For you numbers geeks out there, I spent some quality time with the data.
846 girls registered
705 girls received bids (that's 83.3%, to save you the effort)
Every chapter got between 57-59 pledges (remarkably balanced!)
There were 17 states and 1 foreign country represented
While we might as well consider Texas as in-state (so I am here), every chapter took girls from "out of state" (meaning other than OK or TX).

I have a spreadsheet on googledrive. If you want to see it, let me know via private. I've deleted names, so that's not a problem, I just don't want any joe blow getting access to my google drive from here until eternity.

For those of you looking at the 141 girls who were not placed, remember there is a long list of reasons this can be true. For instance (in what I think is order of likelihood)
grades
didn't like their outcome during the week
was overwhelmed by the process
decided sorority life just wasn't for them
had an emergency that required them to drop out
And finally:
was cut completely from rush

I love numbers so I love your post.

Yes, I agree, for OSU purposes, TX might as well be in-state. What were the TX/OK numbers?

I agree with the reasons you outlined for the 141 girls, 16.7% not placed. Is it me or does that seem high? Didn't expect to see those numbers that high for OSU.

I don't know the school, but at a state school that is not especially tough to get into (not bashing OSU, just saying there is a difference between an OSU and a Michigan for acceptance rates, for instance), there are going to be a lot of girls who don't have the grades, but don't realize it's a deal breaker.
442 girls from OK. 198 from TX. 26 from Kansas.

Grades are big. The sororities at OSU have very high grade requirements, but many students entering the school in general may not have those grades, and everyone thinks they are the exception.

Also, OSU has a great greek system, but it isn't a deal-breaker to be independent. That can make dropping when you don't like your options a more realistic option.

Very true - OSU's minimum GPA required to participate is 3.0. This is a 3.0 core GPA (unweighted). Add to that some houses list a minimum .2 or .25 higher. Rumor mill/tent talk last year had the GPA cuts for some houses at 3.5 or higher. Somebody said a few were even at 3.8. GPA matters very much at OSU. I forgot and some girls probably had no clue. Probably a harsh wake up call for a few.

My daughter's roommate was an independent - she signed up for recruitment and then didn't go through recruitment. She has a very active life at OSU and had a close set of friends based on major and from high school. That's something also at OSU - there are a lot of OK and TX kids there and there's a lot of ready made social circles to fit into.

Thanks so much for the numbers, DubaiSis! I know of two happy new Pi Phis, one happy new Kappa, and a new Gamma Phi Beta at OSU!! It's great to get the details on the behind-the-scenes breakdown. Appreciate your hard work!

As in...they don't let you sign up with less than a 3.0? That's surprising.

I should have said "participate successfully". You're not excluded from participating. From the recruitment guide:

"If your high school GPA is below a 3.0 or your college GPA is below a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), you may have significantly fewer opportunities than participants with higher GPAs. Potential new members who do not meet the minimum academic requirements of a specific chapter are typically released early in the recruitment process to allow these women to explore other alternatives."
