This is a fun game! I think that I am going to ask for Ordinary Miracles as a Christmas gift. |
Not quite there yet. It's not 1913 or 1921.
The answer is in Ordinary Miracles. ETA: Thanks for the photo of the kaiserin rose, Sydney! :) Where did you learn that? |

Since it's probably unlikely that there are many of those floating around, you might be interested to know that it's online (6th ed.) on google books. Here's the link if you're interested: http://books.google.com/books?id=xbU...ority+handbook |

It definitely was gussied up to our current translation. BTW, my father used to tease my chapter sisters about their pronunciation. The Southerners had that twang, "Taw kawlah deh-oh-koh-men" which bothered the heck out of him. But hey, he had an accent too! :) |
Leslie Anne -- I know I'm slow to look at it, but that whole chapter naming thing you posted was amazing. Thanks for sharing!!

I wish that this thread would become more active again! I loved hearing all of the trivia and history about Kappa Delta. I am a HUGE nerd when it comes to KD history...but I am not ashamed to admit it!!

OMG. I'm so sorry. I can't remember where I found that tidbit of information but I'll try to find it today and post the answer.
Okay, I'm back and I found the answer. A Founder's Day message has been published in The Angelos by the National President every year since 1931. :) Anyone want to post a new question? |
New Question!
To get things started again I'm tossing out another question.
When was Kappa Delta's first convention held? |
1903?
|
Ding ding ding! You are correct. Nice goin' Sydney. :)
|
Thanks, Leslie Anne.
Next question: What scholarship is awarded to a KD pursuing a graduate degree in the field of health care? |
Kailash, Mona, & Anila Jain Scholarship!
|
Hey everyone! so I just read this whole thing because I am super interested because I am one of the founding sisters of my *soon to be* Eta Mu Chapter at GCSU! we will become an official chapter November 15 and I am so excited :D
It is really fun learning random tidbits of KD history! |

What were two nicknames bestowed on Sara Turner White while she was in school?
|
Pig was one

Bump!
What's the answer, kdizzy? (I don't recall any nicks other than Pig for Sara. I'm stumped!) |
Sorry! I hadn't been on here in a while...
Her other nickname was Sagie! I don't have a copy of Ordinary Miracles handy to reference it, but that is where I read it. |
Aw, rats! I've been lurking here for a little while and finally thought I'd break out the Ordinary Miracles, register, and get that second nickname out there.
Hi, everyone. |
Hi Shellfish! :)
Well, let's get this thread going again with an easy one: The Alpha Trunk was in use until what year? |
Good one, Leslie Anne.
(That's my pat-on-the-back-for-the-good-post BUMP, just so ya know.) :) |
I want to say it was 1912.

WC can post a question or really anyone can. No need to get one right first. Just jump in! |
When was the charter cup retired?
|
1976, I think.
New question: Three documentaries that appeared on TV in the past year or so featured Kappa Deltas. What were they? |
I know that Made is one of them...but I don't know the others!
However...there was a KD on the Price is Right in November/December! |
Was Thin one of them?
|
Yes, Thin is one of them. I'm going to give the other answers because I noticed that they will be on TV soon if you want to catch them:
Brett Killed Mom is on HBO Family very early Sunday morning. The narrator, Brett's sister, was a member of Pi chapter. Bama Girl is on IFC on the 17th and 18th of this month. The homecoming queen candidate with the support of The Machine is from Zeta chapter. I didn't know there was an episode of Made about a KD, but then, I gave up on MTV when it stopped being about music. *shakes cane at youngsters* |

New question:
Two Julias played a large role in Kappa Delta's early years. One is obviously founder Julia Tyler. Who is the other one? |
Julia Vaughan.
Next question: Who was the first national president? |
Genevieve Venable? (off the top of me head)
|
Actually, the first woman elected was Charlotte McKinney, but she was unable to serve because of personal matters, so Genevieve Venable was the first actually to fill the role.
New question: Who was sometimes incorrectly counted as a founder? (And it's not Eunice Spiers.) |
