Oh, how I wish that were true. I think Cheney especially has shown that it does NOT take a mandate to wield a great deal of influence.
I do agree that congress goes along with entirely too much, but they're too worried about getting screwed over if they vote against something- they're "soft on terrorism" they "don't support our troops" and all that nonsense. Yuck. Strap on a pair!

I'm not sure it will. Palin is getting a lot of criticism over her, "Obama is friends with terrorists" statement.

Anything that will take the focus off the economy will work. I'm surprised McCain will go this direction... personal attacks about Obama's connection with various people. McCain has a couple of relationships I'm sure he doesn't want placed in lime light again... that will surely be counter productive. This is definitely not the McCain I remember for the last two decades.

One sad note, Tina Fey said she will be "done" playing Sarah Palin on November 5th. It will be a long four years if McCain wins and there is no good parody of Palin on SNL.

I'd say about equal...after the debate Fox News found a couple of false statements Biden made, as well as a couple from Sarah. FOX NEWS (the news, not the Fox News Channel, lol) is generally (i repeat, generally) non-bias...it's everything else on that network that seems to have some right-wing agenda! :rolleyes:

Sure it was a misstep to say that Article I creates the Executive, rather than the Legislative, branch -- although it's a misstep I've heard many times from many knowledgable people. (And I would disagree that Article I is the only place the Constitution mentions the role of the Veep. Article II, section 6, lays out the primary role of the vice-president -- to take on the duties of president if necessary.)

But the point was to refute a claim made by Dick Cheney -- that the vice-president's office is part of the legislative branch. (Or, per some other statements, that the office is part of the executive branch and the legislative branch, or that it is not part of either.) Cheney made this claim to explain why his office was not subject to rules signed by Bush on the handling and release of classified documents by executive branch officials and offices. I have yet to see any constitutional scholar, or pretty much anyone outside of Cheney's office, who agrees with Cheney's position. Article I or II, the Veep is in the excecutive branch, pure and simple. That's the point Biden was making and he was right, even if he did refer to Article I when he should have said II.

I can see the McCain clip and it leaves me less than outraged. I'm not sure McCain even knew what had been shouted to respond to it even if he had wanted to. And most of the audience laughs at the suggestion that Obama is a terrorist, which I think it probably the correct response. It's a laughable suggestion.
