I still can't believe it, you guys. I've been crying ever since this election was called. |
MLK's daughter speaking on CNN -- wow. Think of that historical road. Martin Luther King, Jr. to President Barack Obama.
|
Really good speech from John McCain.
|
Locally I'm hoping that misogynistic turd Bill Sali isn't re-elected and doesn't get sent back to represent Idaho in Washington DC. After the Larry Craig BS I think parts of Idaho may be ready to not just mindlessly mark for a party, and vote for an individual.
One issue we have is northern Idaho is on Pacific time, and the rest is on Mountain, so it causes a delay in results. In my county most of the Democrats are winning, but not all precincts have reported. |

I agree. It was quite good. As I was listening to it, I was thinking that some segments of Sen. McCain's speech were of the "inspirational quote" variety that many pundits said were sorely missing from his performance at the final debate. I will be interested in hearing Sen. Obama's speech. .....Kelly :) |

Obama comes into the Presidency with a great deal of momentum, more momentum than any President than Reagan. It's likely that the economy will turn around during the Presidency, and he'll get the credit, regardless of whether he deserves such credit. It will be EXTREMELY interesting to see how the Republican party responds to this. I think this is a crucial time for the party, and historic time, so to speak. |

Here it comes!
ETA: DEFINITELY heard that cheer. I love living in Chicago! |
how fitting the Obama family wore red LMAO!!
|
So watching MSNBC and listening to Obama's speech. Michelle looks gorgeous!
|
Dead serious: I think Michelle Obama sucks. Holy crap - maybe I just don't get it. She's like the black spy versus Barack's white spy in the old Mad Magazine comics . . .

Obama mentions McCain crowd cheers, McCain mentions Obama crowd boooos. . . . .

Seriously? This is a non-issue, and trying to make this into an issue is just ridiculous. I hate how people are trying to paint a whole party by the reactions of a few. |

Someone shared this on another site, and I think it is beautiful and the best expression of what I am feeling right now.
They showed a gorgeous sign at an Obama Party a few moments ago. "Rosa sat, so that Martin could walk, so that Obama could run, so that our children could fly" |

http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tr...smiley-011.gif *sniff* that shout-out to his wife...classic!

Can we stop criticizing the McCain supporters for booing? I remember the Kerry concession during the last election. His supporters were rather liberal in their boos. It's the way it goes when a candidate loses. To try to paint it as something more is allowing one's bias to get in the way of good common sense.

hmm. i wonder what Hillary is thinking now, about when she asked him to step down lmao!

Obama's crowd was cheering that McCain wasn't elected. Like someone said earlier, the booing isn't necessarily an anti-Obama sentiment. |

This is an absurdity during an amazing moment - knock it off, all of you. |
O.K. Get the f**k over yourself people. Please go ahead and move to Canada if you're so pissed at America. Do the country a favor and move. Stop leaving pissy facebook messages and myspace comments about how you should move to another country because of who we voted in as the next President.
/end rant |
Listen to Obama - our president-elect said stop being petty and partisan. So stop it!

Obama has such great rhetoric.. I always feel soo inspired when he speaks.
**def tearing up** |
I've been bawling since Fox News (yes) called it. This is so awesome. I know I talk about my nephew a lot to some of you guys, and he is just tickled pink. He really looks up to Barack Obama, and I am so happy that he can look to the President-Elect and see a man who looks like him. This is just so great. My grandparents lived in Jim Crow Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama, and I'm sure they never expected to see this in their lifetime.
Those are also some cute little girls. I'm glad they're getting that puppy. Also, Inauguration will be held the Tuesday after the MLK birthday holiday. |
Obama is a great speaker, but I feel like in the future, when perhaps the best rhetoritician may not be the smarter of the two candidates like today, it may be important for the American people to know that the plural of "anecdote" is not "data" . . . however, other than the 106 year old woman as the weak anchor, I like this a lot.
|
Ok, the story about the 106-year-old actually pulled a sob out of me.
Yes we can. |

I noticed the same thing. Sen. Obama mentioned McCain and there was a smattering of polite applause and several crowd shots of groups of Obama supporters clearly looking like they did not care to clap (and didn't). Big deal on both sides. As alphagamzetagam pointed out, people are human. They're just doing what they feel in the moment. Neither side should be painted with a broad brush based on the reactions of the TV crowds in highly-emotional moments. .....Kelly :) |
