The More You Know
For each "competition", the lowest score and highest score is thrown out and the remaining scores averaged. So even if Mr. Hilton did rank Miss Prejean last, his score should not have kept Miss Prejean from winning.
And apparently, Mr. Hilton wasn't the only judge displeased with Miss Prejean. After hearing the answer, [Alicia] Jacobs, a former Miss Nevada USA [and judge], writes on her blog, "if I could have made her 51st runner-up, I would have." She goes on to say "I fault her [Miss Prejean] for her complete lack of social grace, and that's a quality I want my Miss USA to posses. If Prejean had been at a dinner party attended by people with whom she was not familiar, and the subject of Gay marriage came up, would she have made that same statement? Would she have stifled her response so as not to offend anyone at the dinner table? I wonder?" In her blog, she alludes that other judges felt the same way. "Going into the finals, she was in 3rd place in swimsuit and 2nd place in the evening gown competition." |
I wonder if she's going to get on some "blacklist" by the Gay Mafia ala "Will and Grace" where no fella who likes the fellas will help her with her pageantry. No hair stylists, no fashion designers for dresses, no choreographers, no personal trainers, no makeup artists, no voice coaches, NOTHING. She might get stuck with people who help the televangelists ladies and be screwed. I'm pretty sure the Velvet Hand has a firm grip in pageants.

Now I see where Miss California got all her charm

Oh good grief, interviewing the grandma....really??? Who's next...her childhood friend's cousin neighbor?
For reals, if I was Miss USA, I'd really be hacked off. All that work for nothing basically.... |
I've never been involved in the whole pageant circuit, so I have no idea what it's like (on the inside) after the pageant. But, for all of the world that isn't involved, it seems like after the winner gets crowned, there's not much to it. (Yes, I realize that the winner has a year's worth of public outings, but the media doesn't seem to make much of it, so the general public is largely unaware of what's going on.) The media covers the pageant, and after the winner takes her first crowned walk, the media goes home.
So, for those of you who have commented that Miss USA should be peeved, I guess I'm not sure why. Is there ever much coverage about the winner after the pageant? Seriously, I've seen a quick recap the day after one of these competitions, but it's never anything that gets much air time. It doesn't seem like Miss USA is currently getting any less coverage than previous Miss USAs. If anything, she's getting more just because the pageant itself is getting more coverage. |
Miss NC goes to my alma mater, ECU, so I like her for that but I really wanted Miss California to win. Even before her answer, which I not only loved but was uber impressed she had the guts to say it.
Can't believe the whole pageant system is turning against her now. Ridiculous. |
Miss California says being gay is a choice & can be cured
Is she high?
