can someone just tell me what a JAP is? as an asian man, i'm getting quite offended at the use of it. so before i say anything more, can someone just explain it to me so i know what it is?

Some people say JAP to mean "Jewish American Princess". I think it sounds really tacky to say that though and I had never heard that until I got here to GC. I too thought it was a derogatory term towards Japanese people for a while...

I have a ton of Jewish friends, though I'm not jewish, and they all use the word JAP to describe themselves and their friends all the time. They'll be like "Oh so and so is so JAP-y". I don't think that it's tacky, it's just slang.

It sounds tacky because it is a derogatory term. It feeds into the stereotype that all jewish people have money, spoil their children, and these girls act like bratty princesses because of it. Of course we all kwow this is not true. :)

I am Jewish, and I do find the word for others to use the word JAP (Jewish American Princess)derogtory. Though, I have heard words even words even more derogatory than that.
That's really besides the point though, because this thread really wasn't about Jewish derrogatory terms in the first place. It has moved from a Rush thread entitled "I am going to be a ____." Just move the JAP conversation to the Chit Chat Forum, not Rush. (Just an idea)
