Does paying your gym membership count?

If so, then that's what I did for excercise today (and unfortunately for the last few, ok, many, months).

I do have good intentions, really...

ThetaDancer 08-22-2008 02:54 PM

30 minutes of circuit training!

knight_shadow 08-22-2008 02:59 PM

I parked far away from my destination on campus. And had to walk. In Texas. In August.

I think I sweat off 15 pounds walking from my car :o

I have been paying my membership for the last year and have gone 1 time. I keep saying I am going to cancel it but then I think what if I actually start to go. I have wasted so much $ :(. I prefer the hike and bike trail in Austin-so pretty, much better than a stuffy gym.

RU OX Alum 08-22-2008 07:36 PM

I WAlked around Pest and Buda (budapest and whatever the other one was) for about 9 hours

Pretty much. What I had to do was stand on one leg and then SLOWLY (I started off moving too fast and got fussed at to move slow) go into a seated position onto a bench about 18 inches off the ground and then immediately- and slowly- come back into a standing position all the time on one foot. The first few were not bad, but doing 40 per set was rough.

srmom- paying the membership is step 1. I paid 2 years at my place while traveling even though I never went, but once I got the incentive to get myself back in shape- it was there and waiting. 6 months and almost 60 pounds off later I don't even wonder why I waited. I am just happy I finally got it together.

Today I did 10 miles of hill intervals on an exercise bike and it was a pretty good workout on the upper legs. Followed it with a long walk to cool down. Hand is healing faster every day, and I look forward to tearing it up in the pool next week. I am tired of running!

Just reading your description makes my legs hurt.

Took a leisurely walk today and did a bit of light gardening. It was gorgeous out today - the type of day when you want to call in "sick". (I'm working p/t right now, so I was off today anyway.)

srmom, nope, paying your gym membership doesn't count until you actually go and work out. :p I've thought about joining a gym, but instead I set up my own home gym - stationary bike, elliptical, weight machine, hand weights, a couple of exercise DVDs, and a good pair of walking shoes. Home gym = no excuses.

EE-BO 08-24-2008 06:58 PM

2 mile run today.

Do you do triathlons/have you ever thought about it?

I did a 10 mile run today...my race season kicks off in three weeks!

DoctorD 08-24-2008 07:17 PM

2.25 miles on treadmill [more running than walking], 10 minutes/1 mile on the elliptical, and 10 minutes on the arc trainer.

Been a bit of an off week - haven't been able to get in to the gym much, so I'll take what I can get.

icelandelf 08-24-2008 07:39 PM

managed to sprain my ankle pretty badly yesterday, so I'm restricted to weight machines for the next week or so

Jill1228 08-25-2008 01:12 AM

I have given it some thought now that my weight loss goal is nearly done and I am finding myself feeling more competitive when I play racquetball etc. I think I need to compete at something to keep motivated and move forward.

For now I am going to try swimming again- since that is where I have some experience and also the sport I like most. But we'll have to see how well I take to swimming 10,000-15,000 meters a week- likely more in time.

If that proves too monotonous, then triathalons are definitely a possibility. We have a lot of them here in Austin, and training for one offers a good variety (though I am not sure I would be up for a 10 mile run like you just did!)

1 hour of racquetball today followed by 30 minutes of heavy lifting- a refocus in the weightroom to increase my power for swimming. Hand bandages came off today, so hoping to be back in the pool this week...

AznSAE 08-25-2008 10:17 PM

1.5 mile run today. i am still amazed by the kenyan who ran the 26 mile marathon to win gold at the olympics.

Jill1228 08-25-2008 11:58 PM

Yoga class

Swimming is my first sport too. I started triathlon training after shoulder surgery kept me out of the water for a few months. When I returned, it allowed me to cut my time spent in the water to give my shoulder a rest and still compete. It made me a much better runner, too, which got me into the half and full marathon. Tris are also a big ego boost for swimmers since most triathletes are stronger on the bike or run...I'm usually one of the first women out of the water on the swim (which I promptly lose on the bike :))

Sprint tris are a very manageable distance...usually around a 500 swim, 12 mile bike and 5k run.

I have a 45 minute tempo run on tap for this evening.

Scully 08-26-2008 04:47 PM

I walked across the street to the deli for lunch.

guitarak 08-27-2008 10:32 AM

Cardio (Jogged Two Laps)

EE-BO 08-28-2008 09:31 PM

1 hour of racquetball followed by a 30 minute core body workout. I really sucked at racquetball today. It was horrible. That will hopefully motivate me to bring it Monday morning when I play again.

LucyKKG 08-29-2008 12:43 AM

Track workout with the team. I think we did about 3 miles, but we were working on different stuff aside from distance. We ran a 600, walked a bit, then jogged the rest of the 200. (A "400" is once around a track that's measured in meters, not miles.) Then we ran a 400 by itself. Thennn we did it all again + some other stuff.

I felt great tonight. I think I'm gonna move up a wave next week.

lillady85 08-29-2008 01:05 AM

Met w/ my new trainer today. Discussed what I want to do, accomplish and how we will go about it. I'm excited!

Scandia 08-29-2008 06:37 AM

Yesterday I did Yoga in the morning and Body Combat in the afternoon.

Today I will walk to and from the parking office, as well as to and from the downtown post office if possible.

Good show! Hope it all goes well. I hate it when a trainer quits or moves, but it is always fun to start anew with someone different and see where it goes.

Today I finally broke the 2 mile run rut and added an extra loop on the trail for 2.67 miles- and at a pretty good pace too.

AGDLynn 08-29-2008 10:16 PM

Walked about 5,000 steps around the mall tonight. Bought some cute things;)

CatStarESP4 08-29-2008 10:46 PM

Walked around campus
Ran to cross two ways streets
Treadmill
Stationary bike
Personal Training
I might do some Pilates or Bellydance later on

EE-BO 08-30-2008 08:57 PM

Today was supposed to be rest day- but I had to do something. 20 minutes on the Cross-Trainer machine (my first time to use it, pretty good stuff) followed by some ab work- 60 second sets of various things (crunches, plank etc.)

aggieAXO 08-30-2008 11:25 PM

yesterday I ran sprints with the trainer in the AM then ran 3 mile loop at townlake in the evening.

Today walked the trail at Townlake with the neice and nephew. They complained it was too hot-wimps!

EE-BO 08-31-2008 05:48 PM

FINALLY- back in the pool again today. 42 laps of short distance and sprint sets.

EE-BO 09-01-2008 07:03 PM

1 hour of racquetball followed by 30 minutes of lifting. Hope I was not the only one who put out today!

ADqtPiMel 09-01-2008 07:50 PM
