I have been LMAO reading this thread!

Oh hayle to the naw! I got some cousins who have given their kids some GHETTO-FIED names. They wanted the names to be African. Well jeez, go buy an African name book so you 1. know how to pronounce the name and most importantly YOU KNOW WHAT THE NAME MEANS!

Funny I was talking to my hairstylist (WHO IS FROM AFRICA) and she was trippin about the whacked names that folx here give their kids.

The funniest one was someone naming their kid "LaTrine". HELLO?! Do you know what a latrine is? Did you name her that because she stunk all the time?

because I was talking to some of my colleagues about students we had had in our school. One lady reminded me about a little girl I had forgotten about:

La Tissue

I had a student in one of my classes a couple weeks ago named LaTrina, my parents almost died laughing when I told them someone actually had that name.

But the BEST/WORST name I have come across so far . . .

DeLisha

What profession other than stripper could someone with the name DeLisha go into????

(If there is anyone reading this that has either of these names, please PM me and I will edit, I am not trying to offend anyone.)

:)

Had to bring to the top

in order to highlight the top "Eunike" names of 2004

I tell ya...they wonder why kids abuse their parents....

eunike names of 2004

The names found near the bottom of the 2004 BabyCenter Baby Names List reveal how far some parents will go to help their child stand out. In fact, the 2004 list contained Eunike, Uniquee, and I'Unique -- all girls' names. The 2004 BabyCenter Baby Names List also shows more variety in girl names, with 9% of girls' parents compared to 6% of boys' parents selecting a name spelled like no other.

More ignorant names

I taught middle school in South Central LA and here is a sampling of the names I've encountered.

-DezMashay (he's a boy)
-Lil' Iris (this is what is printed on her birth certificate - momma and grandmomma are Big Iris and Big Iris Jr.)
-Earthy (a boy)
-DiAngle (parents must've loved geometry)
-Orangejello and Lemonjello (twins but the names are pronounced like Orange'lo and Lemmonge'lo)
-Rick'Quana (momma's name is Juanita; daddy is Ricky)
-Jasmine (for a boy; mother thought she was going to have a girl and didn't have alternatives picked  )
-Shithead (pronounced Sha'thead)
- Asia Aryan (sadly, this is my cousin:( Her mother must've missed the history lesson on Hitler and the Germans)
-Honee Cherry Berry (full name...no lie)
-Kashmoney (pronounced Kashmonet)
-DaShana (pronounced Dah-sha-Nay)

Enjoy!!!

In high school I knew a girl named Liisa. Pronounced just like Lisa, but spelled differently enough that she had to correct everyone, everywhere, every day. What is the point?

I still remember going to kindergarten with a girl and her little brother. They were African, and their names were Chika Chukudebelu and Chukudum Chukudebelu. Twenty years later I am still fascinated by those names...anyone know what language they might be from?
