OHMIGOSH I could not agree with you more!! this man is FIIIIIIIIIIINE!!! I am Not into interracial dating - but this dude - whooo ((fainting)):p

Munchkin03 04-13-2006 01:48 PM

Even if you don't date interracially in real life, does the fact that a white male TV/movie star is known to date interracially (Chris Noth, Robert Deniro, etc.) make him more desirable?

Maybe it's a silly question...?

Not for me. I would have to say their acting ability plays more into it.

There are various reasons as to why I choose not to date outside my race.I'll just keep it short and say that I have no desire to date outside my race, I love Black men too much for all that.:D

And I personally don't see a shortage of God fearing, fine as hell, and educationally and professionally accomplished black men who respect and treat women well. :D

Conskeeted7 02-27-2007 02:11 AM

Believe it or not, there's a lot of employed, educated, fine, God fearing Black men in Detroit. They are not afraid to treat a woman like a lady either. If I was still on the market, that's where I'd go to find one. ;)

In Detroit??? Oh Lord.

nonchalant 03-03-2007 11:53 AM

I know that I couldn't date a white man. I am not sexually attracted to them. As they say, don't knock it until you try it. Well, this white dude was fine, so I tried it(damn Auburn University). The sex was great, but I felt nasty the whole time. It felt too different. The hair texture was all wrong. His lingo and motions were all wrong. He smelled different. That was my first and last white man.

I have dated mixed guys from black/latino to black/white(if they look more black) to puerto rican/black. I suppose you just have to have some black in you.

_Opi_ 03-03-2007 06:15 PM

Sometimes you can't help who you are attracted to. I personally cannot say, I am exclusively attracted to men of the _____ race, because that would be a damn lie.

Race aint nothing but a...

As an aside: I used to find John Mayer sexy, but that all changed when I heard he got with whats her face Jennifer Hewitt.

delph998 03-03-2007 06:44 PM

That's what's up Nonchalant. I'm with you, although I've never dated outside my race. I'm attracted to men of other ethnicities and races; but to me, their looks will never compare to a brotha's. I am loyal to African American men--all heights, weights, complexions, socioeconomic statuses, etc. I love my brothas. Nuff said. ;)

Singing Angie Stone's Black Brotha.

"You got your blue collar brotha, light-skinned (dang is that right?) brotha, down for whatever, chillin' on the corner brotha, talented brotha, and to everyone y'all behind bars, you know that Del loves ya!" :D

cheerfulgreek 03-04-2007 03:16 AM

Race isn't that important to me. As long as he's a nice guy and I'm physically attracted to him. I've never slept with a black guy before though. I'm not saying I wouldn't, it's just that I've only had white boyfriends.

Where I go to school, interacial dating is very high in this city.

BellaSF 03-04-2007 10:52 AM

Black Brotha

This post actually made me think about the men I've dated. They all were of African (black) descent except one that was half puerto rican. I was acttracted to one Caucasion man my senior year of high school...but he was built like a Greek God and had a really good tan from playing soccer every day. However, I didn't date him. I'm attracted to all types of men from Phillipino to...um...whatever, but my preference has been and always will be black men. They're sexy as heck. I love brown skin! And dark skin on a tall chiseled man is HELLA SEXY!!! Tall, dark and handsome is how I like 'em! Oh, I only date men with Carribbean descent. They're different from regular black americans (no disrespect).

I can really cosign on the Carribbean man aspect, but if you only date black men with that type of heritage . . do you ever feel pigeon-holed (sp) . . I mean tall, dark, black, carribbean, chiseled are really specific qualifications. Do you ever have a hard time finding what you like? If not, can you teach a young girl (meaning me) ur secret ?? :D

Interracial dating is not my personal cup of tea. I believe in Black families, plain and simple. I honestly can't see myself dating and/or marrying anyone else. As much as I don't want to sit around "waiting to exhale" for a decent Black man to come in my life, I'm not going to give up hope that easy, either. And, I, too, don't like it when other people exclusively date outside their race based on stereotypical reasons. When I see a brutha with "someone else" (esp. White), paranoia kicks in and I usually automatically think the worse (esp. if he has status). With that said, though, love is love and that can't really be helped. We're all individuals; you can't live your life to accomodate other people's opinions. It's just that the feelings, reasons, etc., for interracial dating/marriages should be genuine and not based on stereotypes, a one-time bad experience, etc.

Since I am supposed to be doing my homework this about summarizes ho I feel about dating outside of my race. I do not mind if someone else does it, but I like Soror Obsession8, don't really see myself dating anyone else. One of my good friends dated a white guy and he wanted to ste me up with one of his friends, but I had to pass. As long as my friend was happy I was too! I am not saying that I would never date outside of my race, but I have not given up hope.

1908Revelations 03-05-2007 04:21 PM

I second that emotion!

Not at all. :o I wuv u. :D

DSTCHAOS 03-05-2007 04:36 PM

There is historical and social significance for why many people are "loyal" to a particular race in dating and marriage. And of course there are just aesthetic reasons for a preference.

I think that it's fine to exclusively date a particular race. But don't defend this decision by speaking negatively of another race of men. Nonchalant's post was honest, but it frames her love for men of direct African ancestry around her (negative) experience with ONE white man.

I haven't read this thread b/c this topic just isn't that interesting to me. But if someone came in here saying they don't date black men or women because (insert an HONEST opinion or experience that can be interpreted negatively and lead to "racism" claims, etc.), some people would be up in arms. Maybe that's already happened in this thread--it could've been what the OP typed and it has since been diffused. :)

Black_Princess, they're everywhere. Its just finding the ones with good character. Because these men know they're a good catch, a good amount of them are dogs. Just go where carribbean men hang out. Carribbean resturant, party, concert, etc. Plus I'm of carribbean descent so I'm surrounded by them all the time.
