ruby and pearl badge, complete with crest guard and president's dangle???? I can't believe a chapter president would let her badge get away, although it's engraved with a number on the back, so it may be a family member who's selling it.

dakareng 08-16-2004 04:36 PM

It is possible that the family is selling the badge, or had previously sold the badge, and it is now being re-sold. In any event, chapter #323 is Illinois Eta. Badges originally were engraved with name and initiation date, then initials/ chapter/ date and later with just the member number. They stopped doing the personal engraving in 1978-9 (yes, I know that exactly because my sister's badge is engraved with her member number and mine is not). Anyone know someone from Millikin? That chapter was founded in 1912 and if you estimate an average of 20 new members/year, that would make this badge from 1958... so yes, it could be an estate sale because it is likely to be older than that. I couldn't do a sister search by member number.

Not to change the subject or anything, but I got a really cool 'unofficial' arrow pin from Ebay. It's silver and the arrow is intersecting 2 hearts. It's a cool variation of the Foundation's symbol (I'm sure unintentional but I'll be wearing it at the Officer's Workshop next month)

Wine&SilverBlue 08-16-2004 05:10 PM

oooh, post a pic if you can -- sounds gorgeous :)

angelove 08-23-2004 11:58 AM

WOW that is a lot of shotglasses.

piphimaggie 08-25-2004 11:22 PM

Is this Tyoregon that seems to win so many greek pin and para bids some kind of obsessed creep? Why would he want an Arrow from the late 19th century? I can maaybe understand the pins, but the arrow? Maybe a PiPhi broke up with him and now he's obsessing over that part of her life :p

dakareng 08-26-2004 12:03 AM

Are you sure that Tyoregon is NOT a Pi Phi? To some extent, wanting 100+ year old issues of the journal is more understandable to anyone with an interest in history. It's hard for the casual observer to know that a pin is 50 years old or 5, but a publication with a date, is not.

Since I have my grandfather's college yearbook (Williams College, class of 06... that's 1906), I guess I can understand the desire to own historical documents more than an old badge.

Wine&SilverBlue 08-26-2004 03:00 PM

tyoregon is a collector

piphimaggie 08-26-2004 09:09 PM

Thanks, Jennie.....you confirmed my suspicions. I think I saw in some previous postings that this Tyoregon is a collector. However, it seemed like he had only been going after the pins, not publications prior to now.
*sigh*
I dont understand someone's obsession with the pins if they have no idea as to the inner significance of it all.

I can't help but wonder WHO would buy that . . . they just stuck a car decal on an organizer . . .

Wow.

carnation 09-03-2004 03:43 PM

Tyoregon once emailed me and said that his wife and daughter are Pi Phis and that they've willed the collection to Nationals. I have no clue if it's true.

arrowgirl 09-04-2004 01:39 PM

But doesn't he buy lots of other group's badges too?

wrigley 09-13-2004 02:10 AM

angelove 09-24-2004 05:12 PM

angelove 09-28-2004 10:49 AM

Love the sapphire tip. The guard is also intruiguing - is it possible that the real owner was a province president?

angelic1 09-28-2004 04:50 PM

i am vt5angel.. but alas i have no been outbid, but there are five days still.. so i am going to keep tracking. I cant afford a super high price, but i have been interested in an emerald/diamond pin bc my birthstone is emerald.

After bidding I thought about the name on the pin and the date. I looked into it and Isaw she was listed on the members only section. I guess it was sold in an estate sale or something.

That is the province president guard... the title was changed from PP to CPP in the mid 80s so the original owner would have to have been a province president prior to then. That IS a gorgeous pin... any Maine Alphas out there?

Speechpath 09-29-2004 08:23 PM

boababe, aren't you a Maine Alpha? that is a beautiful pin!

Pi Phi Ebay Item

Hey ladies....I was surfing on ebay and came across a Pi Phi item that you guys might want to check out/rescue....it's a silver Pi Phi chalice and the auction number is 3938478085 (sorry, no clue how to put a link to it here!).....Don't know if it's ritual equipment or a similar "secret" item but I thought I'd let you guys know!

Greekgrrl 11-03-2004 02:47 PM

I believe that's actually 3938478058

link

wrigley 11-07-2004 08:13 PM

There's a badge up on ebay. Item number 3940003401. I'm having problems trying to link to it. Sorry.

angelove 11-11-2004 04:25 PM

AAAARGH!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...940520995&rd=1

Not just  because it's a badge for sale - extremely    because of the first line of the description

dakareng 11-11-2004 06:34 PM

Pretty sad when someone is selling their own badge on EBay. If circumstances forced her to do so, she'd probably get higher bids with an explanation... but I'm afraid that like many of us who pledged in the 70s, she does not have the same feelings toward Pi Phi as people on this board. GL at the time was a lot different and few of my pledge sisters are involved with Pi Phi.

Speechpath 02-02-2005 10:49 PM

3 badges up for sale right now, two with pearls and one with opals (which is very pretty)

suzipiphi 02-17-2005 04:35 PM

pin

I have a quick question. I was looking on ebay and I saw this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...957821322&rd=1

and I have never seen anything like it. Maybe one of you know. Is this like an old pledge pin or old mothers pin??

I was really confused!

Another Badge

I know I'm not a Pi Phi, but I just wanted to let everyone know. I don't know why she would sell her own though. :(

ZetaPhi708 02-22-2005 04:59 AM

I won that badge

and I will be giving it to a Pi Phi that I am good friends with ( she is the one mentioned in my post "Dear Ladies of Pi Phi). She lost her first badge several years ago and I am gonna surprise her with it.

erniegurl00 02-22-2005 10:55 AM

How sweet of you! I'm glad to hear that one of our badges will be returned to a Pi Phi.

angelove 02-22-2005 01:25 PM

I think we should make ZetaPhi708 the GC-Pi Phi forum sweetheart.

ZetaPhi708 02-23-2005 02:30 AM

oh great now I am blushing....

I would be honored to the the GC-Pi Phi forum's sweetheart....until another gentleman comes along to earn the title.....

Just doing what is good and right......

Take care Ladies of Pi Phi...Good Night.....

Zeta Phi 708

P.S. I also found out tonight that my assistant manager at the movie theater where I am a projectionist at, his mother is a Pi Phi from the Tennesssee Alpha ( inactive ) chapter ( now defunct ).

"it's a small world after all"

:D

ZetaPhi708 03-02-2005 03:00 AM

Good Evening Ladies of Pi Phi,

This afternoon I took the badge that I won off of Ebay by the bookstore where my Pi Phi friend works; I had her close her eyes and I placed it above her heart. It was an honor to get her a new badge after she had lost hers.

She told me that it was prophetic that she stated she was just thinking about her iniaition the other day. Since Pi Phi has chapters at Vandy ( I think ) and UT-Knoxville, I am going to encourage her to go.

Take care and God Bless.

Zeta Phi 708

texas*princess 03-02-2005 10:43 PM

* ZetaPhi -- that is soooo sweet of you!!!!!

* I found another Pi Phi pin on ebay. It's not listed as a Pi Phi pin, so maybe that will keep the price down. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

carnation 03-02-2005 11:35 PM

Ooo, thank you texasprincess, I believe I'd like to bid on that!
