I am way too old to put down all the concerts I have been to, but I can say that the very first one I went to was Neil Young, back in 1975 - Yikes!

I was a major concert goer so saw most of the rock bands of the era. Then I got into new wave and punk and saw some pretty crazy shows in the early 80's.

In the 90's and lately, I've mostly been to arena-type shows with big acts.

BUT, last weekend, I did the unthinkable (for a middle aged mom of 3)!! I took my 15 year old son to Austin City Limits where we saw in order-

Friday:
Joss Stone - girl's got some pipes
Spoon
The Killers - INCREDIBLE!!! We were around the 12th row back!

Saturday:
Raul Malo
Paolo Nutine - (staked out a Front Row spot for the rest of the day) - he was awesome!
Blue October - (to keep our front row for the last act)
Arctic Monkeys
ARCADE FIRE - AWESOME Like a religious experience;)

Sunday:
Yo Lo Tengo - (staked out our front row spot) We then split up for two acts
Me:
Robert Earl Keen
Lucinda Williams

Son:
Ben Kweller
Bloc Party

Met back up for:
WILCO - FABULOUS!

Left before Dylan because son informed me he had homework

Typical.

We had a wonderful time and are planning to go next year!!!! (or as long as he'll have me:))

Scandia 09-25-2007 07:49 PM

I saw the Def Leppard/Styx/Foreigner concert in August.

I will be going to see Nightwish in November.

And my best friend wants to attend this 10-band festival in November too- but I have no clue who most of the bands are.

Beach Boys
New Kids on the Block
Vanilla Ice
Willie Nelson
Reckless Kelly
Cross Canadian Ragweed (3x)
Gary Alan
George Strait
Dixie Chicks
Tim McGraw
Kenny Chesney
Bush
Smashing Pumpkins

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 09-26-2007 09:44 PM

I'm going to go see Chris Daughtry on Oct. 13 (17 more days!!! :D:D:D), and Mat Kearney is coming to my university on the 20th!

Nice one...not exactly the type of band common to these boards..but I dig them.

I saw Unwed Sailor at a random bar last week....only to discover through talking with them after their amazing show to learn that they are also Bear Colony (less the misdiagnosed-with-Chrones-disease lead singer!)

I'm the king of asking people if they want to go to a concert, only to have them say, "I don't know who that is"...I just don't share the same music taste as many of my friends...

But here's my list

Rob Zombie
Korn
Nine Inch Nails
BB King
Jimmy Eat World
Appleseed Cast <----don't actually remember this show - too drunk
Ben Kweller - twice, once was a solo acoustic show that was amazing
Rooney
The Polyphonic Spree

Local bands in Lincoln, Omaha, Kansas City
Danger Bob
Ruskabank
Ultimate Fakebook
Pomeroy
Copus
The Neil Wannamaker Carmody Band

The best show was the Polyphonic Spree - happened just about a month ago. Was UNBELIEVABLE. Of course if you have 23 people on stage, you probably better be crazy intense or you won't last very long...

FHwku 11-14-2007 07:11 PM

yall have seen a millions shows and they're all great.
here are the bigger shows i've seen:

Dave Matthews Band
Emmylou Harris
Bo Diddley
Tom Petty
Kings of Leon
Pipefitters (pipewrenchers?) <-- Lou Diamond Phillips brought his band to Ft. Campbell one year back in the early 90s. i'm just counting this one as a big show because he was in Young Guns.
...

i open up for/play with a lot of bands, so i see a lot of local/regional acts.

i'd like to see Led Zeppelin, Drive-By Truckers, and The Black Crowes. i haven't yet seen them.

macallan25 11-14-2007 08:20 PM

Black Crowes are the shit in concert....although it sucks that Marc Ford isn't with them anymore. Same with DBT......very good still, but not as good without Jason Isbell.

Zeppelin hasn't toured since 1977. Probably going to be difficult to see them.

cheerfulgreek 11-15-2007 12:38 AM

I haven't been to a concert in a while but I would love to see Cracker, the Eagles, and Blur.

SigmaChiCard 11-15-2007 02:31 AM

Don't know if I ever mentioned this, but I got to see Amy Winehouse last March in New York on the David Letterman show....it was before I'd heard her rehab song too much, so I thought it was good, plus there is something about a girl with tattoos

Zeppelin plays Dec 10th, London's O2 arena. it's one and done, though.

and i'm fairly certain you can't get tickets at face value anymore.

Feist in Louisville

I saw Feist a few nights ago & posted tons of pictures from the show. Check it out at BackseatSandbar.com

The show was amazing. It was the second time I've seen her, but this time I was in the second row, virtually center stage.

I saw them last night. (Free tickets) I'm not a big fan, but the music was good. I do have to say the presentation was cheesy & affected. My favorite person in the entire show was the young violinist, David Klinkenberg. He stole the show.

Not sure I'm going to add Brickman to my concert list. Oh well, I did list Dionne Warwick & Burt Bacharach -- I guess I will. Geez...what page is it on -- this thread is long!
