While DPhiE's national mascot in the unicorn, my chapter (Psi) has the Pink Panther as a local mascot. I don't know the history behind it, but almost all of our scrapbooks dating from the 60's forward have him somewhere included. I like how it's unique, plus it was easy picking out a ringtone on my cell phone for when sisters call for I really like the theme song too.

Kappa Delta's national mascot is the teddy bear. We use the teddy bear and ladybug.

Thanks, Jocelyn! Now that "Rubber Ducky" song by Bert and Ernie is stuck in my head! ;)
Good memories.

I never even heard of local mascots or symbols until GreekChat!

BTW, my mother's log on symbol is ye olde Rubber Ducky!

we didn't have any mascot for our local chapter, but my family was way into our family tradition.. i was a royal and every royal was assigned a disney princess.. i was sleeping beauty, so i have everything sleeping beauty, and then we all have everything with "princess" on it, or crowns.. you name it. and it is REALLY easy to find stuff to buy your sisters (almost too easy because you want to get everything!). we also had our own family handshake and family crest, and of course family letters (with the discontinued disney "pretty as a princess" sparkly pink fabric). oh yeah, and we put rho phi (royal family) or RF on everything.

Sleeping Beauty is my favorite!

My local uses our "recognized" symbols (siamese cat, white rose), and also some that are personal to the sorority (hawaiian shirts, leigs, margarita glasses (ref. Jimmy Buffet)). Our family trees also have family letters...one is sunflowers, one is ivy, another is polka dots, one is cherry and mine is this crazy bright hawaiian print!

My personal symbol is the Hope Diamond. It is VERY ELITE.

I tried to make the Knight's Helm the family symbol but that probably died when I left the chapter. :(

For Gamma Phi Beta our local mascot is the carousel horse.

We chose it because we are all unique and beautiful individuals moving toward the same common goals and purpose.

With Gamma Sig, we used the Penguin.

You're an ass - go back to fratty. Why would you even bother to post this? Invest in spell check too. This was a nice community before the fratty board got kicked to the curb.

Our national symbol is a Rose, colors are red & white. We don't have a national mascot, but our chapter unoffically uses a bunnie :-)

Since our chapter is only about a year and a half old, we are still smoothing out other details....right now we are just starting to come up with our family symbols....my family symbols are Tiara's and Diamonds, colors are hot pink, silver and black and I still don't have a mascot...I am leaning towards Tinkerbell, but I think I want something with a more 'Princess-y' or 'Royal' feel (I am the charter president of my chapter and currently serving my second term, hence the royalty theme in the family mascot....) Please PM me with any ideas!

We have a few that we use

The first, is a rooster, also referred to as a "cock"
The interest group we came out of called themselves The Roosters because they were kind of cocky, and the idea was funny
Some of our old composites have someone in a rooster suit

Today we sometimes use a goat (or a ram if we can't find an appropriate image on greek101 or whatever) to designate our worst sports team. We generally have a Team A, Team B, and...The Goats.

Last night I was at a COR party for the sorority that I advise. I was looking at their table and it was covered in mascot stuff (ASA is the ladybug and Raggedy Ann). There was something on the table that looked like a gingerbread man. I asked what it was suppossed to be and she told me it was one of the mascots. To make a long story short, there was much confusion amongst sisters and many of us new girls began wondering if the gingerbread man was our unofficial or local mascot or something. It turns out the gingerbread man was actually suppossed to be a Raggedy Ann. Yikes! It was hilarious, though.

I had a question for the ASA's out there. I know some chapters use the ladybug only, some use Raggedy Ann only, some use both. Are they both officially national or is it sort of like an assumed thing or an adopted thing (sort of how the Panda for AOII and the turtle for DZ is the "unofficial" yet everyone uses it- I have actually heard many variations on this info as well, please school me if I am wrong).

My Phi Sig family had a family print - Leopard on a black shirt...

We also had family "butt letters" which was pink fabric on the butt of grey sweatpants with the knowledge that "THESE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE" meaning - Wear 'em to bed, lounge at the house in them - DO NOT WEAR THEM OUT! They were kind of a joke between my little and I. We sat in the house basement making them for my two little. (grand little)
