I never liked Sims. I haven't played the newer versions though.

In related news, I went to TN this weekend and two ministers got together and had a Quran burning...Not a big show since there was very little fanfare about it even in the local news, but still.

I don't know if this is making national news or not, but this idiot is trying to stage a protest outside of a mosque in Dearborn, MI today. He was told he had to get a peace bond and hold his protest in a designated area but he wants to have it just outside the mosque. There has been a jury court hearing that has lasted all day. His protest was supposed to have started at 5 pm but the jury has not yet reached a decision. He doesn't want to have to post a peace bond. He originally said if the jury was not done by 5 pm, he was going to start his protest anyway but now he says he'll just come back next week. So essentially, Pastor Jones is sitting in a court room waiting for a jury verdict on the peace bond, effectively eliminating today's protest. If he attempts the same thing next week without a peace bond, the city is prepared to arrest him.
http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/27624669/detail.html In the mean time, there have been numerous death threats against him and the security at the court room is super tight. Also, there is a peaceful group of Christians, Jews, Muslims and others having a joint prayer vigil nearby. |
^^ It made my google news, but I think I have religion/Islam as a category. I liked the description in the story I read of a protest outside the courthouse where they held hands in silence and then passed "Amen" from one end of the group to the other. Cool imagery. Ironically it seems like it's helped Dearborn pull together - not that the city itself seemed to have much in the way of issues, people who live there seem to get it - across faiths. I feel bad for the residents following being singled out by several politicians as 'under Sharia law' which is beyond idiotic.

The jury came to a decision at 6:30 pm and the peace bond was set at $1. He refused to pay it and was arrested. He has since posted bail ... the $1.00. I guess the police will be on high alert again next week.
