AZpinkkittie 08-19-2003 10:18 AM

Follow your heart Crystal, you'll never go wrong. Good luck and i can't wait to hear where your new home is!!

MTSUGURL 08-19-2003 12:54 PM

Well, ya'll have been awesome, and I love the girls I met this week to death, which makes this even worse to tell you. I wasn't invited back anywhere tonight, and I was told, "They love you, but you're a junior, so you got less points than the freshmen and sophomores."

Big surprise, but I'm still more disappointed than I thought I would be. So, guess who's still homeless.

breathesgelatin 08-19-2003 12:56 PM

Crystal, that really hurts.

I'm sorry. If there is anything we can do, let us know.

houstonchica 08-19-2003 12:56 PM

We're sad for you

I'm soooo sorry to hear this. Are you okay? Any chance you might be able to COB this year?

mmcat 08-19-2003 12:57 PM

aaaaw....sweetie. things are just not fair sometimes. keep posting, you have a terrific heart.

Buttonz 08-19-2003 12:57 PM

Awww...I'm sorry!! It suxs that is the reaons!! Please let us know if there is anything we can do...and stay around on GC!

xo_kathy 08-19-2003 01:02 PM

Definitely look out for COB. And keep us posted if anything else happens. And stay involved here cuz you're a great contributor!!!

honeychile 08-19-2003 01:04 PM

Crystal, I could cry for you.

I do want to echo something that ucfadpi said on another thread, though. You don't know what's going to happen yet. There may be someone who wasn't happy to get a bid from France, and they may come back with a snap bid or COB! Especially if they told you that it was because you're a junior - I would look at that as a very good indication that you could be snap bid (if possible).

Please don't despair!

adpiucf 08-19-2003 01:12 PM

Ditto on what honey said! Crystal, we're all here for you!

True, I am not a student at MTSU, but having had experience with the rushes and ups and downs and several other universities around the country, I do want to assure you there are other ways to become involved in Greek Life outside of Formal Recruitment, and I hope you will keep an open mind and explore these options. Don't ever let any of your opponents say, "I told you so!" If you want something, you make it happen, lady!

Pi Love and Mine,
ADPiUCF

MTSUGURL 08-19-2003 01:14 PM

Can they still snap bid me even if I don't go to Pref? I'd think about COB, but it's unlikely (or so I was told) that groups will be.

smiley21 08-19-2003 01:15 PM

oh crystal, i wanted this so bad for you!! we all love you!!

Honestly, right now I'm in tears, but I'll be fine.

Yes, you can still be snap bid, even if you haven't attended prefs. One of my best friends got her LilSis that way. Her Lil Sist pref'd "Scotland" and "Russia," but didn't get a bid from either. On Bid Day morning, "Brazil" AND "Argentina" called with offers! She's a very happy Brazilian these days :) Another girl in my PX group dropped out after day before prefs, and "Argentina" called her, too.

Never discount COB. It might happen, it might not. You never know how rush will turn out.

Good luck!

I think you can be snapped as long as you attended "the maximum amount of parties possible." Even though you didn't go to Pref, you went to all the parties that you were invited to, so you'd still be eligible for a snap bid.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

Anyway, I'm sorry things didn't work out, Crystal. I know that people are going to tell you stuff like, "Everything's okay in the end -- if it's not okay, it's not the end," and as much as you don't want to hear it, it IS true and you will find a home somewhere or another. It may not be this year, it may not be in college, it may not even be in a sorority -- but it will happen.

Don't count out COB yet either!

DZHBrown 08-19-2003 01:48 PM

Sweetie, I'm sorry! But yes, you can be a snap bid anywhere. And if there are groups COBing, then that would be an option too!

sweetchicky 08-19-2003 02:14 PM

awwww

Girl, I am so sorry things did not exactly work out the way you wanted them to. I feel that everything happens for a reason so there may have ben a reason for this. I know one girlin my rho chi group got cut from so many sororities it was so harsh and when they went back and looked, it was a mistake, maybe there is a mistake?
I don't know but I do know that COR can be a great thing (from what I have heard) a lot of sororities start immediately with open bidding parties!!!
Good luck doll!!!!
love always
sweetchicky

SparkliiQTMTSU 08-19-2003 02:58 PM

AWWW sweetie I am so sorry for you. I totally feel your pain on this one. I am really hoping that for you someone will decided not to continue on their own decision and you may get a snap bid! Im wishing you the best of luck!

Nichole

MTSUGURL 08-19-2003 03:50 PM

Thanks for the support ya'll. I appreciate the good wishes. As much as I would love to believe that I would get a snap bid, realistically, it probably won't happen, so I'm trying to not get my hopes up. I'll look for COB opportunities, but I know they won't come from France and I don't want to settle for any group just so I can be Greek. Granted there are 3 groups (maybe 4) that I would be very happy in, but I know only one has COB'd since I've been here, and I was cut after the first night.

PixieChickMTSU 08-19-2003 04:00 PM

awwww :( Crystal I am so sorry....:( Keep your smiling face though! and just remember...sororities are about sisterhood, community service, social and scholarship.....you have excelled at all of those things and can continue to do that without a GLO....keep in touch girl!

devoted04 08-19-2003 04:14 PM

***HUG***

Hey girl!

I am so sorry!!!! You are a great girl so always remember that it was their loss as well! I really hope you go through with COB and I hope some snap bids come your way. My heart goes out to you.

Love, V

TriDeltaGal 08-19-2003 05:18 PM

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with you rush experience...I really hope that you will be able to get a snap bid or COB. I would recommend trying to go to COB events even to groups that you didn' t think you would fit in well during rush. COB is a much more relaxed experience and you might get a whole different feel of the house. Either way, I wish you the best of luck no matter what!

rosejoy 08-19-2003 05:38 PM

Crystal,

I am sorry to hear that. I went through ECU rush as a junior, and i know how it is to be heavily cut. I was just lucky that our rush is not as competitive here. Do not dismay. We got some great girls who we got through COB. I just know you are awesome!!! All is not lost.

Hugs!
Joy

astroAPhi 08-19-2003 05:52 PM

Crystal, that makes me so sad to hear. I know that you wanted to join for the right reasons.

If you receive a snap bid from somewhere that you will be happy, accept it with pride! And if you are just not in the mood, always keep in mind alumnae initiation. I'm sure you could find a recommendation from every NPC sorority alone in just this forum! We are all behind you, and we want you to be happy. Good luck with what may come.

OUlioness01 08-19-2003 06:04 PM

oh crystal, i'm sor sorry things haven't worked out for you. and i hoep that there will be moreopporutnites in you future do be part of greek life.

aephi alum 08-19-2003 07:10 PM

I'm so sorry. :(

AXO_MOM_3 08-19-2003 07:46 PM

I'm so sad too. :( Please keep us posted on the snap bidding and COB if you decide to pursue it. Bear hugs to you.

pinkyphimu 08-19-2003 08:35 PM

crystal,
i am soooo bummed! i can't even imagine how you feel right now, but keep your chin up!! we certainly wish you the best!!

erica812 08-19-2003 09:38 PM

I CAN imagine how you feel since I've been there! Keep things in perspective. You know that this is just one bump in the road. Many opportunites are sure to come your way.

Love, Erica

Good words to remember, Crystal!! It's just a darn shame that MTSU doesn't have "free" juniors... :(

GPhiBLtColonel 08-20-2003 01:21 AM

Dear Crystal, I will be direct -- Life just sucks sometimes. And this is one of those times. I am so sorry about what happened. You know I wish I had a magic wand I could wave and make everything better for you....I am alternating between anger and sadness right now, so I can't offer really good advice....everyone else here on GC has given you some good advice though so I will just ditto what they have said -- keep your head held high!

:(

Big hugssss

MTSUGURL 08-20-2003 01:27 AM

I've been reading yall's posts throughout the day, and I appreciate all the encouragement and kind words. I'm much better now - I went to an activity sponsored by the campus ministry that I'm involved in and got to meet a lot of new freshmen and transfer students, and will be helping out with the freshmen activities there. I would love it if a snap bid were to come my way, and I'm crossing my fingers for the next 48 hours just in case, and I'll COB if the opportunity arises (I can't see not being in the mood after I've enjoyed this week so much). Yall's posts have really been touching, and have lifted my spirits considerably!
