Allison, you are a ungrateful child. It's your parents fault.
|
I saw the one this weekend where the two friends did the "16 in the City" and were charging an entrance fee to raise money for St. Jude's, and were proud because they raised $50,000. Great that they're actually doing SOMETHING for charity, but they could have skipped the $500,000 they spent on the party and given that to St. Jude's.

I was a little surprised at the location of her party. I was actually there several months ago with my boyfriend for a concert. The place is in Clearwater, Florida. It is actually a nice place when you see it in person. But still, for a girl who got a Jaguar, I would expect her to pick a more exclusive location. Oh by the way, I HATE Allison. She is awful. |

It was weird because in other SS episodes, you see the girls obsessing over "the perfect dress". I couldn't believe what she chose for her first outfit and nearly had a convulsion when she changed into jeans. Honey, when you gotta wear a white tank top to cover up your ta-tas (not to mention spend seconds in every scene 'adjusting') you wore the wrong thing to your party and you probably deserved to get barfed on. I caught the middle of it and yes i loathe Allison. But who is her father?? I didn't recognize if she was a product of a famous person or just filthy rich.
|
I wonder what some of these girls chances are of having a good rush after they look like brats on MTV. Unlike some news stories that come and go - these girls WILL be remembered.

I read on another MB that Ava ended up at UCSB, but I'm not sure if she went Greek. Who the hell would want her? I'm curious to see where the Bettencourt triplets (Fremont, CA) ended up. |
From the Atlanta Journal-Constituation re Allison
Ah, to be 16 again Apparently the party just doesn’t stop for some privileged teenagers. First Atlanta’s Allison Mathis was chosen by MTV to have her birthday party recorded for its “My Super Sweet 16” show. Entertainment mogul Jermaine Dupri made an appearance, hip-hop group G-Unit performed, WXIA-TV covered it as news, and Mom and Dad handed her the keys to a brand-new Mercedes SUV. Then just this past week, the Paideia student was interviewed on the cable channel’s “TRL” countdown show. And on Monday night, the daughter of entertainment attorney Charles and Cyndi Mathis will have 200 or so folks over at Justin’s Restaurant & Bar in Buckhead for a viewing party of her episode, complete with red carpet. All this made us wonder what she hopes for her 17th. “I’m not really tired of celebrating my 16th yet,” Mathis told Buzz on Friday (her birthday was Aug. 26). “But as for my 17th birthday, really, I’m kind of looking past that, to college.” http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/sha...ners_show.html |

If they joined sororities, I bet they'd all have it posted on their myspace / facebook profiles.. |

After watching Allison, my first thought was BOGUS! (page 26 of the BAP Handbook):
Bogus: Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the most genuine BAP of them all? Mirror: Not You, not you, my dear. You're too busy hiding behind your expensive gear. bo*gus\bo-ges\ n, usu. cap B: a. An imposter who is not an authentic BAP. b. Her BAP status is a figment of her imagination. c. A greedy gut. :p Quote:

One other thing, what was the deal with her "dubutante coming out" prior to the party? Did she participate in a cotillion? Funny, last time I checked, floating down the grand stairs of your home in a tight dress didnt count as a deb coming out...
|
I had the same thoughts about her "coming out". I thought the dress she wore for that was a million times better than what she wore to her party.
And about Point Loma Nazarene. They only have locals. I think they're all religiously focused too. PLNU is one of those schools where the kids are not supposed to drink/date/dance/etc. |

To add some thought on PLNU it is a gorgeous campus, right on the cliffs of the pacific ocean. It is a deeply religious school, however it is still a college. I'm not sure about the campus life, because people don't go there to party or get a typical college experience.

Finally got to watch the first 2 episodes last night and I think those were 2 of the worst episodes to date. I couldnt stand either of them.
OTW - Agreed on Allison's outfits...jeans? Seriously? And the horse that Cher rode to hand out her invitations was a bit ridiculous IMO. Nothing "cool" about that. Her float looked stupid and cheap too even after they confronted the builders. Oh and her mom sounded like Fran Drescher which got old fast! Here's hoping the rest of the season gets better. |

Well, duh! I'm way past my Sweet Sixteen and I know you weren't referring to me. Just wanted to let you know that many biracial people do not want to be called half-breeds, mixed breeds, oreos, or mutts.

I know that if I were to use the term anywhere else it won't be welcomed at all. I'm aware of that. It's not a word I'd use everyday. But in this case it was appropriate. I mean, look at Cindy. She definitely looked like an animal. |
Quote:
Yes she was. |

My bad. I figured OTW was talking about how she looked half-human, half-alien... as did her mother. |

The post that you've so conveniently quoted (and bolded) was an explanation of WHY it's so easy for me to throw that term out. Two different things. :) |

I'm a freaking multi-breed (is that a word?) in myself. How the fcuk would I be racist? It'd be like hating on myself! |
If you were referring to her looking like an animal, that's one thing. Glad to know you weren't talking about her in a racially insensitive way.
