Ohhhhh hush you people because the Mizzou Tigers are going to whoop everyone's ASSES!

amycat412 12-03-2002 02:43 AM

Heard today, ROSE BOWL would prefer Iowa over other team. They REALLY want to preserve the Pac 10 - Big 10 tradition of the Rose Bowl, and are quite snooty (and quite right) in believing its the most venerable of all Bowl games. :)

Thrillhouse 12-03-2002 09:44 AM

Thats great for the rose bowl to want Iowa but nothing is final. In my opinion, its down to Notre Dame or Iowa for the last bowl slot. As much as I hate Notre Dame, they might get it due to the Irish's popularity. The big ten champ is going to the fiesta, so a #2 big ten team might not be appealing to fans. That will teach the big ten to get a title game going.

Assuming Miami, Georgia, OU and WSU WIN this weekend....
We already know that USC is #4 in the BCS, thus guaranteeing them a BCS Bowl - the Orange just might take Iowa snubbing #10 Notre Dame. Leaving The Rose Bowl (WSU already playing in it as Pac 10 champ) with the following teams to choose from:

Big 12 winner (OU)
ACC winner (FSU)
SEC Winner (Georgia)
USC (at-large)

The Rose Bowl would MOST LIKELY choose OKlahoma for the Rose Bowl so it wouldn't have to have a Pac 10 vs Pac 10 matchup. Then Georgia would meet USC in the Sugar Bowl.

Bring 'em all on... The Sooners looked like they're back after last night!

CU tried the long ball and it was stopped. FS Brandon Everage is finally looking himself again.

Doesn't matter who OU plays or in what bowl. They'll win.

Oklahoma has been the jekyl and hyde team this year. Yes, at times they have looked like the BEST team in the country. Than again, just when people start to think that, OU will lose a game.

IowaHawkeye 12-08-2002 06:07 PM

Iowa vs. USC is going to be the best bowl game this year - no doubt about it.

I'm disappointed I won't be going to Pasadena with all of the Tradition of the Rose bowl - but Miami is going to be a hell of a good time.

It's because they don't have a lot of depth right now in the secondary.. Or at least the secondary is playing hurt (or has been) and has given up big plays (long passes have been the only way anyone's been running up points on Oklahoma).

Ya sure about that one? The oklahoma game will be good, and the Miami game will be fun to watch. Time to see if the big ten can step up. Iowa in my eyes is a longshot to be USC just like Ohio St vs Miami so it will interesting to see.

Kevin 12-08-2002 08:51 PM

Miami no defense...

Ohio State no offense...

Should be interesting.

Was nice to see TX Tech show what the Big 12 South is like. They went 55-15 against Clemson. Will be interesting to see how much the rest of the Big 12 teams are going to win by:D

KT, man, I knew your ass was going to do this, hahahaha - I was seriously watching the game, saying "Now those Big XII kids will be all up on TxTech's stuff . . . " although I was mostly looking toward my friends at ISU

Anyway - I'm not terribly impressed with thumping Clemson, they weren't a good team to start with, although the TT did look pretty solid, and especially Kingsbury looked pretty good. It will be interesting to see how his draft position turns up . . .

But where was this newfound desire to determine a conference's toughness by TTech's game when Iowa beat them last season, in SA?

(just playing man)

Their QB jammed his thumb in the first period. The backup wasn't quite as good as Chang.

Tulane did play a pretty decent game though.

Yeah - Tulane's QB looked pretty good at times, too, and I guess Kiper has him rated pretty high going into next season . . . of course, that and a buck will get you a cup of coffee, except for at the starbucks

It's all good though. If all goes well, I will be having the time of my life on South Beach not even thinking about this god forsaken team, lol.

But I am still optimistic!

Um....yeah. :(

Sorry Librasoul all 4 predict Georgia over FSU.

They'll be lucky to get more than 50% right. Some of these matchups are pretty damned good.

As for FSU vs Georgia... well sorry Librasoul;)

The1calledTKE 12-27-2002 02:04 PM

Georgia signs Richt for 8 more years. Good call hope they will be a dominate 8 years too.

WVU Football!!

Woo hoo! My Mountaineers are predicted to win by all four of the guys (and by me, of course!)...

Let's Go Mountaineers!

chopper816 12-27-2002 10:51 PM

well, the huskers lost to ole miss 27-23, and this is their first non winning season in decades (their record is 7-7). hopefully the coaching changes will do some good next year or hopefully solich will be the next one to lose his job.

I can't believe i'll actually be rooting for WVU... gotta go with the Big East though. 2-0 in bowls so far this year, thanks to my Pitt boys kicking the snot out of the Oregon beavers!

I hope they at least put up a fight when they visit Oklahoma next year. Sad to see them as the only Big 12 team to lose today.. Of course Eli Manning, Ole Miss QB is the Sigma Nu athlete of the year so I'm not too upset;)

docetboy 12-28-2002 02:50 AM

Though I go to school in Topeka, I actually live in Bellevue, NE (where I am right now)

Was watching the game across the river at Ameristars...

My Signature has been updated to proclaim what over 1.5 million Nebraskans are feeling right now, as Nebraska Football has been the official state religion for a long, long, time.

Man, the huskers just plain sucked this season - it's unfortunate (and I HATE the huskers, but you have to at least acknowledge what they had) . . . Ole Miss (Mini-Manning aside) just isn't good. You guys think it's time for Solich to go? I feel like he's not getting the recruits that Nebraska is used to getting.

docetboy 12-28-2002 06:08 PM

I for one want Solich out of the state....Oklahoma or Colorado can have him

I can't believe USC was only 8 points behind Georgia for the number three slot. Georgia did really well and won one more game than USC.

Thrillhouse 01-04-2003 03:29 PM

Boise st is #12 in one of the polls. They've got to be happy about that. Interesting to see Kansas st drop a spot despite winning and Iowa falling to 8th. In Iowa's case, teams that make it to top bowl games shouldn't drop that far. Miami only dropped one spot.

USC-Ohio St would be a hell of a game right now.
