two of the members in EVE 6 are Lambda Chi's.
a couple of years ago they did a concert in D.C. and some of my brothers went and held their letters up in the crowd and they got invited back stage and the band signed their letters. |
The Man!!!!!!
Ron Jeremy(Porn Star) is a TKE!!!!! That is the s#it.......

I can definitely vouch for Leeza Gibbons as tri-delt (she went to my school) and I always thought that Tiffany Amber-Thiesson and Delta Burke WERE ZTA's...
Anyway, here's the DG list: Patricia Heaton Julia Louis-Dreyfus Christine Lahti Joan Lunden Donna Mills Holly Shand (Road Rules) Julia Sweeney Well, I'm tired of typing, but here's the site: http://www.deltagamma-msu.com/alumni.html |

That is so cool! I know in my area of Indianapolis is where Daves mom lives now. (Carmel area) and she had her birthday party at the Classic Kitchen in Noblesville. That is where my parents live...:) People have his mom sitings all the time around there. SHe is a super lady from what I have heard. |
Ok, I have a question-was JFK Jr. a greek? Because one of my patients was watching E! today while I was in their room, and it was the True Story show and it was on JFK Jr.-and I caught something about him joining a fraternity while in college. Anyone know about this?
|
I don't know if it's already been posted (this is a long thread!!) but Ashley Judd was in Kappa Kappa Gamma. E! had a program about her and in one of her home clips she was wearing a letter shirt!

Sigma Nu's watching the movies will always catch the irony of Indy's supposed dislike of snakes, since the snake is prevalent in Sigma Nu symbols. Now, i'm not claiming this was done on purpose, Ford giving a shout out to Sigma Nu's everywhere, but i always give an extra chuckle at that part when watching his movies. Also, to add to the whole sorority pin on the flag on the moon urban legend, one of my HS buddies was a Phi Delt at UTSA, and he told me that Neil had his Phi Delt badge on the bottom of his boot when he exited the lunar lander, so the first thing that touched the moon was his Phi Delt badge. Again, i'm not saying i believe this, but it's just another funny little urban legend. Kitso KS 361 |

Max Ary, who was CEO of the Cosmosphere as well as being one of the nations foremost experts on space history, told me that no pins would have flown in the first place aboard Apollo missions, particularly in the Lunar Module. Obviously a lot of possibility of it snagging on something or floating in to the circuits and what not. And many of the astronauts on the lunar surface were afraid of the possibility of putting a hole in the foil thin exterior of the LM. Gene Cernan, a FIJI and the last man to walk on the moon talks about this fraility of the LM in his book The Last Man on the Moon. Now it was fairly common for astronauts to smuggle aboard contraband, but as for putting his pin on his boot, I see two things wrong with this, first being the rigidity of the bottom of the boot, the second: facing the possibility of puncturing his space suit seems out of character for any astronaut, let alone Neil Armstrong. Almost all of the accounts of Armstrong that I have read have said that he was quiet, meticulous and by no means a troublemaker, and that as a civilian pilot, he didn't fit the typical "fighter jock" image. I doubt this will put to rest any of these urban legends but at least all of you are informed. |
-Heather Whitestone, former Miss America, is on an AOPi composite at my school from the early nineties... but I don't think she was ever initiated.
-Julia Roberts is an honorary Phi Mu. -Anybody ever watch "Ghostwriter" as a kid? (PBS mystery show) I've read that two of the actresses, Blaze Berdahl (Lenni) and Tram-Anh Tran (Tina) are both Pi Beta Phi's, one at NYU and the other at Penn State. I can't think of any more right now! |
Kokie Roberts' mother...

Ok this is beginning to be embarressing-- there are no famous alum from ASA. Also on the thread about what chapter do you want on your campus no one has said they want ASA. So i think I am going to pretend not to be an ASA since no one seems to like us!:(
|
Ok, sorry if I am repeating this but everyone claims their pin is on the moon but has no proof. Sigma Kappa though has proof that our badge has been in space.
From our pledge book: "Rhea Seddon, Lambda, is a mission specialist for NASA. Her first flight into space was aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1985. She took her Sigma Kappa badge on her flight into space." It might not be on the moon but it has been out there!! Just to prove Sigma Kappas are out of this world!! sorry if this is corny ;) |

thanks lifesaver :)
OK maybe she is not famous in the movie star sense...but at our convention last month, the Recognition of Eminence Award (only 7 ASA's have received it) went to Cindy Ryan. Cindy is the first woman ever to be the chief counsel to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Plus, I met her and she's totally cool. oh, and I had a letter published in TV Guide once. Does that count as fame? :p |
He's not famous anymore because he's dead, but General Sherman was a Theta Chi.

My boyfriend and I had a discussion about this a few months ago and he told me that Dr. Suess's wife actually WASN'T a Sigma Kappa. That's what he was taught in his program since there has been so many rumors about it. Looks like this is another case like the pin on the moon.....will we ever know the truth? Probably not.;) [/B][/QUOTE] I am almost 100 percent sure that Dr. Suess's wife is a Sigma Kappa. There are WAY too many similarities in the grinch for her not to be. And there is no way that it is just a coincidence. My Sigma sisters can back me up on that. |
AlphaSigLana: didn't ASA grow out of an educational society? Which means most ASAs were originally teachers... and if THAT doesn't make them some of the most important people on the planet, I don't know what does. :-)
Aside from that, some of the most influencial people in MY life have been housewives, students, secretaries..... just because you're not world-famous doesn't mean you don't make a world of difference. :-D ~ Jacquelyn. |
Why don't you just ask Dr. Suess' wife what sorority she was in?
|
SigmaKappaKelly, i feel ya girl!!! there are too many coincidences for her not to be a sig kap. if she's not, i like to think she is. . .hahahah ;)
|
Sorry ladies. :(
Mrs. Geisel/Seuss is not a Sigma. That's according to Nationals. I wish she was. She lives in San Diego and is always giving $$$$ away. The UCSD library is named after her husband. :D I'd be stoked to have her in our alumnae chapter! I wonder if she's in a sorority or if she even went to college. What a triumph it'd be to initiate her as an almuna. |

I just relized something. When I get famous it will be hard to prove who I am because I will most likely use an assumed name.

Famous Phi's, and Armstrong comment
Let's see...famous Phi Delts... Here are a few:
Neil Armstrong (Astronaut) F. Story Musgrave (Astronaut) Lou Gehrig (Baseball) Benjamin Harrison (US President) Adlai Stevenston (US VP) James Baker (Frmr. Sec. of State) Bill Bixby (Actor) that's right the HULK! Dirk Benedict (Actor) Face from the A Team Tim Conway (Actor/Comedian) Robert Ebert (Critic) Hank Ketchum (Creator Dennis the Mennace) Sam Nun (Politician) But Reynolds (Actor) Bob Scheifer (CBS News) Frank Loyd Wright (Architect) J. Willard Marriot (founder of Mattiot) John McLarmore (founder of Burger King) You can find more at: http://www.phideltatheta.org/ look under our fraternity, then famous Phi's Also, as far as the Armstrong thing goes (it has been discussed in a couple of other posts). I do not know if he did leave a Phi Delt and/or Alpha Chi Badge on the moon but I have heard that at several different times. I do know that in our General Headquarters Meuseum that there is a Phi Delt Bade and a small Phi Delt flag (like the US flag the astronauts wear on their space suits) in a display, along with that is a letter from and signed by Armstron himself. It states something like, " I herby donate this badge and flag, that I carried to the moon on the Appolo landing, with the date and signature of Armstrong." So, I don't know if that clears anything up or adds more mystery to it. I think I have a pic of it somewhere I will look tonight and see and maybe scan it in this week. This convo actually leads me to open a new thread. What are other organizations Urban Legends? Wheter it be unconfirmed membership of certain "famous" people or the Armstrong moon badge story? I will try to start a new thread and get some interesting disuccsion going. Thanks! o.p.i.e. |
Timely...
I was just watching the US Open Tennis Championship coverage, and went back to check the Delt webpage. Bill MacAtee, the studio anchor is a Delt.
I thought I'd seen that before, but wasn't sure. |
I was watching O-town's "Making the Band" yesterday on MTV and Trevor, one of the members, was wearing PKF letters. supposedly he goes to Cal State fullerton.
|
Francine Neff, first woman treasurer of the USA, was an ADPi (they gave everyone who attended a convention a dollar bill with her signature). There's more, but I can't access the list from work .
I heard that Steve Martin was a Delt, and that JFK was a Phi Kappa Theta. honeychile |
