In the meanwhile, here are some examples of other female fraternities (taken from their national websites):

Alpha Phi International Fraternity Established in 1872

I have plenty of Pi Phi, Theta, and Kappa friends (they make up the top tier down here in Austin)......never heard them refer to themselves as a fraternity, rather a sorority. All the women in my family were either Thetas or Pi Phis........and its the same with them.

Oh well.

As I stated earlier, it is your Pref.

But as your Brother stated, I too have met many members of other GLOs by wearing letters. I really like meeting members fro other GLOs and sometimes I find mine. Hell, a Kenny Chesney concert, I met 5 LX's, a BTPi, and a ZTA even though I was looking for an AGD!:D

I do not wear them all of the time, but if I wear a ball cap, I wear mine with letters.

Why should I advertise for Old Navy, Da GAP, Buttweiser, Nike just to be cool and over pay on items?

I don't think there's any danger of you being "cool".

My old chapter advisor is the same way - good paraphernalia can cost as much as mainstream name brands, and at least you know most of your clothes will match. now i dont wear my letters everyday, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier to figure out what to wear to a greek event.

No he didn't. His obvious point concerned the differences between men and women as to what they might wear, not whether the organization to which they belong is officially called a "fraternity" or "sorority." Nice try, though.

It took me by suprise seeing "Chi Omega Fraternity" on their plaque in front of their house. It was founded here at Arkansas.

Let's not rewrite history. His "obvious point" was to launch a personal attack, but instead, he made himself look like an ass with his ignorance.

Doesn't change the truth of the rest of his post...which I'm sure has been reported.

Tom Earp 01-16-2007 03:20 PM

Now for the main subject at hand, wearing letters as Alums.:)

I can assure you there are plenty of guys that have absolutely no idea that sororities like Kappa, Theta, Pi Phi, etc. are officially referred to as Fraternities. If that makes all of us "look like asses with our ignorance" then so be it.

.....now go drink your prune juice, comb through some public records, and shut up.

No, bluesangel;, IMVHO you are the one who is making the error.
I only know about "fraternity" because a few of our "Little Sisters" were members of a few of those "sororities" with official title of "Fraternity".
And when I first heard it, I truly thought that my leg was being pulled.

And getting back to topic, IMHO, what one choices to wear and when is really up to them.

Many of us seem to wear letters at the gym; my gym seem like a regular Greek row on some nights.

During the summer, I have a hat or two I wear.
And when I wear a jacket, I have a two flag lapel pin.

And I have a "vanity plate" as well.

As we have seen here, others wear more, other wear less.

Right... I'm sure there are a lot of guys who don't know that groups like Kappa, Theta, etc. are officially referred to as fraternities. But then, they don't put their foot in their mouth like you did. You thought you were so clever "correcting" me on the term... and then throwing in some personal attacks too.

Be careful, you're going to get "athlete's tongue!" :D

I actually didn't correct you at all. I said that I had never heard of a sorority having "Fraternity" in its official name. Thanks though.

What a douchenozzle.

Go away.

PeppyGPhiB 01-17-2007 01:48 AM

Mac, I think what everyone's trying to say is that although NPC GLOs are generally referred to as sororities, technically some of them are named fraternities, not sororities. Of course even their members for the most part refer to their organization as a sorority in casual conversation.

ETA: OK, I didn't read to the very end of the thread before posting this, so I didn't see that you obviously get it now.

While you sprout a halo, and your buddy Mystic takes up for you... here is your post.. just to refresh your memory. Here's a tip.. next time you make a sarcastic remark, make sure you have your facts straight. And here's another tip... personal attacks are against the TOS.

I still didn't correct you....try again. See those question marks? That would indicate a question.

I'm sorry you were around when Moses recited the Ten Commandments and now you've forgotten how to read.

AlexMack 01-17-2007 02:53 PM

I see many personal attacks in this thread, and all from the same person. Oh no!
Also, nowhere in the TOS does it say 'no personal attacks or else.'
