GreekChat has taught me:
1. Never to try to have a serious debate about anything (particularly today)
2. Never take negativity or attacks to heart
3. Never lose faith in the Greek system as a whole, even if others sometimes make it look petty and childish
:D

1. Think before you post.
2. If you don't know anything about a subject, don't pretend you do.

FIRST OFF LET ME SAY THIS I DO NOT HAVE ANY RITUALS OF ANY GLO!

Ok so as naïve and stupid as this might sound, I was not completely sure the end of this thread was completely about me at the end until I got a pm from another user. I have been in and out about the last two weeks and while I might be logged into GC, I am not always on here. I have been away from my house every weekend for the last month and I don’t really like to use other people’s computers except just to check my email if I have been gone very long. My computer usually stays logs onto facebook, myspace, yahoo, and of course GC. I haven’t been vocal on GC lately, not because of the thread, but because my life is getting more crazy; I had knee surgery in the middle of May, going to physical therapy, my family has come down, I have gone to see family, my grandfather was in the hospital, and just getting ready to go to college which is stressful enough. I am leaving Tuesday to go to the beach with my dad then I come back on Friday and I leave on Saturday to go with my mom on vacation.

I don’t know what website where I supposedly got these rituals. I had no clue there was such a website. The only email address I have, besides school emails, is through Yahoo. Yes, it does have my entire name in it. But I am in no Yahoo! Groups and chat groups (or whatever they are called). This is the only message board I am even on.

Here are the reasons it can’t be me.
1) I am willing to let anyone that lives near me to take a look at my laptop. My laptop is mainly the only thing I use because it is mine and no one else’s. I don’t usually use my parent’s computer plus it was broken and wasn’t fixed until this past week. I will be gone so nothing will be changed on it.
2) Why would I still be rushing if I knew these sorority secrets? If I knew what was going on, what would be the point of rushing?
3) I wouldn’t have spent $300 to go to a weight loss center to look my best. I wouldn’t be saving my money for the application fee, makeup, hair styling, and having my nails done for the first week of rush (I don’t mean for this to sound superficial…it is mainly for a confidence booster to me). I would not be spending my time preparing a resume, making copies of pictures, and sending rec info to people. I would definitely love to spend that money on something else, especially since I have not been able to work for the last five weeks and have no income right now because of knee surgery.
4) My mom would be so much happier if I wasn’t going through rush and it wouldn’t be such a contentious point within our family.

The only thing I can think of is that someone either has the same name or used my name. They didn’t verify that my name was my name when I signed up for Yahoo, so I bet it’s the same for Hotmail and Earthlink. I know I do not have a common name, but both of my names are getting more popular each year. In my private high school, out of about 150 kids in the high school there were two other people with my name. And there is a racecar driver that has the same last name and a bus line as well. I looked my name up in the white pages and there was someone with my exact name that lives somewhere in the Northeast and there is also another woman with the same name on Facebook.. My second idea actually came to me when I thought of a friend of mine. She used facebook and one of her “friends” on there made a myspace page and pretended to be her. I don’t know if this happened and I am not blaming anyone on here, but it is definitely a possibility. I am leaving today to go on vacation for about two weeks, so you guys have at it. I hope this gets resolved and everyone realizes I it wasn’t me.

I know some people won’t believe me and that’s ok. But I know I didn’t do it and that’s all that matters to me.

What???

Why, God? Why have you cursed me with the ability to find the most confusing line in a huge post? Why?

BetteDavisEyes 06-26-2007 03:02 PM

LOL! I'm still scratching my head.

You mean you're rushing just to learn some secrets? http://www.smilieshq.com/smilies/confused0028.gif

Seriously... that's what it sounds like.

Ocalagirl, you would've been much better off if you just disappeared from greek discussion boards, etc. for awhile. Coming back and spouting off 1000 different excuses and sample explanations only makes you look guilty. I have learned through my job that that is one of the first ways to tell someone is lying. Too many explanations, talking a lot and not really saying anything and/or contradicting yourself. It catches up with you.

I <3 MysticCat.

And that's what I've learned from GC.

Did I see another thread at one time when the posts posted were the "roomies" or some other person's fault?

There's got to be at least 1000 of these types of posts.

Oh ok. Got ya. Well you know what they say...excuses are like butt holes..everyone has them and they stink (sorry I had to). If you did it, own up to it. If not, just say it wasn't you. Kddani was right with her post about the excuses.

UGAalum94 06-26-2007 03:26 PM

Ocalagirl,

The ritual secrets junk aside, you aren't helping your chances at recruitment by posting here.

If you really want to join a group, just rush as who you are in real life and lurk on GC (maybe pm), but don't post.

I'm not privy to what anyone saw as far as proof it was really you on the ritual group, but I suspect if you weren't using GreekChat, this never would have happen.

It's a really common internet excuse. *OMG MY ROOMMATE/BFF/HACKER GOT INTO MY COMPUTER AND POSTED MEAN THINGS ABOUT EVERYONE JUST TO BE A JACKASS* It'd hardly an excuse.

That and someone showed me the request to have the posts removed, it specifically mentioned that the poster was afraid of it hurting her recruitment.

Thanks mods! :)

Wow, I'm witnessing some active real time moderating, interesting.
