It was only 2019, so there are definitely still students on campus who remember the old chapter. I hope this doesn't harm the new chapter's success but it feels awfully fast and I can think of several recent examples where this didn't end well.

As for presentation format, some of that might be dictated by the school-at Cornell, for example, no visitors are allowed to come to campus and the current maximum number of people allowed in a face-to-face meeting is ten. That max is probably going to drop because the MBA students had St Patty's Day parties and we're experiencing a spike in cases, but that's a different point...

I feel the same way. Usually they'll wait 4 years or more if they try a reorganization effort, but maybe there's so many people going greek that they need the extra chapter. Which is why I was surprised they were coming back so soon.

Also I saw on Greek rank (I didn't believe it until the QUFSL post) that they were going to do a quick reorganization a little after the chapter closed, so who knows it could work.

LaneSig, the article says the school “expelled” the chapter and it would never again be allowed back on that campus.

In these situations where there is a death, wouldn’t it wiser for Pike Nationals to be proactive and close it themselves? Or does that increase their legal liability? It just seems that they should have beaten the school to it.

My opinion only: in this case and other cases where a group has been permanently banned from a campus, it is the school that does the banning. The inter/national organization probably hoped to return one day in the future, so did not agree to the permanent ban. They will agree to the closure, but probably did not issue a joint statement with the campus due to the ban.

That's too bad. I imagine with the pandemic it was just too difficult.

Yes I think that added to the challenges. I was excited about this chapter recolonizing as one of the sisters in my AC I believe she was either an early member or a founding member when this chapter colonized.

All Greek Life at Wesley College will cease as the college is being acquired by Delaware State University.

SWTXBelle 04-26-2021 09:28 AM

Given the number of Divine Nine chapters at Wesley, wouldn't they just be folded into the Delaware State University chapters? I don't know how NPHC chapters handle that. It looks like Delta Phi Epsilon is the one NPC chapter - reading the announcement, I don't see where it states that Greek life will cease. Am I looking right at it? I apologize if so.

I was confused about that, also. I was hoping someone would be able to provide more details.

For Wesley being merged into Delaware State, Alpha Phi Omega's chapter at Wesley is active, and the chapter at Delaware State is not. I'm curious how that is going to work.

Our Alpha Rho colony at Georgia Tech was installed yesterday.

Also, last week during our “State of Fraternity” address, our CEO said there are 5 planned colonizations for the 2021-22 school year. Our Alpha at Miami University and Eta at Muhlenberg are 2 of these colonizations.

Sigma Chi has been closed at Illinois Wesleyan University. Closure is due to RMF.

PGD-GRAD 05-19-2021 06:46 PM

Yes. According to the Illinois Wesleyan school newspaper, the Sigma Chi closure is for 3 years due to a hazing incident that occurred in early April. Their house must be closed and their social media shut down.

Local paper's article about it - a student received a cut and bruise on the head due to a hazing incident. This article includes part of Sigma Chi's response - looks like they will not attempt a return to campus until at least 2025.
