After not sleeping the night before last nights game nearly killed me. 2:30 in the morning is way to late for a hockey game to end. Good game, but hopefully the next one will finish in 60 minutes!

Lady Pi Phi 04-18-2004 10:48 PM

Freaking Leafs!!!

Are we taking a page out of the Canuks playbook??!!

Damn 2nd OT!!! They're going to give me a heart attack.

Come on boys, let's win this one!!!

Lady Pi Phi 04-18-2004 11:15 PM

Stupid leafs...way to screw it up!!

They have one more chance to make me proud!

I know you can do it boys.

I have the best friends in the world... or a happy ending to my car flag theft

So you all heard about how some jerk stole my car flag (probably some Flames fan j/k) and I was so upset, especially since Vancouver just lost and was now down 3-2 in the series with a do or die game 6.

Well my boyfriend said if the Nucks win game 6 he would buy me a new car flag.

I was out all day today and by the time I arrived home this evening my boyfriend had gone out, but there was a Canucks car flag waiting for me in the front hall.

Of course I called him to thank him for the flag - however, he told me it wasn't his doing. Of course I wasn't sure what he was talking about... apparently my friends, who's house I was at on thursday when my flag was stolen, felt bad and bought me a new one.

Ok, they don't live in the best area of Vancouver, but it certainly wasn't their fault my flag was stolen, but nonetheless they still bought me a new flag.

I was so touched by their gesture. Boy I am such a lucky person.

Then after a game, driving on the Barnet Hwy, my slightly drunk friend Wendy was holding the flag out the window and let it go at like 80km/h lol. And like the rabid car flag hunters we are, they pulled over and wandered around the highway looking for it until they found it lol.

No more car flags for Wendy lol. They also discovered you can't drive from Vancouver to Hope and have it come out looking like it did when you started lol.

I had the same thing happen to me in high school, except my friend wasn't drunk. He was hot and rolled down the window, completely forgetting about my Red Wings flag. I pulled over on a Michigan left turn-around and he jumped out...then I drove around and picked him up! Those things do get tattered pretty easily. No more flags for me either!

My boyfriend, who is Canadian, is a Leaf's fan. I was watching the game last night just shaking my head. What's wrong with you Leafs?!? :(

Oh, don't even get me started. My coworker and I were just discussing their pitiful performance last night.

As much as I hate Ottawa, I am going to have to agree here. Belfour is the only one keeping them in this series.

The fact that arguably the worst line combination out of the 16 playoff teams (domi, reichel, fiztgerald) has been their best overall speaks volumes...did that search party find mogilny, yet?

LeslieAGD 04-19-2004 10:51 PM

Damn, I didn't think Boston would go down against Montreal! :(

Mogilny who???

shadokat 04-20-2004 10:19 AM

Congrats to Montreal and Calgary on their wins!! Gosh, I had to stay up too late last night to see it all, but well worth it :) Let's go LEAFS!! You crazy Canadians :)

bcdphie 04-20-2004 10:33 AM

Aggghh. I thought for sure when Matt Cooke scored with 5 seconds left we were destined to win, especially since I hadn't be to a playoff game in 10 years and I was at last night's game.

I was happy to so the Habs win and I hope Ottawa wins tonight so I have something to cheer about!

Leafs over Sens

Flyers easy over Devils
Lightning over Islanders

Wow...only missed one prediction so far! Who'd a thunk the habs could pull it out in 7!

Next round is:

Avs/Sharks (good series here...might go full 7, as they have in the past, I'll have to show my bias and pick the Avs here, but either team can win this one)

Wings/Flames: I'd like to see the Jerome Ingila show continue, but, it's doubtful...though not impossible. Wings in 6.'

Tampa/Montreal: First glance says Tampa should win this easy, but, same thing was said about Boston, too. Could go the distance...if Theodore stands on his head, and the acting goes away, Montreal in 7.

Flyers/ Leafs/Ottawa winner: Flyers looking very good - pick them in 6.

NeonPi 04-20-2004 03:34 PM

Being a born-and-bred-Calgary-girl-but-displaced-here-in-TO gal, I was up last night cheering for my FLAMES!!

Oh, course, I just about threw up after Jarome missed the empty netter to have it become a Canuck goal 4 passes later!!

With 15 years between series wins, Calgary whooped it up last night - a friend of mine who lives along 17th Avenue (which dead ends at the Saddledome) said traffic was a standstill for over an hour for 30 blocks down 17th, with folks screaming, honking and cheering...you would have thought they won the Cup again (which was the day after my 18th birthday - May 25, 1989)

Kudos for Montreal to touch base with the pride of the Habs and pull it out.

Now - let's see OTT & TO go to triple overtime...!!!! Go LEAFS!

(edited to make some sense ;) )

Lady Pi Phi 04-20-2004 10:08 PM

YEAH BABY!!!!

GO LEAFS GO!!!!

Toronto on April 30

I'm going to be in Toronto on April 30, and would like to get one ticket for the NHL playoff game.

Do any of you NHL experts know how I might get a ticket?

Hum....might be a tough one. Ticketmaster is a good start. You can also try http://www.eBay.ca, as well http://www.tickets.ca - I have used them before and had SUPER tickets!!!

Last resort - check the for sale ad's online at http://www.thestar.ca

I hope you are willing to shell out both an arm and a leg for tickets. Standing room seats generally run about 300 bucks a piece from the scalpers, and for platnum seats you could be looking at up to 6,000 bucks a seat if you buy them on the street. Buying from a ticket agency like NeonPi suggested is probably the best idea, but even then they are gonna cost you alot of money. Your best bet is to save the 5 hundred plus dollars, goto a place like Wayne Gretzkys bar (classy establishment) or The Peel Pub (Not so classy, but cheap beer) spend the money on booze and watch the game on the big screens. The atmosphere there will rival that of the Air Canada Centre.

hoosier 04-22-2004 07:27 PM

Thanks

Thanks for the ideas.

I checked several ticket sites, and they ranged from $300 to $800.

May resort to the Peel Pub.

Do you know what it's close to?

I was a season ticket holder when the Flames were in Atlanta in the real old Days, and was at the opening night when the Thrashers and Phillips Arena debuted.

Hopefully the new Thrashers owners will keep improving the club, but all their comments so far have been about basketball.

CC1GC 04-23-2004 12:23 AM

Good, leafs lost...i got money down on the fliers and once they win i'm gonna strutt around with my (newly bought) fliers jerseys and heckle as many leaf fans as i can find.

sororitygirl2 04-23-2004 12:35 AM

Wow... maybe you should see someone about this "anger" issue :)

Hey what's your opinion of the Sen's coach being let go... it's not like he lost the game....

Frankly, it's a crap move, but it either Muckler or Martin.

Martin would do well (is he so desired now that OTT will be paying him for that contract extension OTT gave him before the playoffs) to go to Chicago, and fix that system up and down. Back in day, OTT used to be on cheap street, and Martin pulled them up. Chicago could use that help BIG TIME (I'm a sucker for Original Six).

And how about those Flames??? My phone kept ringing off the hook after the OT goal "Did you see that? Awesome, eh?" ??? Love the friends and family - it's like I'm there...

Of course, I'm trying to convinve the hubby to drive to DET for the game tomorrow, but he's scoffing at the $140 US a tix price ("Honey, we ARE trying to buy a house"). House, schmouse - I wanna see my FLAMES!!!

:)

Lady Pi Phi 04-23-2004 11:29 AM

Apparently they still have tickets for Leafs vs. Flyers games in Philly.

I was like eh?!! Damn, I wish I could go. Ummm...if I could get someone to drive down there I would...

long overdue...he's a great coach, but it was his time to go....31-38 playoff record, sorry jack that doesn't cut it...he'll land another job, i'm not crying over him...3 coaches i would really like to see: robinson, quelleville and ted nolan.

No shit !!!! Hum... makes things interesting for Tuesday night!

On a side note, HOW ABOUT THEM FLAMES, BABY?!?!?!?!

I guess it's just nuts in Calgary. My girlfriend was saying if it has a 'Flaming C' on it, it is SOLD. Flames jerseys have replaced suits...and heaven forbid if you don't wear red on game day!

The1calledTKE 05-02-2004 08:13 PM

Man one of the few times I decide to watch hockey, one team gets killed. Close games are more fun. Congrats to Philly for the blow out though.

bcdphie 05-03-2004 02:04 AM

The Eagle has landed... rolled over and died. WTF happened during the game!!!???

Lady Pi Phi 05-04-2004 07:57 AM

Congratulations Flames!!!!

I think I'll have to start cheering for you, because I certainly can't cheer for the Maple Laughs

(being the true Leaf fan that I am...I have jumped off the bandwagon)

NeonPi 05-04-2004 01:59 PM

One wild night....

YEAHHHHHHH FLAMES!

Yes, I was up until 1:30 EDT when they scored....then family and friends proceded to call me until 4 am from the streets, bars, wherever - just wanting to share the vibe - one wild night in Cowtown indeed!

Now, if the Leafs take up the charge ! GO LEAFS GO (still on the bandwagon, but getting some slivers)

I'm not really a sports fan, but still, 3-2 Flyers... :(

CC1GC 05-04-2004 10:52 PM

Good riddance....another 37 years....

Lady Pi Phi 05-05-2004 09:02 AM

Well that's dissappointing :(

Only one more Canadian team left!

GO FLAMES!!!!

LeslieAGD 05-05-2004 03:34 PM

It was a crappy two days...first the Wings and then Toronto. :(
I hope Tampa Bay and San Jose kick the sh*t out of Calgary and Philly and go to the finals.

Lady Pi Phi 05-05-2004 03:42 PM

Boo...it's a sad day when it's 2 American teams in the Stanley Cup finals, but it's even worse when it 2 teams from places where it doesn't even snow.

I'd only like to see American teams from the Original 6.

Bring back the Original 6!!!

Taualumna 05-19-2004 11:52 PM

Yay Flames!! Finally, a Canadian team in the final
