I also understand that there are a couple of other companies that have mineral makeup especially for women of color. |

I also had to tweak my foundation until they came out with the warm deep shade! I love the tinited mineral veil because it has a hint of warmth in it so I don't need to use the warmth AOFC! But in the winter time I wear the dark foundation because I'm a little lighter during the winter months than summer! |
Can anyone recommend a brand of Mascara and eyeshadow for contact lens wearers?

i've been using the rx for brown skin (bright & even) for almost a month and i have to say that my skin looks and feels so much better now. my pores are smaller, my skin is smoother and softer, and much more even. |
I love Bareminerals

I have finally gotten it right. I mix Warm Tan & Warm Deep, and I get the coverage I need. I also love Well Rested, I work 3rd shift now so when I 1st started wearing it, my co-workers were like WOW, what have you done differently, I just smiled & went on my merry way. It really makes your eyes POP! |

I think I'm going to buy some tomorrow. I'm really light skinned and have a hard time finding matching foundations. They're either too pink or too light. Any suggestions on the color I should get?

I tried a few makeup brands when I was looking for wedding makeup.
MAC - Too heavy. Made me look like a painted woman of leisure. :D ( And I tried that makeup with 3 different makeup artists...) Mary-Kay - Made me look like Casper the Friendly Ghost Bare Minerals - Made me look generally ashy. And slightly off from a color perspective. I ended up going with a local cosmetics company. Thier makeup was the only makeup brand that was absolutely perfect for my complexion. Very light, perfect coverage They're a black owned local brand (based out of Cleveland) - LaChae Cosmetics. I LOVE their makeup. I think they have locations in VA and Detroit. They also have an online presence. |

it's pretty nifty stuff. |
I agree Mac is the best. I break out easy but I haven't had any problems with them. I guess the ol' saying is right...you get what you pay for.

Can somebody help me?!? *cries*
Whenever I put on makeup, it seems like a few hours later my makeup is gone. My eyeliner is all smudged and it doesn't look like I put on any foundation. Is there anything I can do about that? |

as far as foundation, i'm still working that out for me, but it helps if my face is freshly very clean and moisturized and i've waited a little while (10-15 min) after moisturizing before i put on foundation. i've also discovered the value of using translucent powder to set the foundation. it sounds like a lot to do, but it does help. |
Great info! Thank you!!
After reading this thread I am hitting up a MAC counter ASAP! :D |
for the ladies who have issues with the makeup wearing off, i have 2 tips:
1. i apply my powder IMMEDIATELY after i put on moisturizer. that way there's something for it to "stick" to. 2. i fell in love with MAC's prep+prime earlier this summer. it is a good base for make up... it will last ALLLLL day. however, i cannot use this as a daily moisturizer (my skin is addicted to clinique's daily dramatic gel)... just do what's best for your skin! |

You can also try the primers that the Sistergreeks were talking about. Also, 12dn94dst, I know you said that you like the BE (I'm glad!), but if you think you might need to "tweak" the color a little, try putting on a bit of warmth first, then your foundation. I don't own any warmth, but had my co-worker give me some from her collection. I might go purchase some now. |
Smashbox has a primer, Photo Finish, that I like and it will keep your make up on.
Also, try an eye shadow primer. The one I use is Mary Kay but I believe M.A.C. has one too |
I really like this thread!!
Like many of you I us MAC foundation but use Fashion Fair Oil-Free tranculent powder. The MAC version broke me out and this combination seems to work for me. I have never tried MAC eye shadow but Fashion Fair is really good and the colors look great on my chocolate skin...lol. I also found that applying foundation right after applying my moisterizer and then setting it with my powder works very well. With eye-liner I usually line from the middle eye out which helps to open up my eyes verses lining it all the way across. I do hate lining my bottom lid..it makes my eyes feel heavy... |

BE's prime time is good too. it made my skin feel all silky. :-) |
^^Yea I also use the Primetime from BE as well...but you only need like one pump's worth..they also have Primetime for the eyes only for those who wear eye makeup!
|
Hey guys I'm new to this forum but I saw this thread and I just had to stop in. Ok I use Mary Kay fundation and I pretty much LOVE it but I have really oily skin so I was wondering if there was some type of base or powder or SOMETHING that I should put on BEFORE or AFTER to keep my face from oiling (is that a word) up so much during the day?!?! I read something about a primer but WHAT IS THAT lol..never heard of it...Anyways thanks for the help
Great thread! (even though I know it was started about 5yrs ago lol) |

^^To keep eyeshadow off your cheeks during appliation, just hold a peice of folded napkin or tissue under your eye to catch any extra makeup that falls from your brush!

Has anyone tried the mineral makeup from Mary Kay? I love Mary Kay's foundation (I haven't found a better match yet), but I love that natural glow that mineral makeup gives.
|
for those that use UDPP
apparently, there's more in the bottle than what we think there is:

^^^ (my face after watching the video) Wow I don't even use this product but it's amazing how these companies will try to rip you off!

Mary Kay Mineral Foundation
Finally tried Mary Kay's mineral makeup. It looks really natural and gives me just as much coverage as the Mary Kay cream to powder. I actually bought mineral veil from B.E. and mixed it in. However, Mary Kay's mineral foundation contains talc, which B.E. does not. I'd still like to try out B.E. to compare the difference.

I do like BE's coverage, and sometimes alternate between that and the MK. I also think I've found my match in Merle Norman's mineral makeup. Before you buy the BE, "try" it on first at a BE store, or Sephora or Ulta and see if the bismuth oxy_______ makes you itch. Many people complain about that, especially if you start to get a little hot or sweaty. AND BE is coming out (as of today, I believe) with about 3 or 4 new shades, which should give "us" a few more choices. Once I run out of my current jar, I'll check out the other, but I do think that warm tan is my color. |
Got to love Mary Kay! Check out the new compact!

BE will give you that "dewey" look, and to help me get that look, I also use the warm radiance. The radiances will give you that glow. Ask your LS if she uses a radiance at all. Now what I did yesterday was wear the MK and used some radiance on top of it. I didn't realize what a difference using the proper brush makes. Definitely put on minerals with a kabuki or baby buki brush and buff well! |
Not "makeup" but something I found...
Has anyone else tried the Pedegg? OMG this has to be the best foot product I ever bought. I get funky feet with cracked heels, and usually would spend hours with a pumice stone with no great results. Now my feet look like they did when I was 12. It's a little messy, but not too bad. It only took me 15 minutes at most.
Also, with the BE my face was itching, but I stopped using the Rev-up, and started using a really thick moisturizer. It made a huge difference. :) |
