there is a young lady here in houston you all should check out. her name is shei atkins. she's gospel/inspirational and she's what aaliyah would've sounded like if she did gospel.
she'll soon be going on tour and i've had the chance to see her sing live twice (she sang this morning at my undergrad chapter's prayer breakfast). you can get her cd at cdbaby.com. you can listen to samples of the song. please, please, please check her out and buy it because you won't be disappointed. she's such a sweet young lady with an enormous amount of potential and i'd love to know what you all think about her!! |

if you get a chance to check her out, let me know what you thought. as a matter of fact, if anyone followed that link and sampled her album, let me know what you think. i know some of her "people" and i know that they would love to hear other people's opinions.

I've listened to "That name" by Yolanda Adams like 6 times in a row. I went to this talent show finale at my church yesterday and this 12-yr old sung it and TO' it up. This song is so beautiful.
|
I definitely want to check out Shei Atkins.
Another young sister doing her thing is KiKi Sheard, the daughter of Karen Clark-Sheard. Her cd is more contemporary gospel than traditional, but I like the tracks and the lyrics. You can definitely tell she comes from a strong lineage of singers. I think she did a great job for her debut. If I had to pick a favorite, it would certainly be hard. |

I have to agree with you 1SD that is a beautiful song. Some friends of mine had it song at their wedding and the girl that sang it sounded exactly like Yolanda Adams. It was just beautiful. |

If you are looking for something more R&Bish (somewhat similar to secular music), then you will love Ramiyah's CD.
They performed at a Single's Conference I attended;they were AWESOME. In other words, I hardly listen to the radio because their CD is on constant repeat. I believe that they performed at the major conference in Atlanta this year, I believe it was Mega Fest. In terms of a slower, more mellow CD then check out Javen's latest CD, Change. It's truly moving. The entire CD is good. :D |
Israel & New Breed will be performing at our church on Nov. 11th. I'm sooooo excited, I love their CD.

PM me your address and I will send you "New Season". Everyone needs this piece of inspiration in their lives :) The most uplifiting song on there to me is "Lifting of Hands".
You may also like Martha Munnizzi's latest. She's "vanilla chocolate" but her cd has done some strong ministering to me. Do any of you guys have Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth's new cd. "Suddenly" and "Thank you for your Grace" are my songs!!! |

Shekinah Glory Ministries' (known for Praise is What I Do) new cd is out. I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm excited to do so. I have to get in a meditating mood to listen though!

Shea Norman...
Is anybody familiar with Shea Norman? I heard dude on Bobby Jones' Gospel last week. He did a real nice piano piece, had a real good sound. I bought his CD, “My Heart Depends on You,” on the strength of his performance; the CD is tight. He's produced by Fred Hammond.

I am feeling "Understand" by Smokie Norful right now. I picked up Donnie McClurkin's new one the other day. Yet to listen to it, but I'll be back to let you know what I think. |
Kierra "KiKi" Sheard, daughter of Karen Clark-Sheard, has a cd out. It's called "I Owe You". I think it's pretty good. I'm so lovin her song "You Don't Know"...she did that one!

She's recording her new album live at Greater Emmanuel Institute in Detroit on May 1st. I'll be there with fa sho! In addition, y'all might want to check out the following albums by the Clark family:

I think I might try to attend. I've never heard her preach, but I KNOW she's anointed!! |
^^^If you were in attendance, I was the only one there with the CD cover. OMG I feel so blessed that I was able to sit and talk with Dr. Cole for a few minutes. She is SUCH a sweet sweet woman!! I'm still geekin right now but yeah she was AWESOME!!
|
I know I'm late, but Smokey Norful's new one is a really good album.
|
A friend and I were on the way to lunch the other day and we were listening to the local gospel station and Kirk Franklin's "Something About the Name Jesus" came on and I almost gave a shout in the car. That wasn't my first time hearing the song, but, that was my first time really listening to the words. It's been down in my spirit ever since.

Karen Clark Sheard's Live Recording!
I attended Karen's live recording for the new album last night at Greater Emanuel, here in Detroit. Man, Karen sang her butt off! The place was packed! Donald Lawrence, Irael and The New Breed, J Moss, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Caroline Kilpatrick, Marvin Winans, and Kierra Sheard was all there...amongst others. The highlight of the night is when the Dynamic Clark Sisters took the stage and sanged "You Brought The Sunshine" . Man, Twinkie, Dorinda, Karen, and Jacky tore that song up. I'm glad they only sung one song, because Twinkie was ready to wear the crowd out!
Whenever this album drops, I would strongly suggest you guys pick it up. It's worth it! |

Ruben Studdard's cd is more gospel than anything to me. He's singing songs that the Winans, Canton Spirituals, and other have already put out. Ricky Dillard's cd is always TIGHT! Mississippi Mass Choir's cd is great! My brother wrote the second song on the album. WOW 2005-If you don't have it, get it. It's great! I love all the songs on it. |
