Miss Indiana and Miss Georgia were my 1st choices;)

i also liked Miss New York.

I ddn't like Miss Tenn; she looked like she was giving snarky looks, just call my name and get it over with!

This was actually the competition that ruined my childhood dreams. I'm not saying that I'm gorgeous, or was on the pageant trail, but for some reason, the glamour of Miss America seems to have dissapated for me now. :(

I didn't watch but back when I competed Miss America's scholarship was over $50,000. I don't remember anything in the Top 5 under $25,000. I'm thinking the shrinking scholarships have more to do with their ratings than it does with the economy.

Just realized that the Outstanding Teen is from South Carolina! :D

i hated the way they had the talent be impromptu-how unfair that the contestants had to sing/dance/knit/usher in world peace on the fly. i felt that the talent level wasn't what it has been in the past and wondered if the format had anything to do with it.

i hated all the "inner-beauty" answers the contestants gave for their defination of "glamour". to me, glamour and inner beauty have nothing to do with one another. glamour is about style , elegance and sophistication. you can be glamourous and have inner beauty, but you can be oozing inner beauty and be the frumpiest woman on earth.

Yeah. It's like if you have to be prepared to perform a ballet at a moment's notice, it obviously can't be a piece that requires a ton of preparation or is extremely difficult, or it may not work so well.

I wasn't happy with the winner. DH said her dress looked like a grandma's lace tablecloth over a slipdress. I thought her eye makeup was horrible...she looked like she was punched in the eye. Disappointing. :(

Indiana was definitely not who I expected to win either. I thought for sure Miss Georgia or Florida would end up winning. I was like "what??"

PANTHERTEKE 01-25-2009 01:17 PM

Miss Florida > anyone else.

Year? Try semester.

It's about 15K a semester to go to my school after you factor in room and board; forget about books.

I really wanted Miss Georgia to win...Indiana was a complete surprise to me

BabyPiNK_FL 01-25-2009 10:36 PM

I <3 Miss Georgia. Not only is she a sistah, but she's also my sister!

Miss Florida was too bony & wiry for me...blah.

srmom 01-26-2009 10:46 AM

My husband (he actually watched with me ;)) thought Miss Florida had a "hot dog body" (too long of a torso).

I thought Miss Indiana was cute but hated her opera song!! Then, when she was crowned her hair looked like she had horns!!! Couldn't somebody fix that for her!

The next morning it was in the paper and my husband pointed out the picture with the horns - poor thing!!

I kind of liked Miss California and Miss New York, they could have been sisters.

What was funny for me was earlier in the evening, I was watching a video tape of the Houston "Miss Hawaiian Tropic" contest (one of my son's best friends is a model and he was one of the escorts for the women, so we were watching and giving him unmitigated hell). The whole group of them was the skankiest lot I have ever seen. Some of them were so awful that even my husband was cringing for their sake. What were they thinking????

Anyway, when we were watching the Miss America gals, we couldn't get over how overall wholesome they look. Quite a change from Houston's finest Hawaiian Tropic girls ;)

This is the first Miss America from Indiana-- plus she goes to the Univeristy of Indianapolis and interned at two of the local tv stations, so it was the first story on the local news.

Both stations where she interned dug up old clips of stories she had done for them. I missed the song she sang, but I guess she picked it because it was a song that Sandy Patty sings (Sandy Patty also being from Indiana). I'm not sure how many people would get the connection, though.
