This was me yesterday! I got sick during my 1st planning period, but the school was out of subs so I could not go home!

I called in sick today, and I am only able to keep some food down with the help of some RX nausea meds, but they make me so drowsy, I won't be able to take them tomorrow at school...ugh..

Have you tried ginger items? Like ginger tea and crystallized ginger? it is one thing that really helps me when I feel like puking, and for some reason COLD applesauce helps too.

I'm sick, but it's not swine flu!! Haha! My voice sounded kind of funny on Sunday but I had been cheering a ton for powderpuff. Now my throat hurts. My eyeballs and lymph nodes hurt. I have formal tomorrow and Norway Day the day after, so I really don't wanna be sick right now!

WCsweet<3 05-02-2009 08:29 PM

I would swear I had mono, but I don't have any of the other symptoms. I have been so tired that I sleep for ten hours every night and still need a nap. This has been going for a week and my head ache has been coming and going for two weeks. I don't have time to be sick any more.

RU OX Alum 05-03-2009 05:27 AM

I hate the fluxuating weather. I've been so sick. I need to go take a nap.

I was going to ask if you went to Norway Day, my sister performed. I'll catch up with you on Facebook.

I started allergy shots and got my Ambien prescription refilled, YAY! The burning and peeling on my face as a result of antibiotics is almost gone too.

LucyKKG 05-03-2009 10:19 PM

I've sneezed about a million times today...ugh! Does DayQuil really have some stimulant in it? My bf said it did and thought it was bad but...I feel icky!

libramunoz 05-17-2009 01:36 AM

I thought I had sinuses that were draining and driving me nuts. I cannot hardly hear, went to the ER yesterday, and damn, I have bronchitis (?). It fooled me this time, usually I get a bad fever with it, but I haven't had one. I had to say, it's better than it usually is, so I caught it just in time, Thank the Lord for that! I can deal with the antibiotics, but the ER dr wasn't happy with my HBP.

DreamfulSpirit 05-17-2009 01:51 AM

I caught a cold that is going around...and one of its affects right now is that I have NO voice! I tutor elementary students and had to call in sick to work this morning because I can't even speak! I WANT MY VOICE BACK!!!

jojapeach 06-09-2009 12:08 AM

I think I'm suffering from a chest cold thanks to the shared AC in our duplex (moving at the end of the month...yesss!) and a lot of AC at work. I hope it's just a scratchy chest and congestion. I think I'll pick up some Airborne before work and start taking it from now on.

My doctor mentioned allergies a while back, but I woudn't think it would cause congestion in my chest. *sighhh*

RU OX Alum 06-15-2009 04:49 PM

I'm still very sick from food I ate. Stupid maple syrup and spices.

Bella796 06-15-2009 05:32 PM

I have crohn's disease flare and drugs are not responding. Doctors want to remove the infected colon.

Oh! and my cat bit me last night.

You'd be surprised what allergies can do. My toddler had a cough for most of his life. As what seemed like a last-ditch effort, his pediatrician finally said, "Let's try some Zyrtec and see if that helps him." Sure enough, he's now cough-free. His only symptom was chest congestion, and since the cough is gone, I'm thinking the doctor was right about it being allergies.

You should give it a shot. It shouldn't really hurt anything if you take an allergy med (approved by your doc) and it doesn't help. (Except, of course, you're out the time and cost of the appointment and prescription.)

Allergic reactions can run the gambit to a bit of congestion to full blown anaplaltic shock where your lungs will close off.

If you get tested for allergies, you're only out one day if you're not that allergic to that many things, or at all. If you are a bad case, you'll find out, and you'll start to feel better.

jojapeach 06-16-2009 05:56 PM

Thanks, SydneyK and RU OX Alum. I actually went to the doctor a few days before my post, and she didn't see any infection. Just sinuses that were outta control. It's actually already gone. I took my regular store brand allergy medicine, and it cleared everything right on up. My allergies aren't bad, and I don't even experience allergies every spring and fall. That's why I didn't associate my symptoms with a cold.

lovespink88 09-09-2009 08:08 PM

I'm convinced I caught this one during rush...I mean, 1200 women moving through 19 houses of 150+ other women...germs are going to spread...

I've got a really bad sore throat, post nasal drip, a little chest congestion, sneezing, coughing, sinus pressure, headache...it's awful!

My PR teacher was concerned I have the swine flu, but I don't have a fever, so I don't know...at least that's what the dial-a-nurse said, ha! I guess we'll see at my Dr. appointment tomorrow...

Just as I predicted I am sick but not from swine flu. My nephew started preschool and caught something, and now I have it, my parents have it, and my sister has it. I developed a sinus infection, and it mimicked swine flu except I haven't had a fever. People who take their temperature and it is 97.4 - 98.5 do not have swine flu.

I am concerned though as some people who have died from the flu have had a second infection, bacterial, much like my sinus infection so I'm staying at home and took my antibiotic. I hate that I have no energy as I got a Wii last weekend and can't even enjoy it.

I'm sorry to hear that VandalSquirrel. I hope you can get better and play your Wii soon.

Seriously, it is sitting there in the box and my new Indiana Jones Lego game is so lonely. I've just been lying on the couch sleeping and watching television (got a new TV with the Wii, that did get set up, but it came with no HD cables, sigh). I'm supposed to go rafting this Saturday so I need to get better ASAP.

AnotherKD 09-11-2009 08:03 AM

I thought I've been lucky to not have been sick for about 6 months now... and lo and behold, my lovely hubby and I woke up this morning pretty bad. (But since he said he had a bad headache most of the night and couldn't sleep and I just felt bad this morning, I'm saying he gave it to me :)) Sinuses, sneezing, really tired, and just feel the general 'ick' in the back of my throat that tells me some kind of sickness is coming. So I'm here at work, counting the hours (and the tissues) before I can leave after an important meeting at 11. Who schedules important meetings on Fridays anyways?!?! Total b.s.

ThetaDancer 09-25-2009 01:42 PM

Bumping because I have the cold from hell and it just will.not.go.away!

LucyKKG 10-01-2009 04:03 PM

I'm glad I didn't post her a few hours ago, cause my post would've been way more whiny. My lymph nodes were KILLING me. I had the worst sleep ever last night. I kept waking up for long periods at a time, then got nauseas and threw up a little. I took some advil and ate oatmeal. I've been good about drinking water. I'm definitely staying inside today. Blahhh!

Hope you feel better.

I've been sick since last Friday. It sucks. The only positive is that I've been able to work from home this week

LucyKKG 10-03-2009 04:54 AM

Omgggg I was feeling fine, but I've felt terrible for the last hour or so. I threw up, then I started feeling better. I was going to finally take some Nyquil and go to sleep but now I'm feeling nauseas again. I don't wanna throw up the medicine! Ughhh!

ZTAMich 10-03-2009 12:14 PM

I hate having the flu :( Hopefully since I got it so soon in the season I'll stay healthy from now on.

brokengymnast75 10-03-2009 01:29 PM

Since I'm going through Rush, I'm not allowed to complain about anything. Might as well get it out of my system here.

I've had a nerve go in and out for 5 years. It causes my spine to feel like someone is ripping it out and twisting it! It also causes nauseousness when I do any sort of working out (ab workouts, arms, legs, gymnastics, diving etc.) besides going on the elliptical. I've been to many doctors and they can't figure it out so they keep giving me painkillers which then my body gets used to eventually so I have to switch to a different prescription when I reach the top dose of the current one I'm on.

Vent out. Now I get to go and have good conversations during rush! :)

My throat started killing me this afternoon. My lymph nodes are swollen and very tight. It's quite uncomfortable. As you can see, I am up at 2:50a.....and I get up for school at 6a. I don't have the time or the energy, really, to be sick. I shall suffer through this day and probably call the doctor for an appt right after school.

Ugh.

StrawberryField 11-18-2009 06:07 PM

*Bump*
This cold is driving my crazy! I sound like the thing from the Grudge, I'm fevery and the medicine makes me nauseated. There was so much I needed to do this week and none of it involves being sick. I'm going back to bed. Sorry for the rant.

LucyKKG 11-18-2009 06:30 PM

Get well soon, dear sick people of GC!

LucyKKG 12-26-2009 08:30 PM

Ughhh I'm sick again! I've been waking up with a sore throat for a few days now. Today and yesterday, I had a ton of phlegm going on when I woke up. I felt like death this morning and seriously didn't wanna get up. My sister and I went to the mall but she left early (we drove separate cars) because she had to work. I got SO lost trying to find where I parked. There are several parking garages, and my illness made my sense of direction 100 times worse than it usually is. It was really awful.

I'm supposed to go to my boyfriend's house in an hour and a half, but I honestly don't feel like driving an hour to go see him. Ughhh I suck. Actually, the light of my computer isn't doing wonders for my head. Bleh!

pshsx1 12-26-2009 11:04 PM

I've had this ANNOYING cough since about 2 weeks before Finals this semester when I started getting really stressed out. Pretty much everyone who frequents my hall has it. It's weird b/c it's not spreading outside of the few of us that have it, and it's only a cough. Nothing else. Just a really annoying and occasionally nasty cough.

IlovemyAKA 12-28-2009 11:49 PM

Chinese buffet. Never again. Need I say more?

LucyKKG 03-22-2010 11:23 PM

2 days ago, I thought I had allergies. Yesterday, I thought I had a cold. Today, I know it's the flu! I got a flu shot, so I guess this is another strain. My lymph nodes hurt and my EVERYTHING aches. Even my eyeballs! Ughhhh!

pshsx1 03-30-2010 03:27 PM

I feel awful :'(

ThetaDancer 05-11-2010 08:49 AM

bump. :( I feel like hell. I don't even remember the last time I had chills---I forgot how miserable they are.

AXOmom 05-11-2010 01:52 PM

My daughter is sick (sore throat, feels yucky, oh, and sunburnt). A kid sick and two hours away is a bad thing for a mom. I've asked her twice if she wants me to come down (yeah, I know, helicopter mom). She firmly told me no. I've been replaced in my role as caretaker by her boyfriend (sob! gasp!).

On top of being sick she is bummed because this is Greek week (her first) and she was signed up for an event where she truly excels (hot dog eating contest). Alas, the sore throat brought an sad end to her championship hot dog eating dreams.

groovypq 05-11-2010 02:02 PM

I can't totally shake this headache. And I'm sleepy and feel warm. Not feverish, though.

LucyKKG 09-24-2010 01:44 AM

I feel like crap! Guhhhh! I had a sore throat yesterday and was very tired pretty early last night. Today, I'm congested and ache everywhere. DayQuil is my friend. I have to help out with a big BBQ tomorrow and also support my bf at his boxing match on Saturday. Not a good time to be sick! Actually, it's never a good time to be sick.

AlphaFrog 09-24-2010 08:51 AM

I went to bed at 5pm yesterday, but I slept terribly because of a fever. Half the night I couldn't get warm, and then the fever broke and I couldn't get cool. I was also having dreams about some natural disaster where I knew I couldn't save everyone, but I sure as Hell tried. This all started with a stupid kidney infection.
