for me a different adjective comes to mind: terrible!

KSUViolet06 08-01-2010 09:51 PM

I think this might be the one with the detachable skirt:

What. IS. That.

O.o

PeppyGPhiB 08-02-2010 02:04 AM

I actually started laughing when I saw that^^^ one.

Velcro on your wedding dress is just not a good look. Velcro can get messed up so easily and not work also that's for children who cannot tie shoes yet! It's not for a dress. The skirt looked so heavy on the show, I don't think it can stand up to walking around and getting stepped on or anything.

Hey now. My favorite pair of Sketchers has velcro!

Oh man I missed it..when is it on?

^^^^^Has no one heard of elegance?! Panache?

Oh, and not wanting to crawl under a rock when viewing yourself ten years after the wedding?

The see through dress above simply indicates some people have no shame.

ZTAngel 08-03-2010 07:20 PM

Just remembered that my friend Susan will be featured on the Atlanta show this Friday. She told me that she was filmed when she bought her dress but this was almost a year ago so I didn't think much of it again. She sent an email today about having a viewing party at her house. I'm excited to see the episode!

I agree though I also think see through can be done in a tasteful way, unlike the above examples by Pnina Tornai.

I personally think it's completely wrong for a wedding, since IMO sexy isn't appropriate for a wedding...but I'm sure there are ways to incorporate it in more subtle ways that wouldn't look like that...thing.

Just watched an hour of SYTTD-Atlanta, all I can say is that mermaid gowns and belts must be the in thing this year there. Of course, sooooo much better than the umm, more revealing dresses favored by some brides-to-be in NYC!

twinkle555 08-07-2010 01:29 AM

Im not sure how I feel about SYTTD Atlanta..the staff DEFINITELY have some snooty opinions!

KSUViolet06 08-07-2010 03:39 PM

I'm seeing a lot more conservative choices in the ATL show, but it's probably due to the fact that Lori's doesn't carry Pnina. lol.

Also, I LOVED that Amsale gown with the floral detailing on the skirt with the silver belt.

That gown was truly gorgeous!!!

^^^Picture??? I missed this week's episodes.

This is the Amsale dress itself. The belt was added by the store.

ASUADPi 11-30-2010 09:24 PM

Doesn't this start back up in January?

Leslie Anne 11-30-2010 11:35 PM

Are they ever going back to Klienfeld? Atlanta just didn't do it for me.

Ditto. I could not get into Atlanta for whatever reason.

KSUViolet06 01-02-2011 05:46 PM

FYI: The new season is back at Kleinfeld and starts on Fri.

YESSSSS!

joliebelle 02-26-2011 03:04 PM

*bump*

Has anyone been watching this season? I feel like they're showing more Pnina dresses now than they were before.

Last night's episode with the "Brady Bunch" family kind of rubbed me the wrong way. There is something so unappealing about a dad/step-dad telling his future wife that he wants her to wear the sexier, more revealing gown in front of their children.

AnchorAlum 02-26-2011 04:40 PM

Agree. I don't like that corset look style anyway, and haven't seen a single one on a bride that I thought was particularly elegant or classic, but I wasn't a fan of that couple to begin with.

The dancer went way over her budget but boy that gown was made for her. She looked amazing.

KSUViolet06 02-26-2011 04:43 PM

My fave ugly Pnina of the season = the PINK ballgown with the see-through top.

Someone has to remember it. It was worn by an older-ish bride (I think she was 40?)

CRAZY. lol.

Kappamd 02-26-2011 06:54 PM

^^^YES. Wtf was that thing? Aside from being hideous, it wasn't the least bit flattering to the bride who wore it.

joliebelle 02-26-2011 08:41 PM

Uh...yes. Wasn't that the bride that Vera said that she had to add more fabric so that her "butterfly" wouldn't show?

FSUZeta 02-26-2011 08:51 PM

those see-though, boned bodice dresses are just tacky.

Tulip86 02-26-2011 10:56 PM

Pnina only made one dress I liked, a few seasons ago for a girl from an Indian culture who wanted a red dress

NinjaPoodle 05-02-2011 09:16 PM

So, I came across this video about why the staff members wear black, which makes perfect sense:

Kappamd 05-02-2011 09:21 PM

I haven't been to a bridal salon where the consultants DIDN'T wear black. But I agree, it makes perfect sense.

I have. The ladies dressed nice but no black.

DreamfulSpirit 05-06-2011 09:45 AM

Bumping this as one of my sorority sisters (from a different chapter) will be on tonight's new episode!

Omega Phi Alpha's VP of Membership will be searching for her dress at Kleinfeld's tonight! She's getting married in about a month and a half (a week after I get married)!

groovypq 05-06-2011 04:17 PM

Awesome! I know the "former cheerleader" and her "boisterous entourage" from last week's (re-airing at 6:30 tonight - I didn't get to see it yet, so yay!)

OleMissGlitter 05-06-2011 04:33 PM

An AOII alumna from Ole Miss was on a recent epsiode. I think this was her episode. Her name is Bethany.

Happily Ever After, Sort Of

joliebelle 05-15-2011 07:09 PM

^^ loved the episodes with the "former cheerleader" and Bethany!

This summer, TLC will be premiering Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids. It looks like it'll be taking place at Bridals by Lori.
