Gastric bypass surgery seems to work, of course those two would need a forklift to pick up the excess skin after they lost the weight.

Gastric bypass surgery (or lap-banding, the newest procedure) are not cure-alls. Before they'll even give you the surgery, you have to go through nutritional and emotional counseling. Even then, (if they're reputable) they'll only do it if you're willing to change your diet considerably. If you're just lazy and looking for the easy way out, chances are you're not getting the surgery.
I've never really understood it; there were two points in my life where I was badly out of shape, and both times I lost between 30-40 pounds to get myself back into working order. Now, I know there will be points where I won't be in great shape, but no way I'd let myself get to the "morbidly obese" category.
