As Senusret says it shows on up on the APO National website as an Interest Group. (http://www.apo.org/show/How_to_Start...r/Chapter_List , you can do your own search if you want)

When I look for Alpha Phi Omega at ucsc.edu on google, I get a number of hits, *most* of which are from a staffer who was there *years* ago (Brother Rodden), excluding those, I get one hit at http://people.ucsc.edu/~avanever/ which talks about involvement in the Alpha Phi Omega interest group being an activity.

Also the Section 4 (Northern California) Blog has a posting from Ajay Sharman, the section chair (head alumni volunteer for Northern CA) at http://www.aposection4.org/profiles/...:BlogPost:2161 where he talks about the group at UCSC (Alpha Gamma Nu) getting started on rechartering (posted July 2008). Try sending to section.4.chair@apo.org to contact him, if that doesn't work let me know and I'll get one that doesn't go through a redirection. The other option would be to contact the member of the National Board over Ajay at region.10.director@apo.org or contacting the director of chapter services at the Alpha Phi Omega national office at judy.mitchell@apo.org or 1-816-373-8667 extension 13.

Let me know how else I can help.

Yeah UCSC's website is hopeless for Greeks. When I search for my own org, I only find rooms we've reserved and the fact that we're registered with the school.

A friend of mine was a brother at another school, so she's super involved and excited with this interest group. Yay!

No problem. I probably use that search page about once a week.

Some schools are better than others. I've seen schools where each student group was given their own webarea and others where if you are lucky you can find it in an on-line version of the school catalog.

Cool on your friend. Do you have a feeling for what the reaction of the Social Greeks at UCSC is to be toward Alpha Phi Omega?

As for help in the area, UCSC is in Section 4, the active chapters there are at Cal State -Fresno, Cal State-Sacramento, Cal State-East Bay, SFState, San Jose State, Stanford, Cal-Berkeley, Cal-Davis, USF and U of the Pacific.

And my statement before should have been "let *us* know how *we* can be of help"...

Greetings Brothers,

Just wanted to reintroduce myself. That's me above.

One of my goals for 2009 was to become a life member and as of this week I have officially become a Life Member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity Inc!!!!! I've been feeling so disconnected from the organization since leaving school and now I feel I'm making strides in the right direction :D

Hi everyone, while doing a vanity search on google, I stumbled upon this post (i am the owner of the "avanever" site), and would like to extend my support to anyone who has any questions! =D I will probably direct this thread to my VP of Public Relations. But yeah, nice to see we've hit recognition on a larger scale now, and I hope too meet you all. Good luck to CSUF on chartering!:D

Cool. Vanity searches. :) What position do you hold in the UCSC extension effort?

Thanks Bro TX Diva. I received my life membership Pin yesterday and my life member certificate and card today and was so happy.

Not being active has not felt right when I made the committment, so this is a step in the right direction for me.

University of Maryland, College Park (which is what most people think of as Maryland in the sports sense) is Epsilon Mu (which is active)

University of Maryland, Baltimore County is Alpha Zeta Pi (Brand New)

University of Maryland, Eastern Shore is Rho Omicron (inactive)

I'm on staff in Maryland (section 86), but rep to a school in the University System of Maryland, Frostburg State (Alpha Gamma Chi).

I'm actually an alumnus of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh (Kappa chapter)

Not sure if *that* answered your question (or for that matter anyones...)

Welcome!

Just curious, what is COB and what is Admin (presumably an office position in the chapter)?

Thank you! :D

COB is a term coined by NPC and it stands for "continuous open bidding". COB is basically informal recruitment. Admin is short for Vice-President of Administration, the person whom takes care of turning in our paperwork, pledge forms, etc. We refer to that position in Nu Gamma simply as "Admin".

Pledged: I had my petitioning ceremony in Fall '08, crossed in Spring '09.
Offices I've Held: Fellowship Chair ('08-'09), President ('09-'10)
Why I Joined APO: I heard about it from two of my roommates who had joined the petitioning group the year before me. I love giving back to the community but can never find local opportunities, and APO seemed like the best way to go!
Anything Else: I am so happy to be a part of APO - it's been a very fun ride going from a PG to a chapter (just this month, on the 18th!) and I'm looking forward to everything we have coming!

Offices/positions Held: Corresponding Secretary (Fall 2003)
President (2004 Calendar Year)
Representative to Section 91 Council (2004-2005)
Member Region II Toast Song Committee (2004)

Reason for joining: I first heard about APO from my scoutmaster and from the Order of the Arrow Handbook. I read about it and my leader, who was an alumnus of the Rutgers chapter, always spoke highly of his time in the chapter so I decided to give it a try.

Welcome Minerva! Being part of a (re)chartering group is an experience that some people with a great deal of experience in the Fraternity never get to do.

Chapter/School: Psi Phi Chapter/ Tennessee State University

Pledged: Spring 2009

Offices I've Held: None.

Why I Joined APO: In 2007 I first saw the letters on campus and was intrigued about what the organization stood for. My first encounter with them came later that year in the Fall semester, I was walking with a friend and we came to a program hosted by or joint hosted with APO, I remember getting a flyer and held on to it to study. One night I woke up and typed in Alpha Phi Omega, researched it and loved what it stood for. I attended numerous interest meetings for probably two years until I had the time to pledge.

Anything Else: I plan on attending conventions and visiting other chapters. I also plan on chartering new chapters in the future so that APO will continue to grow.
