This thread is interesting. Notice the number of NPHCers who pledged junior year and the NPCers and IFCers who pledged freshman year.
Part of the reason is that for most NPHC orgs you must be at least a sophomore to pledge. |
I pledged fall 1996 - First Quarter of my Freshman year! :D

Never Pledged!:)
Founded a local and affiliated with LXA during the school year and was Initiated in 1966. So local was Founded in 1965! Graduated in 1967. I feel I missed a lot but did not in the same vein for what I did!:D |
I became a Founding New Member in Fall '00, my 1st semester of Freshman year... And became a Sister in Spring '01, 2nd semester of Freshman year. (I was one of a handful of the youngest Founders - everyone else were mostly Juniors, Seniors or in the Graduate program)

But most require sophomore status which is generally 24 credits. That's why people tend to be sophomores (and up). |
If it's done simply by credits, that's weird. I had more than 12 credit hours prior to starting college after passing AP exams and CLEP exams. Would I then be eligible for NPHC membership as a first semester freshman? Hypothetically, of course!
|
depending on the org and if you met their other requirements, yes.
