Just heard from my daughter. The worst of it to hit Boston has now passed. She and BF are safe. Don't know yet if the T will be open in time for work tomorrow.

Yeah. I have to see that Irene photo elsewhere before I believe it.

And this one, because, wow does Obama look older than he did 4 years ago. (toll of the office and yada yada, tired maybe, but it just kind of struck me.)

As soon as the photo blog I follow does some Irene pics I'll snag some and post them, they're always beautiful (details on pictures at the links)

I just got 3G on my phone, it looks like my house is the only one throughout the town with power. Cable and internet is still out. Everyone here is safe but the boats nearby, not so much.

Quoting myself, but out of these, I've heard back from 1 in NY and 1 in NJ that the entire chapter is safe and accounted for. 3 to go.

Southern Vermont is getting hit pretty hard right now. I'm hearing reports from friends of streets being flooded and homes taking some heavy damage.

One of my sorority sisters had a tree hit her house, and everything in her room was ruined. It's really sad, but we have all already rallied around her and have offered her our help.

So sad... a man was killed trying to save a 5-year-old boy:

I spent many an idyllic summer day on the shores of Buzzards Bay when I was a kid, and was worried about the little towns and inlets. I guess most came out of it fairly intact. From what I understand, a lot of boats rode Irene out with the fishing fleets in the New Bedford harbor, because it has a hurricane barrier with a gate that can be opened and closed.

Some boats in my neck of the woods drifted off their moorings, but most of the area is full of sandbars so they didn't go far.

Alive and safe...

Half of RI is without power right now, but I'm not sure if that's in the northern or southern half of the state.

:( I had reported no deaths in my county on FB before seeing this.

KSUViolet06 08-29-2011 01:03 PM

MY RI chapter president just emailed me. All are safe and accounted for, though some are without power.

Still waiting on 1 in NJ and my other in NY to report back.

everyone i know in philly is ok. classes were cancelled today and move in was pushed back until today. it seems that the suburbs took the brunt of it as there is heavy flooding.
