Very much enjoyed your story and learning about the recruitment process; chiming in with my congratulations also!

I bet your willingness to check out all the sororities (from visiting chapters that didn't have a lot of other PNMs in attendance) reflects a personality type that made you a hot commodity. Nice and open is what ALL sororities are after. I'm so glad you got your first choice.

So this Greek system could have one pledge class with 40 girls and one with 0, since they can all give out bids to the same girls? Does it end up fairly balanced?

victoriana 10-10-2010 11:46 AM

Well yesterday some chapters only got 2 or 3 new girls, but they are the smaller ones. Some of the larger ones got anywhere from 10-20. The biggest new member class was 19, I believe. Mine has 11. I guess it works itself out in the end!

It's like Indiana/bed rush - there's no quota, just bidding however many girls you need to get to total. I'm betting that the way rush is structured gives the groups a lot better handle on who's feeling them and who is not - in other words I don't think a group will ever end up with no pledges (unless they're at total) or that a girl will get a bid to every group.

Also remember that they can give bids out at any time during the school year to get to total. (That's true everywhere, actually.)

Drat. I always miss the end of a story I've been following and find out the code in someone's comment. lol

Congrats on AST!!!!!! I enjoyed your story!

Congratulations! I have to admit, I am very unfamiliar with the rush structure you report at your school, and so have been scratching my head a bit as I read your thread- but very glad you had a good outcome plus it is good to have a complete account of how rush works there. I hope this thread can be of value to others who find themselves in a rush structured in this manner.

So I know I'm late to this party (damn having to travel so much for work and not being able to keep up with Greekchat!), but I wanted to say Congratulations!

Its so rare to see ASTs here, so I'm glad there are more of us popping up

Welcome to the sisterhood! :)

victoriana 10-26-2010 11:02 PM

Wooo! Thanks! I can't wait to get to know everyone more :)

Are you going to any founders day festivities?

squirrel_love 10-27-2010 01:41 AM

such an awesome story! congratulations on finding your home!
were you keeping your reasons for wanting to join a sisterhood a secret because you were currently going through recruitment? (going off of what you wrote on your recap of your last visit with antm).
if so, would you be willing to share that with us now? im only curious since you said it made the sister at antm cry so it sounds like you must have a very emotionally moving reason =)

either way, congratulations!
and congrats on being NM President too! thats fabulous!

victoriana 10-27-2010 11:26 AM

Thanks! I wasn't really keeping it a secret at all, haha. I was writing this story live so I had to explain it to like a million people a day so the thought of writing it again just made me want to bang my head against a wall. I still talk to that ANTM sister by the way :)

I just really wanted to join a sorority because I didn't feel like I had found my niche on campus. I had gotten involved in a few organizations, but none of them made me feel really at home. I decided to go through recruitment because I wanted to be part of something that was bigger than myself, and that I would remember for a lifetime. I wanted girls I could go to at anytime and have them accept me. I wanted to give back to our community. I said something else to the ANTM sister about their specific philanthropy and my connection to it, and I think that's what made her cry.

squirrel_love 10-30-2010 12:19 AM

aww thats really great. just the type of thing, sisters in every sorority hope the NM's want out of a sorority ... not JUST a big party and frat boys lol
so happy for you on finding your home =)
