Does the first offer pay less than I make now? Or just less than the second offer?

So, you get 2 career offers. One requires you to relocate but it's a career path that you REALLY like but the pay rate isn't as high. The other offer is in a career path that is tolerable but the pay rate will make you more than comfortable and doesn't require you to relocate.

Which would you choose?

Option 2.

I must deal with the "two-body problem". If I relocate for a new job, my husband must initiate a job search in the new city, and vice versa. Or my new job location might be in another country, where I could get a work visa but my husband could only get a spouse visa that would not permit him to work. DH and I did face this choice, with the scenario being his relocating to the Netherlands, and we turned down the opportunity because it would mean either an LDR or the end of my career.

I work to live. I don't live to work.

Option 2. I'm WAY too Type A to move AND take a pay cut.

I would take option 1.

I will admit that it wasn't difficult because all of my post-grad options involve relocating relatively far away, so I've come to terms with leaving Virginia (which I love) already. Additionally, at this point in my life/career I would rather break into a career path I am really passionate about at a lower pay with potential to advance in that area.

Option 2. I'm too close to move to my parents to move away. Now if they would move with me I would consider it. Or if it was within about a 5-7 hour radius of home.
