leafs win
if they make it past the sens its gonna be a full fledged riot time here. Hope ottawa beats em tho.. beat em 5-0 in game 1 nand it took the leafs a long time to win game 2.. thinking all players inovolved are tired
surprsied leafs didnt use last line of defence (gotta love puns) |
That toronto and ottawa game was amazing. That series could very well go 7 games.
|
All I have to say is the Wings are taking it all this year.
I don't think I need to list the reasons why! I just hope we don't get over confident at all.... (knocks on wood) M. Sigma Nu |
Good win boys.
|
Right now it looks like every series except the Wings/St. Louis has a likelyhood of running til game seven.
|
There was an interesting article about the Sharks goaltending...
http://www.faceoff.com/nhl/teams/sha...ews219017.html I personally liked this statement (Sharks Coach on Colorado): "I think it's great that their coaching staff is now making some of our decisions," Sutter said. "That takes some work off of me." ;) |
Looking ahead..the best series of the tournament
Right now, I like the looks of a Montreal/Ottawa final in the East. It's kind of a shame that only one of those two goaltenders can go on to the finals. I am amazed at the way that Theodore can take 3-4 times as many shots as the opposing goalie, and still wind up winning the game! Lalime has been unbelievable in the playoffs. We had an IHL team here in Kansas City for about 10 years, the Blades, and we had Lalime in the nets for one of those years. He did a good job, but nothing that would prepare you for the kind of performance he's been putting on.
In the West, Roy is showing some chinks in his armour. If the Avs go down, I like San Jose's chances of going to the finals. The Wings will get by St. Louis (perpetual underachievers, regardless of who they add to the mix), but I just don't think they will win the cup. |
Great wins by Montreal and St. Louis tonight. Still, all St. Louis did was delay the obvious for another day. I would like to see Ottawa take it all the way but we shall see.

Funny....no wings fans posts after the loss the other day.;) Nice comeback by Carolina that series is pretty interesting. I don't care how bad the teams in the east are, the games have been good so far.
|
Those habs choked badly, and the refer-ing was very inconsistent at the end...this could be the turning point in the series.

I hope they win it saturday at home. |
hey leslie, do they have that date in early june yet for the parade in Detroit?
|
I think the Blues are finished - without Pronger, the Wings will steamroll and finish it off in 5 games...bad news for Avs or Sharks - they'll be well rested for whoever wins (if the Avs would simply play Avs hockey, this would already be settled Dangit!)
East? I'd love both series to go 7 games - I still like the way Ottowa plays - Ottowa and Montreal in conference finals (though the 'Canes sure are a pesky team). Wings/Ottowa in the finals - Avs, outside chance at this point - but I think Ottowa might surprise a lot of people and win it all... |

I'd really like to see Carolina win in the east, but I don't know that it'll happen. All the teams are really fighting it out. |
What a GREAT Sharks game today! Wow, they really needed that one. But Detroit won in 5 games, so they will be well rested for whoever wins the Sharks-Avs series.
|
Again, Yeah Wings! http://www.plaudersmilies.de/party/yelclap.gif
I was really glad Hasek got the shutout and Shanahan got a pair of goals and assists. Maltby (my favorite player) also made some amazing blocks on the powerplay when he lost his stick. It'll be really good for our guys, especially Stevie, to get some rest before the next series. Really good Sharks effort as well! I've noticed a lot of people have disappeared on this thread...maybe because their team got eliminated...is anyone rooting for someone new now? |

GO CANES!!!
Who cares about those Hornets? |

I'm still around - I can't believe Montreal lost to Carolina - what was it 5-1. At least we are guranteed one canadian team in the eastern conference final. Of course I've disappeared a bit from this topic simply, even though I am fully supporting Ottawa and Montreal, it just isn't the same or as exciting with the Canucks.
I've been following other news in the Canuck world - I hope the Liberals pass that piece of legislation to do with cutting property taxes and adding on out of towner taxes so the team is desirable for a local buyer... |
philly had offense, just absolutely no team chemistry...7 centres on a team where everyone hates eachother.
That game was brutal last night, stupid Persson - you F*&%ing suck, taking a dumb penalty like that. |
Figures that you'd argue with me...my point was, that on paper, Philly appears to have well-knowns just like Detroit. However, they can't make those players into a winning line-up.
I hope Carolina wins tonight...I was disappointed that the Sens didn't finish off Toronto last night, but hey, more hockey! |

I would like to see a team like Carolina or Ottawa win it all. Especially Carolina, I think it is hilarious that they are doing as good as they have been. And I just cannot stop saying "first confrerence final since 1998" |
Yeah Carolina! :) They played a great game!
|
Go Carolina!!!!!!!!
I love hockey!!! Well, at least for as long as we are winning!!!!! Go Canes!!!!!!!! |
Go Carolina....I hope they win the east though they don't have the talent that either Toronto or Ottawa have.
I am watching the avs-sharks game right now....great great game. |
so what do I know??
So much for Montreal advancing. I guess if your getting outshot 4 to 1, you goaltender can only carry you for so long. I'm impressed with the Leafs. Guys keep dropping like flies, and yet they still find a way to win. I saw a close-up of Tie Domi's face the other night. I hope the other guys look as bad!!
Can San Jose beat Detroit? You have to think that the age of the Detroit star players is going to catch up with them sooner or later. It's been a good tournament so far. |

Three out of the possible 4 conference finalists will be reaching that mark for the first time in their history (modern history for ottawa). I'd really like to see an Ottawa-S.J. final, doubt it's gonna happen. The best we can hope for is that s.j. pulls out a win, and takes the wings' star players to the cleaners. |
Don't follow hockey much... how much of a chance does Carolina have in the next round?

On the West, I'd be nice for the Sharks to advance since they've never made it to the Western Conference Finals, but I don't really care who the Wings play. When is the Avs/Sharks game seven? |
Crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap. Ack, I can't believe Montreal is out. My takes on TO and Ottawa - the Sens for sure, TO is way too injured. And in the west I really want to see the Sharks win.
|

I would like to take LilG into the boards and smack him around.

Well, since Owen Nolan is my favorite player, and the B's have already choked, I think I gotta run with the Sharks - that game last night was sick, except for the part when the Sharks converted 4 odd-man rushes in the 3rd period into 2 shots and 0 goals. Good job boys. Jesus.
The Sharks dominated a good 10 min stretch to start the 3rd period, no excuse for losing that game. No reason to have to go back to Colorado for a game 7. The Sharks aren't a great match-up for Detroit - their D can be a little suspect at times (see Reinprecht's walk-around goal), and Nabokov is streaky like it's his job. However, they could definitely get up on the Wings quickly, like they did on the Avs. As far as the east - I have no love for the freaking Hurricanes or the Leafs, but I love watching the Sens play, so go Ottawa - bring back the olden days of Senators hockey. |

Who wants to place a bet? |
jesus, 3 hours and counting...it all comes down to this. I hope to hell they win, i'll never ever hear the end of it otherwise.

Ontario must be one crazy province right now... Go Sens
