YAY for Trojangal and Kappa Delta !!! That's awesome....even though i'm still confused about one of the clues (the one about the founding of 2 groups) but oh well!! Lol

I assume that she didn't know that four groups were founded at State Female Normal School (i.e. Longwood University)....I'm guessing she was only familar with KD and ZTA....but that is just me....it may have been a combination of KD and Tri Sigma or KD and ASA.

I greatly admire KD and trojangal, I know will make a great KD

Time for an AI update...

Things have been pretty busy and communication has beeen hectic, however, the lovely ladies of Kappa Delta have helped me get the information that I need to know about my upcoming initiation.

I can not tell you how excited and thrilled I am to become part of such a great sisterhood. I have already met so many wonderful sisters, and am looking forward to the experience of initiation.

So..I've created my little checklist for the things I need--

White Dress....ordered and will come in this next week

White shoes--looking for some that are comfortable..

Initiation date---right around the corner!

Initiation was this past Sunday, and it was one of the most special days in my life. There were so many neat things about initiation and everything surrounding it. It was beautiful, and wonderful!

* One of the nicest things that happened about initiation--I had a KD sister fly in from California to be with me during my special time! It was so exciting to have her here--during her visit here, we drove over to the University of Alabama, and saw the Zeta chapter, which is the oldest continuing chapter we have. The house was beautiful! This sister and I spent a lot of time together over the weekend, and I was thrilled with the KD surprises that she had for me!
* On Sunday, we arrived at the house at 12:00. While there, the sisters came up and introduced themselves, and they were so wonderful. The current sisters were happy to meet me, and were excited about my initiation---I don't think the New Members knew that there were going to be not one, but two AIs that day. Earlier that week, I had found out that another lady was also going to be initiated as well with me, and that some of the national leadership team was going to be present for that. We got some great pictures of all of us who were initatiated that day--myself, the other AI, and 18 chapter sisters.
*When the ladies arrived, along with the other AI, it turned out that one of the ladies was the Past National Vice President! She has been on the National Board for 12 years. She talked to all of us before initiation--about how special it was. She also told the chapter about the two of us being AIs, and how extremely rare it is--not unheard of, but very rare. She had been one of the council members who had voted on my application--and then it clicked to me--one of the National Officers who had voted on me was at my initiation! Something else that was really really special about her being there as well---she wore one of the original Kappa Delta badges--the silver and green pin, and it was beautiful to see!
*After initiation, the chapter had a reception for all of the new members, and that gave us a chance to talk and get to know each other better. The New Member Educator came up, and presented me with a goody bag full of KD stuff--it was the same bag that they had given to their girls on Bid Day, and they thought that since I was an initiate of their chapter, that I deserved one as well! After initiation, both the chapter and the leadership members were expressing how they hoped I would be around to help them and take part in activities! One of the leadership team asked me if I was planning to be in Birmingham for a while! I told her I was, and she was happy to hear that, saying that she knew I could definitely be put to use!

The whole experience was mind-blowing. I've had to take a few days to absorb everything. Right now, though, I'm enjoying the memories and the beautiful pin that my "big sis" pinned me with until I recieve my own.

The true t ing that has meant so much to me, though, has been the warmth of the Greek world by people here on the board. I've had NPC sisters send me cards and presents for my initiation! I would not have found my home without all of your love and support!
