Do we know what quota was a Bama?
|
The numbers for Bama are a little misleading because alot of sororities did not have all of their girls show up after recieving their bids. One sorority we counted had 36 new members another 34 and one sorority I know had 20 girls not show up. This never happens at Bama! Gamma Phi had 31 and that is before snap bids. All the above numbers will change as the week progresses.

Re: BAMA
I think that happens sometimes. Girls get a bid to XYZ sorority and they decide not to go for whatever reasons. It seems a bit odd though that it would be more than like 1 or 2 girls for a few houses. More than that and there is a serious problem with the system. (Just my thoughts). |

We did use new release figures this year. It is VERY unusual for this many girls to not except bids.
|
Bama numbers
If the numbers are as messed up as suggested, the situation sounds really odd; especially since the names of the new women have already been released. http://uanews.ua.edu/anews2005/aug05/sorority082105.htm

We had one girl that did not show up on bid day and her name is listed in the article.
A side note. Joe Namath's daughter went ADTT at Bama! |
Is SDT not participating in formal recruitment at Bama?
|
SDT participated in the first round of rush. They also had a tent set up on sorority row that PNM could go to and relax in-between parties. There, members could chat with any girls that were interested. I'm not sure how many girls they got. I know that they are renting their house to Beta Theta Pi fraternity right now.

I can't imagine not having 20 girls show up!! |

Edited to answer my own question: Jessica Namath went ADPi!! I so wish my daddy were alive - he'd be so happy!!! He was really, really proud of all the WPA's quarterbacks! |
On that link, Jessica Namath is listed under Alpha Delta Pi!!!! :)
|
Why are they renting to Beta Theta Pi? Is Beta's house being remodeled? (Thanks!)

Georgia
Well, while dying on the vine here in the midwest, I finally found out what happened to the one I personally knew that went thru Georgia Recruitment. She is a new member of Sigma Kappa. Yipee! A new panhellenic sister!
|
I heard their house was being torn down.
|
Beta is rebuilding (plans for new house here).

Sorry I haven't checked in sooner folks but I was physically and emotionally beat. Plus I've been trying to reclaim my house from the disaster that my Hubby and kids left it in. Why is it that when Mama's away nobody knows how to pick up after themselves?
Anyways, yes Bama's ADPi is proud to welcome 64 fabulous women. (59 freshman and 5 upperclassmen) ADPi had an amazing Recruitment and the results showed it. I am so proud of our actives. This year they were so organized and everybody kept a positive attitude throughout, even in times of craziness. As to missing pledges, yes there seems to be a slew of them (though fortunately not for us). Usually it's not uncommon for a handful of women to not accept bids, but this year looks pretty extreme. I haven't had the time to check around to see if things have been worked out or exactly what the scoop is. I did hear some folks speculating on Bid Day about whether the new release figure system was at least partly to blame, but honestly I don't think that should have affected bid acceptance. A PNM who goes to 1, 2 or 3 Pref parties has to realize that she could be matched to one of those Chapters. If she knows in her heart that she does not want to be an ABC then she shouldn't accept their invitation to Pref. I'm wondering if the PNMs didn't understand the process completely. I plan on making some calls tomorrow. FYI - Joe Namath did make a brief appearance at the house on Bid Day, but he quickly left. Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to meet him, though I did catch a glimpse. The parents mobbed the poor man! He decided to leave because he said this was his daughter's special day and he didn't want to take anything away from that. To me that says he's a loving father and has a lot of class. |
UF Gainseville Bid Day?
How do we NOT have a PNM at UF? Today is bid day - anyone with details, please post or PM me!

zillini, congratulations to you and the adpis on a successful recruitment!! we've been thinking of you.

Let us know when you figure anything out about the missing PNMs. I think everyone on GC is pretty baffled by it all. But congrats to our Bama ADPis and welcome to all the new little Alphas! Sounds like they had a great rush. :) |
UF Recruitment
To my understanding, quota was 56 at UF this year. I am ecstatic to welcome 59 new Sigma Kappas into the Beta Tau chapter, and I am so proud of all of our ladies for putting together an amazing recruitment!
|
The new SigKap at Georgia from the Midwest is excited too!
|
did all the chapters at uf make quota?

I'm so glad SK at UF did so well! When i read that article on UF greeks needing improved it said their size was in the 30s. I think its awesome they more than doubled their chapter!
|
I think SK at UF got 30 girls just during formal recruitment last year so I'm pretty sure their size wasn't in the 30s. But they did do a good job. :)

UF's SK chapter had more than 90 when that article was printed. The did not have an NMs listed from the last year.
