Thought I'd bump this up since rush is about to start at JSU. Baby Berry and Baby Berry Cousin, as well as Baby Berry Cousins 2 and 3, are very very excited and hoping that AOII will grab some great girls! (BBC is now rush chairman.)

Are the cousins all at the same chapter at the same time? The Nation is so large now, I'm confused. Somehow a flow chart needs to be posted!

Whoa, WOW!

carnation 03-15-2008 01:29 PM

As we come to the close of senior year for Baby Berry and BBCousin, I'd like to thank AOII for giving them a wonderful collegiate experience. I have been hugely impressed by what they (and my oldest, who was in the Georgia Southern chapter) have gotten to do and the sisterhood they've had.

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!!!!!!!:):):)

I'm glad your family has had such a great experience with us! Your whole family is like a mini-NPC! Very impressive! I'm glad AOII is so well represented. Ha!

Adopt-a-Lab-GA 03-15-2008 04:38 PM

Wow

Wow, this thread is so interesting! I love how you the one member listed the Greek history of her family...what a wide variety of panhellenic memberships. I saw AOII at Ga Southern! I was AOII at UGA and GA Southern. Loved both chapters and had wonderful experiences during my times there!:D

Also, my father taught at Ga College since the late 60's and I grew up in the campus faculty apartments until I was 8 yrs. old. The Phi Mus and ADPi's babysat me and my father's department head was a DZ. All of the Greeks at Ga College are in antebellum homes near the college or in the historic district. I always wonder what sorority I might have pledged had I stayed at Ga College.

It will be exciting to find out what chapter Babyberry #7 may pledge...I am new to greekchat and will have to keep an eye on this story.

Carnation-
I haven't posted on GC in a long, long time, but I read your last couple of posts and the passage time certainly slammed me in the face. I can't believe Ballerina & Blazer Cheer's recruitments were so long ago!!! It really seems like just yesterday!

LucyKKG 03-16-2008 08:40 PM

Wow! That's 9 different orgs, right? NPC family, for sure!

BabyPiNK_FL 03-16-2008 08:55 PM

According to this thread (http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?t=89341) "Sweet Tea (who I believe to be #6) went PHI MU this fall! YAY!

honeychile 03-16-2008 09:28 PM

ONE of us is still hoping to get some azure blue on the Carnation Nation flag!! ;)

But we are very happy to have the Macon Magnolias represented!

Seriously, it does seem that way - just like kids IRL!!

carnation 03-16-2008 09:42 PM

LOL. BlazerCheer has been out of college for over 2 years and Ballerina is finishing up at UGa...her transfer cost her some hours.

And BabyPiNK is right, SweetTea is daughter #6!

:) It occurred to me at the mall today--*I don't have to shop for recruitment clothes this year!* :) Yeah! A four-year break!

ETA: cut that out, honeychile! We haven't seen any silver blue yet!

baci 03-19-2008 12:17 PM

what a wonderful thread!

Thetagirl218 03-19-2008 04:51 PM

This is such a great thread!

Maybe one of the other daughters yet to rush can wear the Black and Gold!

aopinthesky 04-03-2008 08:31 PM

BB and BB Cousin

I will miss them so much. It seems like just yesterday we were watching them holding hands and running out on the quad in their bid day shirts. BB makes me laugh every time I see her. She was so funny at recruitment last year! They are the best sisters..

carnation 04-04-2008 08:51 AM

Thank you, aopinthesky! :) I still want to hear what on earth they did last fall that was so crazy. We're still hearing new stories from her high school teachers about things she did 4-5 years ago.

Thanks for sharing their story, Carnation. I still say one of these days you will get your very own Pi Phi.

It never fails - each time I see this statement, I can envision Carnation all but throttling Daughter #12, if she even considered anything but Pi Phi!

But I have to get you snaps, Carnation, for raising such a Panhellenic family!

carnation 06-08-2008 09:55 PM

I've been pushing schools with Pi Phi chapters at daughter #9, the next to go.:D We were in Alabama today and when we were in the mall, I kept saying,"Look at the Auburn stuff! Wouldn't it be great if you went there? Or Bama, they're okay too! (the Lord will smite me dead for that one.) Or hey, we could visit Birmingham Southern this summer, they're right up the road!"

She gave me a pained look and said she was just fine with Valdosta or Georgia Southern, where most of her sisters went. And my non-Greek husband gave me a pained look and said, "I know why you're gung-ho about those 3 schools..."

Oh well, can't blame a woman for trying...

baci 06-08-2008 10:03 PM

You sure can't!^^

Oh nooooo! Maybe she'll change her mind before then?

Who am I kidding? I'll happily take another member of the Carnation Nation at Georgia Southern! :D

Benzgirl 06-09-2008 06:22 PM

Lots of Pi Phi chapters up here and I would be happy to be a surrogate mom for her during the semester.

BuckeyeTriDelta 06-09-2008 06:45 PM

There are Pi Phi chapters at Denison where I advise and Ohio State..they aren't Southern by any means, but still fine schools. ;)

Oh, we'll definitely take any of the clan up here! Send 'em on up north! :D

carnation 06-09-2008 07:44 PM

Thank you, guys! She really should look around the country. :)

We've been told by some voice professors that she should have a good shot at a scholarship. (We think she sounds like a Disney Princess!) What we should do is go through any scholarship offers she may get and only restrict them to schools with Pi Phi chapters--no, no Carnation! Don't even go there!

But it's so tempting.

nancyagd86 06-09-2008 08:17 PM

help! We've been Hijacked!

Somebody please get rid of this cellphone nonsense--it truly looks like some Nigerian scam but for phones! AARGH!

BuckeyeTriDelta 06-09-2008 10:25 PM

Ohio University is in Southern Ohio and has a Pi Phi chapter that has been on campus for 114 years...;)

violetpretty 06-09-2008 10:39 PM

If she's interested in studying voice, maybe she should check out Depauw's Peabody school of music. A friend of mine goes there and is studying music performance, and she joined Kappa this spring. Great music school, strong Greek system, and a Pi Phi chapter!

angelove 06-10-2008 10:36 AM

Carnation, how old daughter #9? And would she be interested in seeing how close FSU's top-notch music school is to the Pi Phi house on campus?

carnation 06-10-2008 10:44 AM

She's a rising high school freshman and sure she would! She's a real joiner--interested in all things musical plus she just made varsity cheering!

Her brothers are a rising junior and rising senior and their uncles and cousins are broaching the topic of the wonderfulness of Kappa Sig, btw. LOL!

NutBrnHair 06-10-2008 11:12 AM

Carnation, you tell #9 that I said that as a Chi Omega legacy she has 173 choices of where to attend college! ;)

honeychile 06-10-2008 11:23 AM

Just out of curiosity, are/were ALL of the carnation daughters cheerleaders?

carnation 06-10-2008 11:34 AM

Nut, you are bad! ;) Actually, while I was hyping those Bama colleges, BlazerCheer was standing there rolling her eyes at me. She knew what I was doing too!

honeychile, of the 7 who have gone to high school so far, 6 have cheered and the 7th did band and soccer. I kind of doubt that daughters 8 and 9 will cheer because one's very athletic and the other is tiny and would have to fly but she's afraid of heights.
