I just watched a disturbing flick last night called Irreversable. It was a French film. Um...it DEFINITELY isn't for the faint of heart. Not a bad flick, but very different and disturbing.

Also disturbing:

Requiem For a Dream (disturbing, yet awesome)

City of God (Brazilian movie about gangs of children...true story which makes it VERY disturbing)

Bloody Sunday (another true story about the Irish fighting the English occupation)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (could not sit through the whole thing the first time I watched it because it was just so bizarre).

I would recommend the first three. TCM, not so much, lol.

Stigmata. . .i couldn't sleep for 2 days

Black&White. . .white kids trying to "act" black. . .scary

It. . .i was 21 and crying like a baby. . .i hate clowns now

i can't think of the name but it's a new movie about a jewish kid who joins the neo-nazi. . .poor thing

How apropos...I just watched "Crumb" last night. It's the biography of R. Crumb, the underground cartoonist, and as if he isn't screwed up enough, it features his entire screwed up family also. After watching it you have absolutely no positive feelings about the world or the human race.

I agree with everyone freaked out by Clockwork Orange. Anything dealing with prisons or mental institutions (any kind of confinement or behavior control, basically) frightens me on a very deep level, but this was the topper. I refuse to ever watch it again.

oh, and Virgin Suicides - read the book. read the book. do you hear me? READ THE BOOK.

some echos

Ok, so I'd like to concur (sp?) with some that have been mentioned already:

Event Horizon (gets my award for most disturbing scene EVER in a movie... when they show that video log... people eating eachother or something... pretty f'ed up)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (ok so everyone laughs at me for this, but when I was a kid this movie freaked the shit out of me... I mean, kids getting turned into blueberries and getting sucked up chocolate tubes... come on, that's pretty creepy!)
Seven (duh.)
Stigmata (don't really know why... it just creeped me out)
House of 1000 Corpses (most recently, very good movie but so f'ed up. Rob Zombie is the man, even though they made him tone this down a bit, I really can't think of a movie that's more disturbing than this)

On a side not, the Ring was pretty creepy too... was afriad to sleep with my computer monitor right next to my bed that night... I had to put a towel over it... no swampy bitch was comin after me that night...

forgot

Oh, I forgot, has anyone heard of a movie called CLOSETLAND? It's got the guy who plays Snape in Harry Potter and Lemeditron in Dogma. I've never made ita ll the way through, but everyone always says what a disturbing, psycological movie that is.

I still way this without hesitation: Glitter. IT's still scares me to death

I totally agree with that scene.

Also Jeepers Screeper in the basement with all those dead naked people on the wall. Creepy.

Yeah, that movie creeped me out when I was a kid, too. The Ooompa Loompas really get to me.

Man, I have so many but the only ones that come to mind are:

Pet Semetary...when that kid Gaige like slices that guys ankle then like bits a hunk out of him...I was so freaked to take a shower after that i had to huddle in the corner...don't ask long story lol

IT...i can not stand clowns and even though i have never seen the whole movie i never will

CatStarESP4 08-13-2003 01:39 PM

Silence of the Lambs
Pet Semetery

I have a friend who is an actor and he appeared in these three disturbing films:
Session Nine (the fact that it took place in an abandoned mental institution could creep anyone out)
Black Hawk Down (he was seen very briefly and the bloodshed)
Boys Don't Cry (some of the scenes were very disturbing)

One movie I remember seeing as a child that really threw me out of wack was "Driving Miss Daisy". Just thinking of it gives me the creeps!

It wasn't the Ooompa Loompas' message that freaked me out, it was the little people with their scary orange faces and green hair and their weird pants and their dead blank eyes...ick!

Love Kubrick have his DVD collection, not really disturbing but very analytical. I'm a huge film buff. The most disturbing film I've ever seen was a movie called "SANTA SANGRE". Came out in the 80's kind of twisted plot about a boy and his deranged mother. The actors are from latin america but are speaking english. So it's not subtitled since their speaking in english but they all have heavy spanish accents. Watch "delicatessen" or "city of lost children" beautiful movies that some people would find strange.
