Then get off of the internetz, find the number of your campus's student services, and ask for a referral to a good therapist. In the meantime I suggest a more productive use of your time. Like studying. Emailing your adviser to make an appointment. Calling someone to hang out with.

Just about anything else than this. No one here is going to be nice at this point.

victoriana 06-07-2011 11:42 PM

K_s, I'm reading this thread just for you now. I'm laughing my ass off over here. :D

In that case, here you go: 1-800-273-8255
24/7 suicide hotline.

Suicide hotline=helpful. Internet thread suicide threat=not.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I get into work this morning, bring up GC, and I see 12 pages... I figure it must be an old and revived thread... nope. People (ahem OP/troll/whatever) are nuts.

violetpretty 06-08-2011 09:06 AM

So, what classes are you taking this summer? I can't imagine a school that hasn't already started summer sessions already.

violetpretty 06-08-2011 09:18 AM

Also, since it wasn't already mentioned, even IF:
the Office of Greek Life were to allow you to go through recruitment, AND
you took 7 credits* this summer and got As to raise your GPA to 2.45, AND
truly every collegian in said fave sorority wanted to give you a bid, the recruitment advisor/chapter advisor should enforce the national GPA requirement to join.

*I call bullshit on the 7 credit rule. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take 8, though, you claim you need 9. Summer sessions come in two parts, so why wouldn't you be able to take 4 credits in each session?

AnotherKD 06-08-2011 09:26 AM

Wasn't even that she needed the full 9 credits, not the allowable 7 credits, WITH the 4.0 in all, to even make it up to 2.45?

Also, at my school, summer sessions did not come in two parts. I took summer classes one summer to make up some I had lost via transferring. There was only one session and while I'm not sure what the full class-load was, I took 2. I am 99% sure that that was the limit.

Nah, it's just the OP/troll I was referring to. Just... I have no words. Such drama for a Wednesday morning. I'm glad it came on a morning where I'm super bored! ;)

Well, shit, that .05 makes all the difference. *insert sarcasm here*

Listen, I'm really sorry, but there is little point to you coming back to argue whatever point you thought you had. Your grades suck, and even if you do the whole summer school for however-many credits and did perfectly, your grades would still suck. We don't know what school you're in, whether or not anyone would bend the rules or not, etc. If you want, come back once your recruitment starts and let us know what happened. If not, buh-bye.

I mean, if you want to post here just to argue because you're bored or whatever, people will get tired of it, if they haven't already. We aren't here to amuse you.

I know its been a minute since I've been at school, but umm usually when the credits transfer the bad grade you got is removed from your gpa. You won't get the grade, but the bad grade you had doesn't count against your GPA.

Now I could be wrong, but that's how it worked for me.

Agreed. I transferred and my GPA started over, but I received most of my credits.

How about you have your college/university to explain this.

Good grief, GCers, stop explaining everything to these people. They have plenty of resources if they aren't too lazy to use them.

Okay. Say you went to school A and took 25 credits' worth of classes. When you transfer them to school B, maybe they only take 20 because of what their own classes are like. A fashion merchandising credit won't transfer if you're going to MIT, for instance. Now, since all schools grade differently as well (plus other reasons), you only get the credits, not the GPA. DISCLAIMER: For some schools, you must have a certain grade or above for the credit to transfer. For instance, if I got a D in one class, it may or may not transfer according to school B's policy. If I got an F, those credits would not transfer.

Capice?

LOL. Nah, it would be fun if you all's posts weren't so serious. Let these usernames talk to the people at their schools and in the sororities. It will prepare them for life.

sooo....how would that help me? you basically just said the credits transfer not the grades...which is what i thought. how would having more credits help me?

Read the whole thread. Someone said to look into online courses of some sort, someone else came on and said that wouldn't matter since only credits, not GPA, transfer. So it's a moot point.

More credits would not help you if taken outside of your own school. Anyhow, that's not a discussion for here. Talk to your advisor and worry about getting into your intended major. That will matter a hell of a lot more in a few years when you're trying to find a job out there in this tremendously tough market rather than if you happened to get into a sorority.

Splash 06-08-2011 11:45 AM

Go sign up for the 9 credits this summer. Just do it. If the computer won't let you, go in and get an approval. Figure out a way to get it done and do well in the classes. If this is what you want then do it.
