One of these 15 minute celebrities

RIALTO, Calif. - Rodney King, whose videotaped beating led to the deadly 1992 riots in Los Angeles, was hospitalized with a broken pelvis after he lost control of his SUV while weaving through traffic at 100 mph and crashed into a house, police said.

King, 39, was spotted Sunday by a police officer who said King was speeding and weaving through traffic in his 2003 Ford Expedition :eek: when he slammed into a utility pole, a chain-link fence and then the home, police said. No one in the home was injured.

King was in fair condition Monday afternoon, hospital spokesman Jorge Valencia said. His condition was not available Tuesday as hospital officials did not answer phone calls.

Police said they suspect that King was intoxicated, and a blood sample was drawn to determine his blood-alcohol level. Test results have not yet been released.

King was not arrested, but a report detailing the crash circumstances will be submitted to prosecutors, police Lt. Kathy Thompson said.

King, who is black, was chased by police through the San Fernando Valley in 1991 and was captured on videotape being beaten by four white officers.

After their acquittal, riots broke out and lasted for four days, leaving 55 dead and more than 2,000 injured. The mayhem caused $1 billion in property damage.

King later received a $3.8 million settlement from the city of Los Angeles in 1994.

He was convicted of spouse abuse in 1999 in San Bernardino County and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and four years probation.

King pleaded no contest to three counts of being under the influence of PCP and a count of indecent exposure in October 2001. A judge gave King a year in a drug treatment center even though a prosecutor argued King should spend a year in county jail.

Rialto, where King lives, is 53 miles east of Los Angeles.

Poet/Author Dr. Maya Angelou recently celebrated her 75th birthday at her North Carolina Home. Oprah Winfrey spared no expense with the Million Dollar party she threw for Dr. Angelou. Some of the costs included 40 thousand dollars for security, 90 thousand for guests and transportation, 100 thousand dollars for flowers and landscaping, 120 thousand for food and liquor, and 75 thousand dollars for a dance floor and sound system. Some of the guests included Bill Cosby, Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick and Natalie Cole.

Oscar Winner Halle Berry is going to go nude again. :rolleyes: After winning her Academy Award Halle said she was through with nude roles. Halle posed topless in the movie ‘Swordfish’ and she was nude in ‘Monsters Ball’. In the movie ‘Gothika’ Halle will play a Psychiatrist charged with a murder she didn’t commit. Halle said she didn’t want to use a body double for a scene that involved her in a prison shower scene. A fight breaks out in the shower and all the women are naked and fighting. (Doesn’t this sound like a male fantasy, Why not fight in the cafeteria?) :rolleyes:

Tisha Martin-Campbell who stars on the ABC show ‘My wife and Kids’ opens up in the new issue of US Magazine. Tisha talks about her recent weight loss. Tisha gained 80 pounds during her pregnancy she went from a size 4 to a size 20. Tisha says she had a difficult pregnancy and after she had her son she suffered from depression. Puff Daddy, P. Diddy is returning to the movies. Puff was last scene in the movie Monsters Ball with Halle Berry and now he is going to star in the HBO Movie ‘Love in Vain’. Puff is going to play Musician Robert Johnson who was the King of the Delta Blues. Johnson was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He died at the age of 27.

Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore are the proud parents of a baby boy. Kenny Lattimore Jr. was born on his dad’s birthday and he weighed 9 pounds.

Olympic Star Marion Jones is going to be a mommy. Marion has been dating her training partner Tim Montgomery and the baby is due is July. Marion says she is excited about being a mommy and she looks forward to competing in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Now speaking of Olympics. Congrats to Allen Iverson who is going to be named to the Olympic team. Larry Brown headcoach of the Sixers will be coaching the team.

Michael Jackson is doing a new special for the Fox Network. On April 24th The Fox Network will air ‘Michael Jacksons Private Home Movies’ a 2 hour special built around his family movies. Michael is also doing a new interview. I wonder will he respond to the allegations made by his ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa says Michael used her to improve his public image. Michael is also house hunting in Florida. He is trying to sell his Neverland home for 20 million dollars but no one is trying to buy it. Michael is also starting to loosen up. He has been hanging around Tennis Sensation Serena Williams and Comedian Chris Tucker :confused: and I hear his kids are walking around without their veils.

Prince is moving to Canada. Prince is moving to Toronto with his pregnant wife.

Bobby Brown makes a cameo in his wife’s new video. In the Video for the song ‘Try it on my own’ Whitney pokes fun at getting fired from the Academy Awards which is what happened to her three years ago. Whitney showed up disoriented and the shows Musical Director Burt Bachrach fired her.

Isn't this the blues man that "supposedly" sold his soul to the devil in return for being a talented bluesman? :confused:

Is this the same "big dude" that she has been dating for a while or is this someone new?

Funny how they used a nice word like "disoriented" instead of saying what really happened...SHE WAS F$%^&ED UP!

And then to be fired by Burt Bachrach? *lol*

No. She divorced him a few years ago. If this is the same "big dude" you are referring to. The "big dude" I'm talking about tested positive for performance enhanced drugs or something during the Olympics. Which Olympics? I can't remember.

The big dude is CJ Hunter, and I think the Olympics was the most recent one (2000 or so).

Yep, that's him! I didn't know they were divorced.

Yep....

They separated not too long after that "scandal". Then, I think they ultimately divorced. I remember seeing her on a sports show where she was building this HUGE home. :o That was at least 2 years ago.

Angie Harmon and pretty boy Jason Sehorn

Jason Sehorn was referenced in the "Black men are the best thread, but..." on DST Blvd. ;)

From NY Daily News:

A pregnant pause...

It's nice to see that some of our items bear fruit. Having first linked then-"Law & Order" actress Angie Harmon and then-New York Giant Jason Sehorn in October 1999, it's a pleasure to report that they're expecting their first child at the end of October.

"They wanted to wait until the second trimester to announce it," says their spokesman.

You'll recall that Sehorn proposed to Harmon on "The "Tonight Show" in March 2000 and the couple got married in June 2001. They've been dividing their time between New York and Angie's hometown of Dallas, as Sehorn entertains offers from other teams.

The Sharon Smackdown

Sharon Osbourne got into a nasty altercation with Hollywood power agent Renee Tab at the Japanese restaurant Koi in Los Angeles. What really happened during the fight? Did Sharon and Tab exchange blows? Steven Cojocaru talked, as only he knows how, to Sharon's daughter Kelly about the 'Sharon Smackdown'.

"I wasn't there. I don't really know what happened. All I know is that this girl did punch my mom and my mom does have a huge black face," Kelly told Cojo at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

So who attacked whom inside this Hollywood restaurant? The two combatants have a history which prompted the "dispute." Back on New Year's Eve, Tab won a $15,000 necklace raffled off as Ozzy and Sharon renewed their wedding vows. The Osbournes insisted the raffle was for invited guests only, and claimed Tab was not one of them. The Osbournes filed a theft report, and though police have dropped their probe, both parties' lawyers continue to haggle over a resolution.

Kelly was less than thrilled that her 50-year-old mom, still bouncing back from chemotherapy, must now deal with this new trauma.

When asked how Sharon's doing since the fight, Kelly said: "She's a little knocked up. I think it's just disgusting. I don't think that women should ever hit each other. You know, it's one thing if you slap and pull, but to actually punch another woman in the face -- it's disgusting."

Tab claims Osbourne spit on her, while Sharon claims Renee "viciously assaulted" her, causing Sharon to seek treatment at a hospital. Police questioned both, and so far neither has been arrested or charged. If investigators determine a misdemeanor assault occurred then prosecution is a possibility.

Aretha is calling it Quits!!

Touring that is...

Aretha takes a long look back with final tour
By Edna Gundersen, USA TODAY
April 14, 2003

Aretha Franklin may reign indefinitely as the Queen of Soul, but as a
touring entity, she's the queen of "so long."

Aretha Franklin says her current tour will be her last.

The R&B icon says her current outing, which started Friday and
stretches into fall, will be her last. She's not abdicating a throne
she has occupied for more than three decades. Franklin, 61, has two
albums in the works and intends to perform occasionally at special
events, private parties and in commercials.

"I'll never quit," she vows. "I'll always be singing. I just won't do
as much as I have been. I'm scaling it down."

Her final road show, which she has tentatively dubbed "Aretha Sings
Her Musical History," plucks selections from 1962 to 2003. Backed by
a 22-piece band that includes strings, brass and four singers,
Franklin plans to dip into her early years and draw from Broadway's
songbooks for material she has never performed live. She also has
honed new versions of favorites such as Ain't No Way and Freeway of
Love. Expect a nostalgic ride.

"I was listening to things from the '60s like Try a Little
Tenderness, Won't Be Long and If Ever I Should Leave You, and I got a
little teary," she says from her custom bus en route to a concert in
Albany, N.Y.

Later shows will be augmented by dancers Franklin will handpick from
open auditions at a Southfield, Mich., hotel in May. Franklin hits
Washington, Boston and Atlanta in June, then the Midwest in July and
New England in August.

Known to don extravagant gowns, Franklin is sating her fashion
passion with stage garb designed by Valentino, Donna Karan, Halston,
Bill Blass and Luther Vandross.

Yes, that Luther. To celebrate their friendship, the R&B crooner "has
designed two of the most fabulous gowns I've ever seen," says
Franklin, who first spotted Vandross' handiwork on his backup singers
at a Detroit concert. "He might have missed his calling. He's every
bit as fabulous designing as he is singing."

The last leg of the tour will coincide with a new album, due Sept. 9,
that Franklin says is her best since 1982's Jump to It.

"It's absolutely smashing," she says. "And it's fun. You don't want
to be too serious."

Troy Taylor produced and co-wrote Franklin's two duets with Mary J.
Blige, and Burt Bacharach submitted a midtempo tune. Franklin wrote
the euphoric So Damned Happy, which she pronounces "a No. 1 hit."

Next up is a collection of arias, due in late 2003, that includes O
Mio Bambino Caro, Song to the Moon and Nessun Dorma, which floored
viewers at the 1998 Grammys.

After she pulls off the road, Franklin plans to devote time helping
her sons pursue record deals in hip-hop.

Her advice to aspiring singers has nothing to do with voice lessons
or piano practice.

"Get that diploma," she commands. "The music industry is extremely
competitive. Get that piece of paper so you have something to fall
back on. "

IN ADDITION!!

Another bit of news for those who haven't already heard. Patti LaBelle is no longer with MCA Records. Seems she has followed Mariah to Def Jam Records and is in the process of recording a new CD. The bad news is, it will include a collaboration with none other than rapper 50 Cents.

LAKER REPORT
Birth Could Cause Shaq to Miss Game

By Tim Brown
Times Staff Writer

April 17, 2003

OAKLAND -- Shaunie O'Neal, Shaquille's pregnant wife, is not due with the couple's son until the end of April, but O'Neal on Wednesday said he could not rule out missing a playoff game to witness the event.

"I'm not thinking about it until it happens," he said after the Lakers ended their regular season with a win against the Golden State Warriors. "But, I will be there for the birth of my son. I gotta be the first black man he sees."

O'Neal had speculated in recent weeks that doctors would induce Shaunie's labor on a date convenient for both, in part to free him up for playoff games. He said Wednesday, however, that Shaunie was not ready for the procedure.

"I'm going to let it play out," he said. "She's not ready and I'm not going to force it. When the baby comes, I'm going to be there."

The Lakers play at Minnesota on Sunday and Tuesday, then return to Los Angeles for games next Thursday and Sunday. Shaunie's due date is April 27, the same day as Game 4 at Staples Center.

Toni and Bernie updates.....

Braxton to Join Cast of 'Aida'
Apr 17, 5:57 AM EST

Toni Braxton is graduating from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" to "Aida."

The sultry-voiced singer will join the cast of "Aida," the long-running, Disney-produced Broadway musical June 30 for a limited four-month engagement. Braxton, whose hits include "Breathe Again," "Un-Break My Heart" and "He Wasn't Man Enough," previously starred as Belle in the Broadway edition of "Beauty and the Beast" in 1998.

"Aida," which has a score by Elton John and Tim Rice, opened at Broadway's Palace Theatre in March 2000. Set in ancient Egypt, it tells the love story of the Nubian princess Aida, sold into slavery, and her love for a handsome soldier, Radames.

Bernie Mac to Play Milwaukee Brewer
Apr 17, 11:02 AM EST

The Brewers will have a new addition to their lineup in July — Bernie Mac.

The comedian and TV star will be donning Brewers blue for the feature film "Mr. 3,000," which starts filming at Miller Park and other Milwaukee locations in July, the Greater Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau said Thursday.

Mac will play a fictitious Milwaukee Brewer who retires with 3,000 career hits, only to come back to baseball a few years later when a statistical error reveals he is three hits short of the milestone.

The film's production crew has told team officials it hopes to film live baseball and crowd scenes on July 23 and 24, when the real Brewers play the Houston Astros.

The film will be directed by Charles Stone III. Stone is best known for directing "Drumline," a film released last year about a showboating Harlem drummer and Budweiser's "Whaaas-Up?" beer commercials.

The film will be produced by Disney's Touchstone Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment.

People from the community will be used as extras, as was the case with the 1989 baseball movie "Major League," which starred Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker, Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen and Wesley Snipes.

That movie was filmed in County Stadium but was about a team in Cleveland.

Milwaukee has been the home of several independent films, including "American Movie," "Chump Change," "The Last Great Ride," "Britney Baby: One More Time," "Lady in the Box," "Red Betsy" and "Milwaukee Minnesota."

A number of movies have been filmed elsewhere in Wisconsin, including "Chain Reaction," "The Deep End of the Ocean," "Dexter Dickie," "Reeseville" and "Normal."

Luther has Stroke

Luther Vandross Suffers Stroke
E! Online to My Yahoo!

By Joal Ryan

The "Here and Now" must be especially precious for Luther Vandross, felled by a stroke Wednesday.

"Vandross is under medical care and his family and friends are hopeful for a speedy recovery," Carmen Romano, the singer's business manager, said in a statement.

The three-time Grammy-winning R&B star turns 52 on Sunday.

News of Vandross' attack came from his label, J Records. There was no word on his condition, or details on where he was being treated.

The singer's latest album, Dance With My Father, is due out June 17.

The album is the 15th of Vandross' solo career, and features contributions by Beyoncé Knowles, Queen Latifah and Stevie Wonder, among others.

He was scheduled to perform April 30 in Memphis at grand-opening ceremonies for the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, dedicated to the legendary R&B label Stax Records (home to the likes of Otis Redding (news) and Sam and Dave).

Vandross' health has been the subject of speculation for years due to his very public battles with the bulge. The sultry-voiced, six-foot-three soul man has weighed as much as 340 pounds, as little as 200. In recent years, he's been on the svelte side.

"As a celebrity, rumors start," Vandross told the Website HealthTalk in 2001. "There were rumors that I died. There were rumors that I had AIDS (news - web sites), all because of the weight loss."

According to Vandross, he's just a yo-yo dieter, gaining and losing 120 pounds 14 separate times in his life.

"I don't function in the gray area well," he told HealthTalk. "I'm a black-and-white person. I'm either thin-thin, or I'm WWF heavy."

Vandross also copes with diabetes, a condition he was diagnosed with at age 18.

No amount of health issues, though, thwarted one of the most successful music careers ever. Beginning with his 1981 solo debut, Never Too Much, the New York-born singer-songwriter became R&B's standard-bearer of the smooth love song. In short, long before there was American Idol's Ruben Studdard, there was, and is, Luther Vandross (news).

His greatest hits could (and sometimes do) fill a wedding reception: the title cut from Never Too Much, "Give Me the Reason," "Always and Forever," "Power of Love" and his signature tune, "Here and Now."

Vandross' career dates back to the early 1970s, when as something of a prodigy (he was 20), he composed a song, "Everybody Rejoice (A Brand New Day)," for the Broadway musical The Wiz.

Throughout the 1970s, he apprenticed as a back-up vocalist for the likes of Bette Midler (news), Barbra Streisand (news) and David Bowie (news). Bowie's landmark 1975 album Young Americans even contains a track cowritten by Vandross, "Fascination."

Of his new album, Vandross said in a statement, "I have been reexamining the way I write: I don't want to say anything that was just nifty."

Lil Bow Wow -- New Movie and New CD

from vh1.com

On his third album, aptly titled Unleashed, Bow Wow is barking like you've never heard him.

"I'm 16 years old now, [so] I'm talking a lot of garbage, talking a lot of trash, you know what I'm saying?" a brash Bow Wow said Saturday at

Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. "That's how I'm doing it on this album."

So who will be the victim of the no-longer-Lil'-one's unleashing?

"I'm talking trash to everybody, man," Bow Wow said. "If you buy the album and listen to it, you'll know who I'm talking to."

One might expect a war of words with fellow youngster rhyme slinger Lil' Romeo, but that's not the case.

"That little cat ain't no rival with me," Bow Wow said. "You got to think about it. I'm 16 years old. He's 13. He could be my little brother, so, you know, I never really feel like no competition, but it would be a different ... if he started talking about me, but little man never said nothing wrong about me."

Unleashed, due in June, features production from the Neptunes, Bone Crusher and Jazzy Pha (Lil' Wayne), among others, but none from longtime Bow Wow collaborator Jermaine Dupri.

"I didn't work with Jermaine this whole album, so it kind of gave me the opportunity to just step up and just do what I want to do, put everything together and just write for the fans," Bow Wow said.

Before dropping his third album, the rapper, who starred in "Like Mike" last year, is shooting his next movie, an ensemble comedy called "Johnson Family Vacation" (see "Bow Wow, Solange Going On 'Vacation' With Cedric, Vanessa Williams").

"He's a great actor," co-star Vanessa Williams said of Bow Wow. "We're having a good time."

In what free time is left, Bow Wow is developing his own fashion line, Shago Clothing.

This report is provided by MTV News

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Forget the googly eyes they made at each other in the video for "Puppy Love." Bow Wow and Solange Knowles are teaming up once again, but this time the labelmates are playing the children of Cedric "The Entertainer" and singer-turned-actress Vanessa
Williams in the upcoming flick "Johnson Family Vacation."
"She's the older sister and of course they don't get along," Solange's father Mathew Knowles said on Wednesday (April 2) about her onscreen interaction with Bow Wow. "They raise hell every day. It's a great role."
The movie is being compared to the Chevy Chase "Vacation" franchise, which became popular in the '80s. Those films centered around the many mishaps of the dim-witted Griswold family as they trekked around the world.
The Johnson family doesn't have much better luck as they travel across the country and get into trouble. The movie is still in production and slated to come out later this year.
"Part of the overall plan of her career is to merge music and the big screen," Knowles said of Solange's multitasking. "We're doing that with all our artists. Kelly [Rowland], hopefully within the next 30 days we'll be able to make an announcement of a movie she's doing this year. We're going to be making an announcement of a movie that Beyoncé is doing this year, and there is a play that Michelle [Williams] is doing this year. The whole climate of the music industry is such that you have to do more than music."
In two weeks Solange will be putting time into her first job. She's releasing "Crush," the second single from her debut LP, Solo Star, and shooting its accompanying video.
"The thing that Solange does really well is dance," Knowles said of his daughter's clip. "It's going to be more of a performance video showing her qualities as a vocalist and dancer."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Bow Wow said he's just about finished with his still-untitled next album. The rep said Jermaine Dupri had no involvement in the project, but would not divulge with whom Bow Wow will be collaborating on the album. It is still being determined which songs are going to make the LP.
In the recent weeks, however, Lil Jon has said that he did some production work on the record, and ATL MC Bone Crusher (see "Bone Crusher Serves 'Scared' Rap Competitors A Steaming Slice Of ATL") said he's been working in the studio with the teen titan as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IMO, Ced and Vanessa Williams is a VERY ODD pairing. I could see a lot of other actresses in her place. No comment on SOLANGE. I would rather see KYLA PRATT.

Baby Shaquir

From ESPN.com:

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The wife of Shaquille O'Neal gave birth to a baby boy early Saturday, eliminating the possibility the Los Angeles Lakers center would skip a playoff game to witness the birth.

Shaunie O'Neal gave birth to the couple's third child at 1:52 a.m. at a Los Angeles-area hospital, team spokesman John Black said.

The baby's name is Shaquir Rashaun O'Neal. :eek:

O'Neal was excused from Saturday's practice. He was scheduled to fly on his own to Minneapolis late Saturday for Sunday's opening game of a first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Black said.

"We're really happy for the delivery of a child and the fact that everything's safe and sound and we can go forward from there,'' coach Phil Jackson said. "Hopefully he can get to Minneapolis, get some rest and be ready to play the first game. That's a pivotal game for every team.''

O'Neal had said he could not rule out missing a game to witness the birth. The due date was April 27, the same day as Game 4 of the best-of-seven series between the Timberwolves and the Lakers.

Teammate Kobe Bryant said he would not be surprised if O'Neal had a big game Sunday despite his expected late arrival in Minneapolis.

"You just roll off the adrenaline,'' said Bryant, who scored 48 points in a 2001 playoff game at Sacramento after leaving the team to attend to a personal matter.

The birth comes days after the death of O'Neal's maternal grandfather, Sirlester O'Neal. Funeral services are expected to be held this week in South Carolina, Black said. O'Neal is expected to attend.

The birth of O'Neal's son and death of his grandfather are not a distraction to the Lakers, Bryant said.

"If it was a distraction, it's a distraction that we don't care too much about because his family is obviously more important than the game,'' Bryant said. "We're more than happy to deal with it and do whatever it takes to help him and his family get to a place to have some sort of peace.''

R.I.P. Nina Simone

Jazz Great Nina Simone Dies
Apr 21, 4:03 PM EST

(Associated Press) -- Nina Simone, the jazz great whose raspy, forceful voice helped define the civil rights movement, died Monday at her home in France, according to her U.S. booking agent. She was 70.

Though she remained a top concert draw in her later years, she was quite frail.

At a 2001 concert at Carnegie Hall, she had to be helped to the stage, and was later seen sitting backstage in a wheelchair.

Eric Hanson, an agent with her U.S. booking agency Ted Kurland Associates, confirmed the death to The Associated Press.

Born Eunice Kathleen Waymon in Tryon, N.C., she was a classically trained pianist whose songs ranged from blues to spirituals to classical fare. But she gained fame in 1959 with her recording of "I Loves You Porgy," from the musical "Porgy & Bess."

She later became a voice of the civil rights movement, with her song "Mississippi Goddam," and later, "To Be Young, Gifted and Black."

Simone spent much of her recent time in France, and in a 1998 interview blamed racism in the United States for her decision to live abroad, saying that as a black person she has "paid a heavy price for fighting the establishment." She did not elaborate but said racial inequality in the United States was "worse than ever."

She left the United States in 1973 and lived in the Caribbean and Africa before settling in Europe.

Simone, who had a regal presence onstage, enjoyed perhaps her greatest success in the 1960s and 70s, with songs like "I Want A Little Sugar in My Bowl," and "Peaches."

She recorded songs from as diverse as Bob Dylan to the Bee Gees and made them her own. Perhaps one of her more popular covers was her version of Dylan's "House of the Rising Sun."

She was survived by a daughter, Lisa, according to her personal manager, Clifton Henderson.

as far as Brian McKnight, maybe it's me but he seems to be going through an early mid-life crisis. he married and had kids young, got into the entertainment/Hollywood scene, felt trapped and jetted. i feel bad for Julia but i think she'll do better. a good divorce lawyer will do that for ya:D

Suge Knight Calls Tupac/ Nas Track 'Disrespectful'

Innuendo, speculation, rumors — Suge Knight says he's going to squash them all and tell the real story of his life and his relationship with Tupac Shakur when he puts out his autobiography in November.

"I got a book coming out, which is called 'American Dream or American Knightmare,' he disclosed a week ago in New York. "I wasn't pumped up to do a book. I felt that most people who do books are in desperate need to grab a few dollars. That wasn't the case with me. I felt there was so many books out speaking on me, speaking on Pac, speaking on Death Row. There's a lot of question marks I need to put periods [on]. It will be aggressive, plus there will be some educational things for the kids."

Knight also said that some MCs should educate themselves on Shakur's history before thinking about using his music. He praised Jay-Z for sampling Tupac's "Me and My Girlfriend," was disappointed by Nas' participation in last year's "Thugz Mansion" and had disdain for Daz because he gave out some unreleased Pac vocals to be used on the street smash "The Realest Killas" with 50 Cent.

"Pac can go hard in the paint on anybody when he wanted to and I'm gonna ride with him regardless, but I know Pac didn't have a real disliking for Jay," Knight said of some of the old disses Shakur levied at Young Hova on the Makaveli album. "[Pac] didn't have a disliking to him where if he saw [Jay] he wanted to try and take his head off.

"I think it was a situation that we get older, we grow," Knight explained signing off on Jay-Z's use of the music from "Me and My Girlfriend" (see "Jay-Z, Beyonce Are 'Bonnie & Clyde' On First Blueprint 2 Single"). "If Jay wanted to do something that he felt great about, if he wants to do something that's positive and is also not being disrespectful to Pac, why not? Sometimes we gotta be able to open our eyes up."

Knight raised an eyebrow when he heard the Tupac/ Nas collaboration "Thugz Mansion" last year (see "On Tupac Video Set, Nas Says Rapper Better Than Shakespeare"). Although Nas was asked to participate in the project by Shakur's estate, Suge said if it were up to him, the two MCs' vocals would have never been on the same track.

"I think it's real disrespectful to Pac," he lamented. "You gotta put a price on fame; it can't be to the point where you'll do anything for a hit. Be a man and have respect. If you can't respect nobody else, respect yourself. Don't go [do a song] knowing a certain individual didn't care for you. I could see Jay-Z doing what he did more than Nas on the same song with Pac, because Nas and Pac is from two different worlds."

Obviously, Dogg Pound gangsta Daz and Tupac were from same world: They were signed to the same label, hung in the same circles and made several recordings together. Still, Knight admitted anger at Daz's use of the Tupac vocals, some of which he independently sold, others he simply gave away. An unreleased Tupac verse has appeared on the song "The Realest Killas," which was produced by Red Spyda and features 50 Cent (see "50 Cent Disses Ja Rule On Tupac Joint; New Biggie Material On The Horizon").

"That's bootleg stuff," Knight calmly iterated. "Anything that Daz did, that's bootleg stuff. It's only obvious anything that 50 Cent do on [a mixtape] with Pac, it's bootleg. You gotta look at the respect level of it."

Knight is planning to release his own Tupac music in conjunction with Shakur's mother, Afeni. He does not know exactly when those songs will see the light of day.

"We still have some stuff on him that is great, but at the same time, it's not about just doing anything on Pac," the label executive clarified.

Halle Berry says she thinks she's 'ugly'

Knight Ridder Newspapers

Halle Berry solidified her place as one of the world's sexiest women with her role as Bond girl Jinx in "Die Another Day."

But the Oscar-winning actress (Monster's Ball) says she still doesn't see herself as a beautiful star.

"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," she told the German magazine Journal fur die Frau. "I see myself without makeup every morning and that's why I don't have illusions anymore. I certainly don't feel like a big star."

Berry added that being black still hinders her progress in Hollywood.

"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. These narrow-minded people underestimate the public and prevent advancement in the industry."

Berry's next film will be "X-2," the sequel to "X-Men" slated for a May 2 release.

Well she's back, Monica Lewinsky, and she's in rare form. Girlfriend finally got rid of those knee pads and is currently engaged in head to head combat with none other than Anna Nicole (Trailer Park) Smith. Yes, that's right! Reportedly Monica Lewinsky just landed a new TV. reality series on FOX called, "Mr. Personality," which is set to air on April 21st 2003. This fact alone further confirms American TV. is spinning out of control.

Reportedly things are looking up for A-List actress "Vivica A. Fox," who ironically dropped to the B-List only months ago (and "B" standing for bankruptcy), following a very private, but nasty divorce from would be rapper "69." Word is girlfriend just landed a deal to revamp, produce and star in Showtime's version of "Get Christy Love," a vintage lady detective series. Sources say the little known fact is that singer, "Whitney Houston," was originally cast for the role, but executives quickly changed gears midstream after they collectively realized Whitney may only weigh 50-pounds when it came time to shoot the series.

Insiders say singer, "Brian McKnight," is on pins and needles as the real truth behind why his wife ended their 13-year marriage fiasco. Reportedly girlfriend been running her mouth and it's been alleged she suggested her marriage has been over for years. Allegedly she just couldn't play hose anymore. Just tired of the reported physical abuse, mental abuse and lonely nights, while Brian travels the country singing love songs that support family values and as soon as the clock strikes twelve, his old azz on a booty call. Brian McKnight's new album is called "U-Turn," which is funny, 'cause that's exactly what I plan to do, make a "U-Turn" as soon as I get to the cash register. I don't support abuse!

Sources say musical genius, "Missy Elliott," has worked her production magic once again and singer, "Monica," is reaping the benefits. "So Gone" is the 3rd single being released from Monica's forthcoming junior album. In fact, this album has actually been pushed back more times than Tonya Blount's album which is almost impossible. The single is set to drop on March 31st 2003, even though I don't know a soul who is checkin' for Monica. I've never heard of any artist having 3 singles out before the album is released. So, I need ya'll to remember that 'cause I promise you you'll never hear of this album again.

Singer, "R.Kelly," is back in the news and is due back in court on April 11th 2003. Meanwhile Chicago police continue to investigate a sexual abuse complaint filed against the singer by a 24-year old hair stylist. The woman claims R.Kelly exposed himself to her, pulled her hair and spat in her face because she laughed. This allegedly occurred while visiting his Chicago Trax recording studio. Yeah, he's a douche bag! If sentenced he'll be serving time in what they call the Sexual Predators Unit and rightly so.

Sources say singer, "Adina Howard," is making an unexpected comeback. In case you didn't know, before there was Lil' Kim or Khia, there was Adina (Freak Momma O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L baby). Her multiplatinum #1 single "Freak like Me" sold a whopping 2-million units worldwide. Can she do it again? We'll just have to wait and see, as her new album "Ride Again: 7/2" is scheduled to drop on July 2nd 2003. So this summer is going to be hot in more ways than one. But Adina got a lot of work to do 'cause Lil' Kim has given freak a whole new definition.

Well for those of you, who thought it was a wrap for Patti LaBelle's career, think again. Reportedly she was just picked up by Def Jam and peep this….There's a Patti and 50-Cent collaboration on the way. Many fans believe this whole 50-Cent phenomena is getting way out of hand. Critics find it hard to believe rapper 50-Cent is so hot that he can actually revive Patti LaBelle's career with just one single. Let's face it, his monkey azz got the heat!

In closing news, insiders say, "Jennifer Lopez" almost had a $1.5 million dollar disaster while dining at an upscale Hollywood eatery. Reportedly J-Lo took a bathroom break and inadvertently knocked her 6-caret pink diamond ring down the sink while washing her hands. Eye witnesses say she was horrified, as she'd ironically lost her former husband's (Criss Judd) ring down the sink as well. Reliving this nightmare twice and having to tell Ben Affleck she goofed again was unbearable. Needless to say restaurant workers recovered the ring and were given a $110.00 tip (cheap azz). It couldn't have been me, because that ring would have never come off my finger in the first place and if so, I would have torn that damn sink apart myself.

Steeltrap 04-22-2003 01:38 PM

Dislike this show but...

She's getting a break. Although why she'd be linked with sad-sack looking David Schwimmer is beyond me... :rolleyes:

Actress-comic Aisha Tyler joins 'Friends'
By LYNN ELBER
AP Television Writer

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Aisha Tyler looks at a reporter's hand extended in greeting and declines to shake. Is the new addition to "Friends" unfriendly? No, just considerate.

"I have a cold," she says apologetically, clutching a tissue. It takes more than a minor bug to keep Tyler down, however. The actress and comedian is energetic, smart and, sniffles or not, a real stunner.

Tyler, who begins a four-week run on "Friends" starting Thursday, April 24 (7 p.m.), also happens to be among the very few nonwhite love interests -- or faces, for that matter -- to grace the popular NBC comedy.

Ross (David Schwimmer) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) compete for the attentions of Tyler's character, a sexy paleontologist who shares Ross' passion for dinosaurs.

She's not the first nonwhite girlfriend on "Friends," Tyler points out -- Asian-American actress Lauren Tom and Gabrielle Union, who's black, have appeared. But Tyler has a sustained role in a show that's been criticized for whitewashing multiethnic Manhattan.

"The role wasn't written particularly for an African-American. I think they were just trying to cast the right actress," Tyler said.

She nearly didn't survive hearing the good news from her manager, delivered by cell phone while Tyler was driving in Los Angeles traffic.

"I screeched over and practically killed three people. And I started banging on my car and it was new and I was thinking I probably shouldn't bang on my car," she said. "It was the biggest thing in the whole world."

Bigger even than her job as the host of E! Entertainment's "Talk Soup." In 2001, she became its first female host (following Greg Kinnear, John Henson and Hal Sparks).

The 11-year-old comedy show ended last year but helped make her a media darling: Esquire magazine deemed her one of the "Women We Love" and Maxim listed her among its "Hot 100." It also won her the devotion of fans, including high school and college boys who write such sweet nothings as "You're the funniest chick I've ever seen" and offer to buy her a beer.

When Tyler tried out for "Talk Soup," she thought the show would never hire a black woman. "I was just going to go in and have a fun time."

Given a shot as guest host, she drew such an overwhelming response from viewers that she was hired full time. Witty AND sexy -- what's not to like? Others appreciated what she stood for as well.

"What's wonderful is there are people who would write in saying, 'It's so great to see a smart, offbeat black woman on TV.' ... But I don't think I set out to have a standard-bearer career. I just set out to be funny and communicate with people."

Being an agent of social change is "a heavy burden," she said, jokingly. But she knows that pop culture images carry weight.

"Typically, black women are not seen as attractive in white culture, so maybe it's a coup for a black woman who isn't light to appeal to black and white men," she told Heart & Soul magazine last year. "Maybe it's a coup for us that we start to be seen as attractive -- not as pretty for black girls, but just beautiful, period."

The 6-foot Tyler is accustomed to being in the vanguard, by choice or not. Her family (her father is a photographer, her mother a teacher) stretched itself financially to send her to a private school in San Francisco, where she was at times the only black student.

"AND my parents were vegetarians. I'd show up at school, this giant black kid, with none of the cool clothes and a tofu sandwich and celery sticks," she recalled over afternoon tea at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"It was very alienating and I could have just laid down and died. Instead I said, 'I'm going to make friends.' I was forced to intersect and interact and assimilate with a lot of other kids."

As a performer, she said, that has given her the ability to reach out across ethnic and gender lines. Hard work was also part of the formula: After graduating as a political science major from Dartmouth College (where she met her husband, attorney Jeff Tietjens), she worked days as an advertising executive in San Francisco and nights honing her stand-up skills at clubs.

Tyler, 32, hasn't abandoned her work ethic. Besides "Friends," there are movies (including "The Santa Clause 2" and the upcoming "Never Die Alone" with David Arquette) and a "comedic, post-feminist anti-'The Rules'" book she's writing -- which she intends as an antidote to the best-selling dating manual.

The next step? She admires Jennifer Aniston's career but has her eye on another Hollywood role model.

"I'm looking forward to doing work like Eddie Murphy did early in his career -- action-comedy films," Tyler said. "I'd like to do that because no woman's done it yet. It'd be cool to do something no one's done before."

For Tyler, being a groundbreaker is second nature.

Could that be a sign? Why do all of her relationships go down the drain.....?

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Rapper-turned-actor DMX ("Cradle 2 the Grave") is in negotiations to star in and produce the action-thriller "Werewolf."

The Phoenix Pictures project is described as being in the vein of "Blade." DMX will play a mysterious bluesman whose mission is to rid Earth of werewolves, the last of whom live among the rich, glamorous and drug-addicted in the Hollywood Hills.

A late-2003 start date in Montreal is being eyed. Italian director Dario Piana will make his U.S. feature debut from a script by Marshall Todd, who sold the project to Phoenix two years ago in a deal potentially worth almost $1 million.

DMX just wrapped shooting "Never Die Alone" for director Ernest R. Dickerson. His other credits include "Exit Wounds" and "Romeo Must Die." The actor is likely to take on another feature project before segueing into "Werewolf."

Piana has shot commercials for the likes of Ferrari, Dolce & Gabbana and Pennzoil.
