Almost everyone I from my highschool went to a community college or an anti-greek school or really strict Christian schools that have "social clubs" with Greek letters which are a whole lot different from standard Greek life (NPC/IFC). I hate going to homecoming and trying to explain to old classmates that my sorority is nothing like their social clubs! I went ZTA and a girl a grade below me went ZTA too, and a guy 2 years above me went LXA. I'm pretty sure those are all the Greeks from my high school from when I was there.

DSTRen13 10-12-2008 07:33 AM

Hm. That I know of off the top of my head ... other than myself and my husband (Delta Sigma Theta & Phi Kappa Sigma), there are:

1 AOPi
1 ADPi
2 KDs
1 Phi Mu
1 DZ
1 Theta Chi
1 SigEp
1 Phi Kappa Tau
1 KKPsi
1 AKPsi

Scandia 10-12-2008 07:53 AM

From my graduating class, I only know of one who joined a sorority. She joined a local at her school.

From the class after mine, the valedictorian is an Alpha Phi Omega brother as well.

ree-Xi 10-12-2008 12:53 PM

Only one of my group of eight girls went Greek, my best friend is a Pi Phi.

sopranology 10-12-2008 02:18 PM

None of the girls I hung out with went greek, but two girls that went to my high school became Alpha Xi Deltas like me! Who would've thought that I'm now sisters with girls I never talked to three years ago?!

ThetaPrincess24 10-12-2008 02:54 PM

A lot did. In my class, before, and after me, but I'll stick to my class:

3 other girls went Theta like me (all of us to the same chapter).
1 went chi omega
2 went kappa kappa gamma (to the same chapter)
1 went delta zeta
2 went sigma kappa (to the same chapter)
2 went delta gamma

1 guy went kappa sigma
2 guys went pi kappa alpha
1 guy went somewhere but i forget where

Oh geez, being from the south..a TON of my graduating class went greek. Out of my close knit group of friends, I think all but one or two went greek.

just some I can remember off of the top of my head:

1 AOII! Me! (OSU)
2 Gamma Phi's (Auburn and FSU)
12 KD's (scattered between FSU, LSU, Auburn, etc)
7 DG's (Ole Miss, Auburn, UF, etc)
1 Theta (LSU)
1 Kappa (UF)
3 Pi Phi's (Auburn, Southern Miss,
3 AGD's (UWF, Alabama)
4 AXO (UWF, FSU)
11 ADPi (UF, FSU, UWF)
1 Phi Sigma Sigma (UWF)
2 DDD (UF, OSU)
1 Phi Mu (Southern Alabama)
1 ZTA (FGCU)

..I could keep going. Its ridiculous!!

Guys:

1 Kappa Sig (OSU
SEVERAL Sigma Chi. A group from my high school founded the UWF Chapter. There are others at Auburn
1 TKE (UF)
4 Sig Ep's (Auburn)
3 Pike (Southern Miss, FSU)

I don't know the rest..I know the girls better than the boys.

gphi426 10-12-2008 04:08 PM

1 Sigma Alpha Mu
1 Delta Chi
1 Pi Kapp

that's all i know off the top of my head... i know theres more

Scully 10-13-2008 04:25 PM

Not a lot of my HS friends (that I knew of) went Greek. My best guy friend went TKE. Two of my girlfriends went AXiD (at two different schools).

piphiangel314 10-13-2008 11:48 PM

In my class:

1 Pi Phi (me)
1 DG at U of Illinois
1 AST at SIUE

That's it.

BabyPiNK_FL 10-13-2008 11:53 PM

3 TKEs (FIU)
At least 2 TKEs (UF)
1 Phi Sigma Sigma (did not go to my HS, but knew her from MS, she went to other local HS)
1 Phi Mu (me)
1 ZTA (UF)

TotallyWicked 10-14-2008 01:35 AM

anyone from my HS that went to University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign or Northern Illinois went Greek....

the folks that attended other schools..not so much.

tangelo212 10-14-2008 05:59 AM

2 ironic things here:
#1 I know SO MANY PEOPLE who went/go to UF... but only like 2 ended up rushing/joining. Crazy. For a huge, strong Greek system, that is so surprising to me.
#2 None of my closest closest friends from HS/home (not my high school--I went to a pretty small school) ended up joining houses. They didn't rush as freshmen, and then i think they either just forgot about it and got involved with other things, or had a hard time as sophomores. This list is really only people from my high school. If I listed anyone I knew in GLOs (discounting my alma mater) the list would be WAYYYYY longer!

1 SDT
2 DG
1 Theta
4 Kappa (2 sets of sisters)
1 Tridelt
1 AOII (actually a friend's sister)
2 KD
1 Pi Phi
1 Gamma Phi
1 AXiD
1 Farmhouse
1 SAE
1 Phi Delt
2 Sigma Chi
1 Phi Gam

magichat 10-14-2008 11:23 AM

I graduated with a ton of kids, and alot of them went greek. From my friends:
5 Pikes(3 at my chapter, one at Villanova, one at NYU)
1 SAE (Syracuse)
1 DSP (Hofstra)
2 Tri delt (One at Emory, one at BC)

I am drawing a blank on the rest of them

AlwaysSAI 10-14-2008 03:26 PM

Delta Sigma Phi
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Omega
Sigma Gamma Rho
Phi Sigma Pi (5-two to my chapter-3 to the ECU chapter)
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Gamma Delta (2-including my sister to the same chapter)
Alpha Kappa Alpha
Delta Sigma Theta
Alpha Psi Omega
Pi Lambda Upsilon (local at UNC-P)
Sigma Alpha Iota (2 that I know of, including me)
Phi Delta Chi
Alpha Xi Delta
Sigma Alpha

There are a lot of people that I expected to go greek that didn't. And, lots of people I thought never would that did.

unarose 10-16-2008 03:08 AM

Well, from my graduating class of 2006...we have the following

Females:
5 ZTAs (all here at UNA, too!)
1 Gamma Phi Beta (Alabama)
1 Phi Mu (here at UNA)

Males:
1 Sigma Chi (Rushed/Pledged at South Alabama, transferred to Alabama in Fall '07)
1 Pi Kappa Alpha (Transfer, Fall 08 class)

And for the past two years...
Class of 2007:
1 Alpha Delta Pi (Troy)
1 Phi Mu (UNA)

Class of 2008:
1 Alpha Gamma Delta (UNA)
1 Pi Kappa Alpha (UNA)
1 FIJI (UNA)

Mind, these are only what I am aware of. I'm pretty sure I would have heard already if there were more sorority girls, but the guys I'm not so sure of. Up until this year, I was of the mindset that most girls who graduated from my high school who came to UNA went either Zeta or Phi Mu (also having Alpha Gam and ADPi), because so many of the alums of my high school here were either one or the other. The guys, however...alums of my high school here at UNA have gone Alpha Tau Omega, Sigma Chi, FIJI, and Pi Kappa Alpha, and we also have Delta Chi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Kappa Sigma to pick from.

Nobody in high school can believe that I went Greek - and that I got my first choice! I was extremely shy in high school, which was odd considering it was a REALLY tiny school, and I had known everyone since, like, 5th grade. (By small, I mean my graduating class was 20.) So when I told everyone this spring that I was planning on rushing, they couldn't believe it. Actually, according to a friend of mine who hasn't graduated yet, they still can't. xD

I only had one other friend who went Greek, and he went Sigma Chi at UTA if I'm not mistaken.
