"Once upon a time,
I believed in miracles.
Once upon a time,
I believed that love would conquer all..."

(Brklyn, The Musical)

Let the little girl go, and that poor little dog... Dodo.
I know you don't want to hear this, but someone has to say it... You are out of control! I mean, come on! They're just shoes, let it go!

Ding dong, the wicked witch is ...

Drolefille 10-17-2006 03:40 PM

Good News!
She's Dead!
The Witch of the West is dead!

And to get off the Wicked kick:

Christ you know I love you
Did you see I waved?
I believe in you and God
So tell me that I'm saved

DeltAlum 10-17-2006 03:59 PM

"Ding Dong, the witch is dead..."

Drolefille 10-17-2006 04:05 PM

DeltAlum 10-17-2006 04:47 PM

"Brenda and Eddie were the popular steadies,
And the king and the queen of the prom.
Ridin' around with the car top down,
And the radio on..."

UGAGal 10-20-2006 03:40 PM

In life one has to face a huge assortment
Of nauseating fads and good advice
There's health and fitness, diet and deportment
And other pointless forms of sacrifice

Conversation? Wit? I am a doubter
Manners? Charm?
They're no way to impress
So forget the inner me, observe the outer
I am what I wear
And how I dress

SigKapSweetie 10-20-2006 03:46 PM

You take one road,
You try one door,
There isn't time for any more.
One's life consists of either/or.
One has regrets
Which one forgets,
And as the years go on
The road you didn't take
Hardly comes to mind.
Does it?

AlphaFrog 10-20-2006 05:32 PM

Joseph's luck was really out,
His spirit and his fortune low
Alone he sat, alone he thought
Of happy times he used to know

"It's a dangerous Game..."

AGDee 10-22-2006 08:39 PM

Masquerade!
Paper faces on parade . . .
Masquerade!
Hide your face,
so the world will
never find you!

(My 12 year old daughter said today that these lyrics make her think of politicians!)

ASUADPi 10-22-2006 10:39 PM

I wish I could say
The right words
To lead you through this land
Wish I could play the father
And take you by the hand
Wish I could stay here
But now I understand
I’m standing in the way

Once More with Feeling- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (hey it was their musical episode :D)

AlphaFrog 10-23-2006 07:19 AM

I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of LaMancha
Destroyer of Evil am I.
And the wild winds of passion,
Will carry me onward,
Oh whithersoever they blow.

"Because I knew you, I have been changed for good..."

neosoul 10-23-2006 01:32 PM

I don't know how I know, but I've gotta find my purpose!!!

I need a Hero,
I'm holding out for a Hero till the end of the night.

800 points and a giant cookie to the person (besides DA:p ) that names that musical.

This brought me out of lurkage, despite the fact that it's a month old, because I am so excited that other people have heard of this show!
"I will not wait until the snow beneath me thaws--I will escape your Santa claws!" --Songs for a New World

For equally obscure Jason Robert Brown:
"I could have a mansion on the hill
I could lease a villa in Seville
But it wouldn't be as nice as a summer in Ohio
With a gay midget named Karl, playing Tevia and Porgy"

Yay...it's such a great show. I convinced one of my friends at church to work up "King of the World" for either Maundy Thursday or Good Friday this year.:) :)

So....

Whoops, almost fell Murray
The mother of your children
Splattered across Fifth Avenue
In a bloody heap, Murray
And it's all your fault

carolina blue 10-24-2006 09:42 AM

My favorite song to perform :)

But my favorite lyrics...
"I'll give you stars and the moon and a soul to guide you
And a promise I'll never go
I'll give you hope to bring out all the life inside you
And the strength that will help you grow.
I'll give you truth and a future that's twenty times better
Than any Hollywood plot."
And I thought, "You know, I'd rather have a yacht."

Potipher was counting sheckels in his den below the bedroom when he heard a mighty rumpus clattering above him.
Suddenly he knew his riches couldn't buy him what he wanted.
Gold would never make him happy if she didn't love him.

Letting out a mighty roar
Potipher burst through the door
Joseph I'll see you rot in jail
The things you have done are beyond the pale

Poor poor Joseph locked up in a cell
Things aren't going well hey locked up in a cell

DeltAlum 10-24-2006 12:35 PM

"It's hard to speak my heart..."

(Since we're on the Jason Robert Brown theme, DASon "won" the Individual Achievement -- Solo Vocal at the Colorado and International Thespian Festival with this song in 2001 -- Brown is one of his favorite composers)

Luck be a lady tonight!

My Gawd, the memories, we did this in highschool. In senior year we were required to put on Julius Caesar, A Man for All Seasons, and Guys and Dolls. All graduating seniors were required to be active in the "Phils" (the Phililectic Society). This made for some interesting casting. Usually the more hopeless ones among us could be backstage crew, but not always.

DeltAlum 10-24-2006 08:51 PM

"She is eternal, long before nations lines were drawn,
When no flags flew, when no armies stood,
my land was born.
And you ask me why I love her,
through wars, death and despair,
She is the constant, we who don't care.
And you wonder will leave her,
But how?
I cross over borders, but I'm still there, now."

ASUADPi 10-24-2006 09:15 PM

And The Rhythm Of Life is a powerful beat,
Puts a tingle in your fingers and a tingle in your feet,
Rhythm in your bedroom,
Rhythm in the street,
Yes, The Rhythm Of Life is a powerful beat,
To feel The Rhythm Of Life,
To feel the powerful beat,
To feel the tingle in your fingers,
To feel the tingle in your feet,

(OMG I love this musical. I sang this song and Big Spender in choir. The only bad thing was my director putting his tacky movements to it. LOL. Try doing a box step in heels, with a long dress on, on risers where you barely have enough room to walk in the first place. Not fun. Ahh but the memories. :D)

DeltAlum 10-24-2006 10:07 PM

"I thought that dreams belonged to other men,
cause each time I got close, they'd fall apart again."

jadis96 10-24-2006 10:21 PM

"why it is.... jublitation t cornpone...."

SigKapSweetie 10-24-2006 10:27 PM

And I woke one day, and I looked around, and I thought, "My God...I'll never have the moon."

AlphaFrog 10-25-2006 07:27 AM

They are not nice,
They're mostly noise.
They swear like men,
They screw like boys.

I see no point in singing Fosse music in a choral setting...the songs have nothing to do with singing, and everything to do with Fosse's dancing.:p :p

"Send in the clowns..."

tinydancer 10-25-2006 12:02 PM

"They're already here."

(Once I attended an Eastern Star meeting where all the grand poobahs were introduced and escorted to the tune "Send in the Clowns" and I just giggled)

DeltAlum 10-25-2006 10:08 PM

"You'd have been much better if you'd had it planned,
Why'd you pick such a backward time in such a strange land..."

AlphaFrog 10-26-2006 07:19 AM

Oh gods, oh gods, are you there?
Don't you remember your little TiMoune from the tree?
Wake up, look down, hear my prayer.
Don't single me out, then forget me!

Oh gods, oh gods, let me fly!
Send me to places that no one before me has been.
You spared my life, show me why,
You get me to rise like a fish to the bait,
Then tell me to wait.
Well, I'm waiting.
Waiting for Life to Begin!

BlueBatshit 10-26-2006 07:48 AM

What are you gonna be?
Shit, Richie, shit, Richie,
When you get shoved outta here
Shit, Richie, shit, Richie, honey,
Aint nobody gonna be
Shit, Richie, shit, Richie,
Standin' there with no scholarship
Shit, Richie, shit, Richie, to life.

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us;
God save the Queen!
