You may save a little gas by going slower, but not enough to warrant the extra time it would take to get to your destination. The gas will burn either way, so you may as well drive in a normal manner. |
You may also want to watch where you get your gas these days. Places like RaceTrac and Citgo may be cheaper, but they also tend to water down their gas. That's why it may seem like your gas is burning faster when you haven't really gone anywhere.

2.03 2.09 which has led me to believe i made the right choice by not driving. |
I'm still in the 1.80s around here. But it did take $34 to fill up this morning.

Since I only buy unleaded, right now it is $1.76. I was soo happy when I saw that this morning!

We have been above 2.15 for unleaded for a long time now. |
We've been around the 2.00 mark for a while now in MA...it fluctuates day after day.
My fiancee and I found a place in the city where it's usually a bit less. Compared to other countries though, things aren't so bad here. |
I paid 1.70 for unleaded yesterday. That's lower than it's been in a while.
|
I paid 1.88 today in New Orleans :( Gas has me broke! It takes me $34 to fill up so I have to cut my trips extremely short!
|
$2 right now...I can't even remember what a full tank of gas looks like and if I calculate it I would get mad and walk. Well maybe not walk umm ride a bike but wait winter is just around the corner. Well maybe I will look in a carpool or something. :(

Gottcha beat. I paid $2.25 the day before yesterday here in S.Cali. Guess there won't be too many trips to the beach this summer.
|
I was on "E" and put $20 in the tank @ $1.95/gallon. I still do NOT have a full tank.
|
It costs me almost $40.00 to fill up baby girl and she's only a Camry.....
|
Dang it!! I just got the heat fixed in the Green Machine!! Now we have to ration the heat in the car so we won't burn up a lot of gas!!
|
There won't be leisure driving any time soon until prices go down!
|
praise the mighty COSTCO
its 10 cents cheaper than the big names in my area.

I'm thankful that I have a small car that gets decent gas mileage and no longer feel embarrassed because I'm 40 and still have a small car. I'd rather spend my money on other things. :o :p |
We paid $71 to fill up today   :(

a friend who works in that industry once told me that Tuesdays/Wednesdays were the best (read: cheapest) days to buy gasoline. For the most part I've found that to be true. |

I'd feel better if it was a city bus. That way I'd be able to get some money back by charging fares...We filled up the Mountaineer and put a few gallons in the other car for $71...it hurts to even say that.:( |
I saw a place yesterday that was
2.05: regular unleaded 2.15: the medium grade junk and 2.25 for premium. Highway robbery!!! |
^^
This morning, I filled my 13.2 gallon tank Mazda at a Costco in Irvine, Calif. I put in just over 10 gallons, and it was $2.27 for 87. 91 octane was $2.43. Costco doesn't sell 89. |
Gas is still between $1.87 and $1.89 for 87 in Central NJ

You think this is bad, it's going to get worst. One of the OPEC member nation, Indonesia, have just announced that they will not be able to meet their quota. Less petrol will be entering the market. :(
This is vastly different then the 1970s. Instead of politics, this time it's the market that is raising the price. Unlike the 70s, we have two emerging powerhouse that is absorbing a lot of petrol. Namely China and India. There is no sign that the growth rate of those two countries will be slowing down. Although China is now trying to lower their growth rate by a percentage point. So, expect even higher petrol prices in the near future. |

The newscasters are also saying that another difference is the huge demand for oil by the U.S., caused by the plethora of SUVs now on our roads. I know one thing: I paid $2.25 for regular yesterday. I got $5 worth and called it a day. LOL

Oh how I remember the days when one could put 93 in just because and 10 bucks will fill the tank to "F"
Not anymore. Its 2.39 where I live and 10 does nothing but put my tank just a little under HALF Once gas gets to 3 bucks here...I'm going to hit the closest Toys R Us and purchase a Huffy :( |
