Actions having consequences is "creepy" to you?

LOL @ what this thread has become

No, it was the tone with which she said it. :D

And that it was justified that the "consequences" were to the innocent daughter, not the mother. That's what creeps me out.

Oh my.. It's true.. You really do live in Happy Pony Rainbow Land, huh?

Look, if I'm holding your hand and you decide to jump off a cliff, I pay for your stupid decision. I never said the daughter deserves to have all of her hopes and dreams crushed! I simply said that if you do something stupid, you can't be surprised when shit hits the fan. And you definitely can't blame us nice GCers, who only tried to help the mother out by telling her to shut up.

Does it suck that she ruined her daughter's shot at getting into a sorority? Yes. Should she be surprised at the outcome of her decision to not keep her mouth shut? No. Like I said a little ways back.. We tell the truth, and people don't want to hear it. Too bad.

ETA: p.s. how is that opinion "creepy"? It's not like I said I think it'd be a good idea to stare in your bedroom window all night..

And maybe that's what the very crux of my point is. Given that it's the written word, tone is VERY subjective. I didn't mean to be condescending, and yet I came off that way to you. You (the collective you of course) can come off that way as well, so we should all just be a little more careful in wording I guess.

Was that your only point in creating this thread? LOL.

Boohoo to the noob who slithers off? Good gracious. LOL.

Do you seriously think she is justifying what happened? I think you don't really know which battle you're fighting. There are a few battles here, some of which are exaggerated.

LOL. Since when have usernames been able to create preachy threads with no responses? The OP should've replied in the Wary thread and been done with it. LOL.

I still don't understand why new posters would be terrified to post again because someone snapped at them?

You're a little too sensitive if you're scared of users on an internet forum.

The OP wasn't blaming everyone. The OP was blaming those who will not be named, sock puppets and trolls included. This is fun.

Our GC sleuths may need to read this book - then they can analyze posts to figure out who is a lying troll - http://www.slate.com/id/2301859/ - although come to that, they already have mad troll-detecting skills.

Maybe it's because they felt they were being cyber-bullied.

But seriously, the first time I posted on this site, I didn't make friends instantly. I said something jokingly, in a way I always talk when I'm with someone face-to-face, but it was taken the wrong way. I explained myself and moved on. And now, 3 years later (wow, has it been that long?), I'm still here. Because I built a bridge and got over it. I suggest you do the same.

P.s. I think, if I remember correctly, the person who came at me first was MysticCat. Sorry! Hopefully you don't hate me now, because if you do, I'm going to create a new thread about how mean you are and start one hell of a trainwreck!

I refer you back to this...

We’re also dealing with their mothers, most of whom are sane, NON heli-moms, but their emotions are running high as well. Both groups may not be stepping out with their best foot forward when the stumble upon GreekChat.

Dr. Phil: I strongly suspect the posts that were referred to as McCarthy like by me were deleted before you read them. In Translation's thread someone said that they "had taken care of" Wary's daughter. They had reported her to the authorities at UT. Initially they said they had "insider" information (none written) about a girl who was going through recruitment. Who? What? No information provided, but the girl was identifiable, charged with "something" and left out to hang in the wind. I claim the first reference to Senator Joe. I own it.

I saw a few other posts, but missed others (where someone created a new account with the daughter's actual name) where people told the world what this girl was wearing on a day, and the obvious message was: Look out. We are watching you.

Did the mother make mistakes? Yes. Did she stop? No. Did adults, and I use the term loosely, go after someone's kid for shits/giggles/revenge? Yes. And to those adults I can truly say that your behavior is disgusting.

Most of the posters/members on this board have good information. The responders to this thread are among the best sources of information. And yes, there are people who ask the same questions ad infinitum. And just like when small children ask, "Why?" thirty times in a minute some of us get inpatient. (Oh heck, all parents get impatient with the whys.) But this was different and it was creepy and it was wrong. Whoever the creepers were they were THERE (how else would they know what the girl was wearing?) and they (or there was one.....I truly don't know) were out to bury this child. And yes, she is someone's child.

There have been times that someone has discussed something (not necessarily) Greek related and was responded to in a way that the OP didn't want to hear because they "knew" better. After a few tries of information by others which was ignored, the OP went on her merry way...no harm no foul. I know that most of the posters on this thread give great information, they have said the same things so many times they probably should just bring out the menu and said......go to column c.

But again, the person or person(s) who went after this girl because they didn't like what the mother had to say (this is an old fashioned concept and not in vogue anymore): Shame on you.

In a perfect world the creepers would come out a own what they did. She/he/they might even try to right things.

.......but then again I try to live in the world of unicorns, rainbows and ethics.
