I hate "Lose Control" by Missy Elliott. Fat Man Scoop gets on my last nerve!

Okay I feel better now that I've vented.

Dedicated2Delta 06-30-2005 10:07 AM

There are several songs that I hate right now:

1) That "So Icy" song gets on my nerve.

2) Anything by "Fiddy" Cents.

3) I'm tired of hearing about Mike Jones.

4)"Let me Hold You" by Bow Wow and Omarion

5) Fat Joe's "Get it Poppin"

Any the song that always makes me change the station.....

Nivea's "Meet me at the McDonald's Parking Lot" song.
I'd rather turn on the country station than listen to that crap!

You have got to be kidding. I refuse to believe she wrote a song about that. First the washateria and now McDonald's. That girl has a thang for anything that only requires a few quarters. She sho' is easy to please. I guess you can take the girl out of poverty but you can't take the poverty out of the girl. :(

MightyQuinn 06-30-2005 10:29 AM

I am with you on that "So Icy" crap! Not only is the song stupid but isn't his name something stupid like Gucci Mane? I am a true hip hop lover and I understand that the art can take on many different forms but some of the stuff that's out nowadays makes me sick!

Here are more crappy songs to add to the list:

1) Grind wit me- Pretty Ricky
2) Mr. Lonely- Akon

I cannot stand Pretty Ricky. Where I live, they play that song every hour. They look a little feminine to me and I swear they're no taller than 4"2.

I also can't stand Mike Jones "Back Then" . It seems peopel can make songs about anything these days

Conskeeted7 06-30-2005 11:39 AM

50 cents has a bunch of horrible songs on the radio these days. I turn instantly.

Omarion needs to stop making music. Period.

There's some song about being fresh to def that is just awful. They actually say that their 'things' are in their pants and that makes them fresh?!?!? What?

Mike Jones - back then they didn't want you and I find it hard to believe that much has changed.

Missam05 06-30-2005 11:42 AM

I hate that song I think it's by Life- Must be nice.

He CAN SOOOOOOOO NOT sing..

Dedicated2Delta 06-30-2005 12:01 PM

Oh my goodness....if you were in Toledo saying that, you might get jumped. They play his songs EVERYDAY, ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAYUM DAY! They will drive you crazy about Life.

Matrix1913 06-30-2005 12:40 PM

It's really amazing how songs these days have no substance or style. Anyone can sit down and write a song that may actually be a hit. I may get criticism about this but R. Kelly's 5 chapters of Trapped in the Closet is a prime example. The melody is nice but the lyrics could've been better.

..."He approaches the closet!
...."I pull out my beretta!"
...."He's now opening the closet...CLOSET...CLOSET!!!"

Nuff said!

And I really can't believe that Nivea has a song about McDonald's

Dedicated2Delta 06-30-2005 01:16 PM

Nivea Lyrics

Here is the first part of the "Parking Lot" song......its a H.A.M!

"Parking Lot"

Get crunk get crunk get crunk (let me see ya) get crunk get crunk get crunk (everybody)
Get crunk get crunk get crunk (let me see ya) get crunk get crunk get crunk (hey yea)

Home with no where to go, my mans in the bed out cold
Calling you on your phone three and four times in a row
And I ain't gone quit until I finally get you to pick up the line
And you want to know what I want Well, it's a 11 O'clock right on the dot
And I had this feeling I had to see my shawdae, to see my homie
But it's got to be with the quickness gotta get back home to my man before he miss this
Are you with this, I'm telling you

I need to see you now can you get out my man is at the house so
Meet me at the McDonald's parking lot
For it get to late I cant wait it's just around my way so
Meet me at the McDonalds parking lot
Just over the hill at the light take a right hang a left on harris drive
Meet me at the McDonalds parking lot (Yeah)
So what you waiting for hit the door put the pedal to the floor
Meet me at the McDonalds parking lot

preciousjeni 06-30-2005 04:13 PM

I can't stand:

1) That bananas song -- I thought it had died out but I just heard it again.

2) "Let's Get it Started" -- along with anything else by the Black Eyed Peas

ETA: Ok - Does ANYONE remember the song "Thug Life" by "Thugz Nation"? It's on their "Fresh Off Tha Mothership" album. This group came out of a small town in Georgia and I remember a time when that song was all you ever heard on Georgia radio.

Here's a link to the song's remix:

I'm sorry but I just can't seem to Get Lifted. I do like a couple of the songs on there but the whole CD is no classic as some proclaim it to be

2Tuff2Quit 06-30-2005 07:30 PM

I absolutely hate anything and everything by John Legend. He sounds like a screaming cat with his tail caught under the rocking chair, and he needs to cough that cold out of his throat....that will clear that scratch right up.

I don't like that song by Pretty Ricky..first off that is false advertising...cuz don't nothing about them say pretty anything, and the song is just stupid.

I dont like that 112 song already know...I think it is nasty and they should just sit down somewhere.

I think that P Diddy's group B5 needs to just go back to highschool, I don't see them being around very long. It seems like they are trying to fill that B2K void.

I don't like Bobby Valentino...he sounds like his nose is stopped up or something. I just don't know about him yet...

I don't do that new Fatty Koo thing...I dont even know what that is about but I saw the video...and ...NO..that 's all I can say about that right there.

I hate everything by Marques Houston...He REALLY just needs to sit down somewhere...I heard IMX was trying to come out with a new album....WHY!!!!!!!

starang21 06-30-2005 08:04 PM

PR and the mavericks...the wackest group EVER out of miami

that hollaback girl song....

jitterbug13 06-30-2005 08:47 PM

Songs I hate....

Mr. Lonley--makes me want to throw the radio out my car!

Grind With Me--don't like the song and the outfits they were wearing at the BET awards preshow was something Jodeci wore 10 years ago! And they are not pretty!

So Icy--Gucci Mane should have gotten lock up for just releasing that song!

I'm A Hussler--Cassedy (sp) had everything going for him-a good beat, Jigga on the hook, even Mary J. on the remix. But his rapping is so bad that it messes up the song! Another one who should have been locked up for his song!

You Already Know--I know one thing, 112 was better with Diddy!

There are probably others that I can't think of but there are a lot of songs on the radio I can do without!

How could I forget how much I loathe this song?!?!? Any song that has a grown woman practicing spelling "bananas" is garbage to me. How did this even make it to air? She actually has a decent voice, so why is she trying to sound like she's 10 years old? Please grow up and make some real music.

I can't believe this gets played on radio stations.

christiangirl 06-30-2005 11:45 PM

I'm gonna cosign on that "holla back girl" it's not that I don't like it, it's just played SO MUCH to not even be that good. I think it just bothers me that a horrible song by someone well -known can be played out so much, like people are trying to say "come on, you liked her before, just listen to it 24/7 and it'll grow on you, promise."

I'm also against "Just a little bit" if that's what it's called. That one rubs me the wrong way (and as much as it gets played, I'm chafing ).

I really tried to hard to get into this CD...really hard. But I just kept thinking to myself when I heard it--this is not innovative. It's just like the same garbage I hear on the radio. The only song I liked on it "Ordinary People". Hated the video though.

unspokenone25 07-01-2005 10:39 PM

Ugh!

"Cater 2 You"

I really despise that song.

Anything by Mike Jones and Paul Wall...enough is enough w/ the dirty South rap. (might as well add Lil Jon to the mix)

"Karma" by Alicia Keys (sucks booty)

I know that this has been discussed on this Ave. but I have to put my .02 cents in..."Wait" is the worst song..EVER. Yes, the beat is tight but no matter how much you beep the lyrics out, children still know what dem boys are talking about.

UGH!!!

Oh..one more "Trapped in the Closet" Parts 1-5. I don't need to listen to a dang soap opera on the radio.

Too true, too true :D And why does he refer to himself in the 3rd person??? Mike Jones got dis...Mike Jones got dat...Urgghh!!!

I never EVER understood the appeal of Destiny's Children's "Souljah" - great, just what we need more Ghetto Self-Empowerment music.

Didn't Nivea do a song about a laundry-mat a couple of years ago??? What gives on the "reach an audience with a I.Q. of double negative zero" lyrics?

 enough with the dirty south? why? people in the south deserve deals and spins like everyone else. i don't understand. what would radio be if ALL we heard was east coast? that's not very fair. i understand not liking it. houston rap is an acquired taste (it took me a while to get used to it and i've been in houston since '98). atlanta rap is different too. but i just can't get with "enough with thed dirty south rap."

preciousjeni 07-02-2005 02:38 AM

This past semester, I was talking with one of my friends up here (from the Bronx) who swore up and down that all hip-hop and rap in the States goes through New York before it goes out to the rest of the country. There's no talking to him because he used to own a hip-hop/rap magazine that sold in the city. His favorite interview of all time was with DMX. (I don't want to say his name on this board, but if you know about NYC music magazines from the 1990s, PM me and we'll try to figure out which one it was.)

Anyway, I was saying that NYC was a powerhouse in the past and put out the big names in the genre originally. But, now that I've lived in both GA and NY, I realize that each area plays its own music the majority of the time. Unless an artist is REALLY well known, you pretty much have a different flavor from different places. I've never heard so much east coast rap (which I honestly don't like much at all) as I have since I've been up here.

And, I don't even listen to much else but Christian music as it is! It's when I'm flipping through the channels in the car sometimes that I come across stations like Hot 97 and it's ALWAYS some NYC rap. But, they play dirty south rap too -- they were killing "Wait" for a while there. Ok - so, I have to be honest. If when I'm flipping through the channels I hear any southern folks, I'll listen to it because I love the accents.

My secret pleasure is "Lovers and Friends" because it has all my good folks on it.

Edited because I straight typed the WRONG BOROUGH!

I'm not so much against it, but can somebody tell me what happened to independent woman and "if you pimp him, I congratulate you"? I'm not hatin' I just want to know where it went.

Then again, Beyonce was alone and lonely back then, wasn't she?

As a Native Houstonian (who still lives here in Houston :) ), this kind of rap is only one reflection of the lifestyle of 10% of the black people that live in the South. It is a sterotype (characature (sp??)). Hence, the requirements of a Dirty South rapper (i.e., Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans):

Gold teeth
A Pimp Cup (with an Energy Drink named after)
A "Twang" accent
Some "doves" on an Escalade w/ Candy paint
A third grade vocabulary
Screwed up and sippin on syzurp

The whole point is that I am not tired of Dirty South rap--I'm tired of the lack of imagination or eclectic taste. A true reflection of the South is what we need in Hip-Hop and for these reasons to listen to artists more substance such as:

The Roots
Common
Nas
Mos-Def
Talib Kweli
OutKast (who are not the stereotypical "Dirty South" rappers)
and many, many more... :D

i can understand a personal prefernce for a certain genre. however, when i read your original post, i got that you were implying that dirty south music should be over and that it shouldn't be played on radio and video stations. i didn't get the whole lack of imagination thing.

but, i wouldn't call the artist you name as a true reflection of the south because, as someone who is from the south, you know that there are a lot of "subcultures" down here that any one person could subscribe to. the same person who goes to paesanos on sunday to hear poetry could have gone to the red cat the night before to hear jazz or clarks to hear soul music and could be the same person at the m bar on thursday and dreams on friday to listen to rap and hip hop (as a houstonian, i'm sure you can appreciate my example).
