Boston is expected to get 16-24 inches.

DC got 8 to 9 inches (which is enough to close schools and stuff, even here in the snow belt of Michigan)

Baltimore got about a foot, and Philadelphia a foot to a foot and a half.

In Connecticut up to two feet have fallen. Up to 30 inches is forecast for the Hartford area.

That's a major snow storm... by anybody's standards.

In Michigan today, the sun was shining, although it was cold. Just had to mention that :)

Even if that's the official total for DC, I think it is exaggerated. I our neck of the woods, at the most it was 6". Of course school is cancelled tomorrow as of 4 pm today (absolutely ridiculous IMHO). My kids are excited. Little do they know that I have special "chores" planned. Snow Day, my foot!

Denise_DPhiE 02-13-2006 09:46 AM

20+ inches here in Northern NJ and schools are open today.

Pittsburgh missed most of it, we got like maybe 2 or 3 inches, not enough to do anything.

As much fun as a snowday would be, it would seriously set me back at work.

Enjoy the fun everyone!

Optimist Prime 02-13-2006 10:33 AM

no snow time fun, it stopped and then started to melt

Schools are closed here in Connecticut. I'm telecommuting today - my rule is, if schools are closed, I work from home. I will probably get some flak for it tomorrow, but I'll be alive and in one piece.

Not in (most) of Hudson County!! Yeah!

daffodils 02-13-2006 05:27 PM

20+ inches would shut my city down for a WEEK, at least! Nope, us south of the Mason-Dixon line just hear the word *snow* and bread, milk, eggs, and toilet paper fly off the shelves like there's no tomorrow.

They closed down my school from 12:30 on today. What's up Nyack, NY??? Is the snow really going to be that bad?

ETA: Now I gotta go move my car so it doesn't get plowed in! Boooo!

Xylochick216 03-02-2006 02:08 PM

We were originally supposed to get snow today.

It's now 75 degrees outside. I think our meteorologists are on crack.

We expect 7 inches of snow in NYC. You will probably get more in the suburbs.

GMUBunny 03-02-2006 06:37 PM

We've got at least 3" here in Saugerties, NY (bout 90 miles north of NYC). And it's still coming down. Yay...

DolphinChicaDDD 03-02-2006 06:49 PM

I'm a bit BITTER because it didn't really snow, so my classes are still on for tonight. Grrr...now I can slip slide my way down the mountian.

aephi alum 03-02-2006 11:35 PM

Yup, this was the storm that wasn't. 4-8" forecast; I think NYC ended up with 1" and CT got around 3".

It's when they forecast just 1/2" of snow that you should start to worry. :p

Tom Earp 03-19-2006 06:50 PM

It is March 19 in KC.

We are Predicted Snow 4-6 Inches Monday!

I a have a fire in the Fire Place as Freezing My A Wahaoo off!:(

This is not right!

Optimist Prime 03-20-2006 03:55 PM

Tom, are you okay?

It is supposed to snow about 3 inches here tonight, which means everyone will be driving like maniacs because "i got 4 wheel drive, so f*ck it"

seriously, what good is 4x4 if you can barely freaking drive on road? I hope these people aren't sreious offroaders, they'd tip over and get hurt.

Tom Earp 03-20-2006 08:37 PM

NO, Bill, this sucks!!!!!!!!!!!:(

If they get down to Flurries, then I really worry! Last time they said Flurries, it was 16 inches!

Oh Well it is Kansas!

Pizza, left over is starting to smell, the smoke alarm hasnt gone off yet!;)

aephi alum 03-20-2006 09:48 PM

There's a device that weather reporters can use to tell easily what the current weather is. It's called a "window". The local weather reporters really need to invest in these devices.

"It's not snowing," I hear on my car radio as I drive to the train station in thickly falling snow...

Hope you're ok, Tom. Stay warm.

SigKapBling 03-21-2006 09:28 PM

i just would like to point out three things.

1.) I LIVE IN LAS VEGAS. ITS THE DESERT.

2.) i got my poor Jetta stuck in the snow on Sunday trying to go skiing up at one of the mountains about 45 minutes away. Apparently, the news didn't feel like telling anyone that Mt. Charleston was getting a huge snowstorm. So huge that the had to shut the road down half way up to the ski hill. The road I happened to have the Jetta stuck on. :(

and 3.) It continued to be 30 degrees here in Vegas again today, with a nice thunder and lightening storm that had instead of rain falling, snow.

I thought I moved out of New York to get away from this weather??

But not to boast, or even really jinx myself, but its said to be in the high 70's low 80's this weekend.

KatieKate1244 03-21-2006 11:33 PM

What's this sunshine people keep talking about? All I see are the grey clouds that hang over the valley I live in.

Back home in Southern OH got hammered, but all I saw was the snow/rain mixture ALL DAY LONG. I really miss snow days.

Oh Yes I heard about that today!:( SigKapBling.

Ah Spring, aint it great?

AGDee 03-22-2006 12:06 AM

I must admit, we were gloating at work today that we have had practically no snow this season and it has been above average in temperatures, except for today. We all agreed we would rather deal with 30 degrees with no snow though. Thank you Mr. Jet Stream for keeping the snow south of us.

I hope karma doesn't give us a blizzard now.
