7/12 teams in the SEC are in the top 25 out of 118(?) in the country. i'd say that's very good.

better than most conferences with 3 ranked teams at best.

Darth Visor

AOIIallum, I was reading a webpage criticizing the Atlanta Journal's poor excuse of a journalist, Terence Moore. One of the posters mentioned the Lizards and I loved it.

I thought about this after I posted...this has been around for a while...Steve Spurrior, AKA Darth Visor (guess it was not enough sunshine for him to wear it Sat. ):D but realized I had implied the wrong Darth.

sigtau305 10-29-2007 03:46 PM

Ohio State is a serious roll. nice.

You owe me a new can of Diet Coke! Darth Visor...now, that's comedy!

sigtau305, living here I really thought the Buckeyes were #1 overrated and #2 hadn't really played anyone. They proved me wrong on both counts Saturday.

But, we are in a REBUILDING year! We can't be number one. Tressel doesn't want it. Whatever.
Heading to Columbus on Saturday for the Wisconsin game.

you know it and I know it, but the Bucks think otherwise. as long as they keep it going, that's the main thing.

Dear Mr. Football Announcer Guys,

It's KUY-POH NO-AH KAH-HAY-AH-KOO EN-HAH-DAH (Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada).

Thanks.

Props to the Midshipmen for breaking their losing streak.

Let's see if I read this correctly...

Kansas 76, Nebraska 39.

Could this be payback for many years of the Hucksters running up scores?

ETA, Sandy, you've got to love BYU's Tongan Trio:

Fui Vakapuna
Harvey Unga
Manase Tonga

Kansas scored more points on NU yesterday than they did in the 1980's.

B'girl, we all do understand that you are a fan of O-State.
You should be aware that you are, at the least, technically in violation of
GC TOS as well as Copy write and Fair Use laws when you post a list like that rather than a link.

Are you serious? It's linked to the page. And everyone posts stories and things all the time. As long as the link is there, who cares?

macallan25 11-05-2007 01:05 AM

What?? There is nothing wrong with copy and pasting a weekly updated list. That's ridiculous.

If the list is copied and pasted, and if it is from a copyrighted article, it is a violation of the TOS and the copyright laws as well.

The chance of the "copyright police" looking here are pretty slim (as in almost non-existant), but it would be better to post a link.

That's really true of anything protected under the copyright laws.

The following is a post from the board administrator:

"Do not post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have permission from the copyright owner. This has been part of the site rules since these forums were started.

If you are posting a news article it is fine to post an excerpt/summary along with a link to the full article on the news publication's website."

In reality, most of us have broken that rule/law, but we really shouldn't.

Brother;
All of those polls and sites are copy write protected.

PM_Mama00 11-05-2007 11:04 AM

If whatever it is is linked to the original, seriously what is the problem?

Send the copyright police after me. I'm waiting for the arrest warrant.:p

There isn't one unless one of those companies has an attorney who wore his wife's underwear by mistake. I'd rather see the list reposted with an appropriate citation than Mr. Cagle posting the links.

Definitely agree.

And legally, aren't you allowed to post a whole article as long as you cite where it came from? Kinda like when you cite things when writing a paper for class. I could be wrong, but this is what I always thought.

Leave it to Hawaii and BYU to make sure that announcers brush up on their Polynesian 101 each season!

They'll have a field day with Hawaii's remaining 4 games (all of which will be nationally televised).

No, I don't think so. I think there's a difference between academia and the rest of the world.

You bring up a good point, though. Is it legal to post an entire article, as oppossed to a quote or quotes, even in an academic paper?

Again, not being a lawyer, I'm not sure of the answer -- only of my understanding of the situation.

The Copyright laws can be pretty confusing -- especially concerning fair use.

jon1856 11-05-2007 07:42 PM

This is, IMHO, the best reply and answer in this tread:

John posted it for some reason. So perhaps we should all try to follow it.

As for the possible reason(s) the John put that into the TOS for GC:
Here are a few educational links that one could click on for more details:
http://www.ivanhoffman.com/fair.html
http://www.bitlaw.com/copyright/fair_use.html
http://fairusenetwork.org/reference/freeexpip.php
http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html
http://fairuse.stanford.edu/Copyrigh...er9/index.html
http://fairuse.stanford.edu/

Even the above are not all to clear.

I was told/taught that the best thing to do in an open, web site was to write a very short, very brief, very simple into and then provide the link to site.

And as this site is not only open to all but also open to spiders, this is what I do.

Any other questions, please PM me.

Now, let us all get back to the original thread:):D;)

So proud of my Illini! With all the upsets, I get nervous when we actually get ranked. If we lose against Northwestern next week...

DeltAlum 11-12-2007 03:32 AM

My brother-in-law graudated from Ohio State and Ohio State Law.

His daughter graduated from Illinois.

Think she'll rub this in?

kstar 11-16-2007 02:14 PM

And another top five goes down.

See ya Oregon!

I think Mikey is going to get one hell of a Christmas present from Bob.

I do like that this week 3 of the top five are the Big XII.
