I just finished reading "Shopaholic Ties the Knot"
I read most of it while on vacation at the beach.

I thought it was really cute, but the bad thing is I never read the second one, "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan". Everytime I try to look for it, Barnes & Nobles is out of stock- I will probably just order it online.

I am going to start reading this other book I bought about a year ago and havent had a chance to read it yet, its called "Dog Traning" ;)

I haven't heard anything about High Maintenance but it seems like a cute book to read.

I'm reading Eating the Cheshire Cat right now and I'm surprised that I put it down to come online!! I picked it up when I got home @ 5:30pm today and I'm already at part 2...!

Really good book!

AUDeltaGam 07-16-2003 09:20 PM

From what I remember from when I first heard about the book, it's about a man writing down his and his wife's love story for his wife who has alzheimers.

I've heard it's a tearjerker. I'll have to read to find out!

AAgammagirl 07-17-2003 09:47 PM

mu_agd 07-23-2003 12:12 PM

allright, i finished Trading Up by Candace Bushnell yesterday. i really liked it!

and then i started Babyville by Jane Green. I'm only a few chapter in, but i like it so far..

Eirene_DGP 07-23-2003 12:20 PM

I just started What You Owe Me by Bebe Moore Campbell. It looks like this is going to be another great book.;)

texas*princess 07-23-2003 12:21 PM

I finally started The Dive From Clausen's Pier and so far it's an awesome book :)

SATX*APhi 07-23-2003 01:54 PM

I don't generally read for pleasure, hell I don't really read what I am supposed to for class. I don't like to read, not books anyway. I am attempting to read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It is pretty good thus far. I think I might just finish this book. :D Anyone ever read it?

CarolinaCutie 07-23-2003 01:56 PM

Right now I'm reading The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc by Loraine Despres and I'm really enjoying it.

I just finished The Cheer Leader by Jill McCorkle, and I didn't like it. I picked it up because the story takes place in North Carolina, but there really aren't many references other than mentioning college names. The back of the book insinuates that the story has a lot of Southern culture in it, but I did not find this to be the case. I found most of the end of the book to be hard to get through because it's rambly.

Next I'm reading Jemima J by Jane Green and In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. All very girly, light summer reading type books, but hey, I'm taking a break before school has me reading Shakespeare!

I also am waiting for I Don't Know How She Does It to come out in paperback, and I'd like to read The Devil Wears Prada.

texas*princess 07-29-2003 11:45 AM

*bump* :)

I'm about 3/4 of the way into The Dive From Clausen's Pier and I'm not so sure I like it.

For some reason, whenever the book talks about Kilroy's character, I think of Tony DiMera (from Days of our Lives). I don't particiularly like Kilroy.. and I don't like how Carrie skipped out on Rooster's wedding! I was sooooo looking forward to reading a chapter of the back-home stuff.... but oh well.

I'm debating whether or not I want to finish this book.. hehehe. I think I will though.. just to see what happens at the end.

Munchkin03 07-29-2003 12:06 PM

I just finished Shopgirl by Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin). It was cute, but it could have been a short story in the New Yorker. I can't believe he got a book deal out of it.

mu_agd 07-29-2003 12:22 PM

i just finished Babyville by Jane Green and loved it!

now it's on to Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes...

Lady Pi Phi 07-29-2003 01:01 PM

I just started Reading e. by Matthew Beaumont. He's an English author and this book is written entirely in emails. It takes place in an advertising agency who is trying to land a Coca-Cola account.

While I've just started, it's absolutely hilarious.

GMUBunny 07-31-2003 05:58 PM

bump!

I'm 90% finished with Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady. It's definitely  but I love it!!!! My grandmother would absolutely die if she knew what it was about! :p

MoxieGrrl 08-01-2003 01:27 AM

I just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman for the 2nd time. Excellent book!

Now I'm reading Branded. Definitely recommended reading for our generation. It opened my eyes to a lot of things and made me really sad.

texas*princess 08-06-2003 02:59 PM

I finished reading The Dive From Clausen's Pier sometime last week and I don't think it is my favorite.. the whole thing just seemed so ... sad!

Just this afternoon I finished High Maintenance and I totally loved it :) It was so hilarious I just had to keep reading until I was done!

I got to see Alissa Quart (the author) speak for our program (she's an alum of my school). It was a great presentation! I'm ordering the book on amazon.com.

I just finished Naked by David Sedaris. Hilarious!

etahannah 08-06-2003 03:27 PM

I just finished this book called "I Do, But I Don't" by Cara Lockwood. If you need a book to read in like a day or two that is REALLY funny, I highly recommend this!

texas*princess 09-16-2003 04:30 PM

I started reading e and it is absolutely HILARIOUS! It's definately an interesting book because it is written entirely in emails!

honeychile 09-16-2003 04:46 PM

Has anyone else read any of the "Shopaholic" series? I just finished the last one ("The Shopaholic gets Married" I think). Anyhow, it's wonderful mind candy!

texas*princess 09-16-2003 04:47 PM

I'm about 3/4 through e by Matt Beaumont and it is postively one of the most hilarious books I've read so far!

Does anyone else know of a book similiar to this one? (That is written in entirely emails, or letters, ... something other than regularly-written fiction)

Is anyone else still doing fun reading even though it's not summer any more?

I absolutely need to keep reading 'fun' stuff b/c I will go insane with just school books!

I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks a couple weeks ago. A good sappy short read. I sent a copy to the bf too.

AUDeltaGam 09-22-2003 06:51 PM

I just bought Confessions of a Shopaholic and I can't wait to start reading it!

Munchkin03 09-22-2003 09:07 PM
