I flew home for the holidays, and naturally, while I was on the flight, I had to skim through the SkyMall magazine. I’m looking at all of this nifty stuff when I come across… the Slanket! Same thing, more expensive, but more variety in color. I googled this thing, and apparently there are discussions going about the Snuggie vs. the Slanket.
This is getting out of hand. |
PROTIP: YOU CAN CUT HOLES IN A PRE-EXISTING BLANKET
|
is it really a bad thing? For one who can't get warm enough during the winter months and don't like blankets slipping off of me when i reach for that remote or glass of wine while STATIONED on the couch, it really isn't all that bad. However, color or print selction could be a tad bit better. I mean I am not going to go out in public with it on and look like a cross between jedi master and or a monk, I am wearing it sitting on the fricken couch and comes off when I get up and or go to bed. It serves it purpose while sitting there keeping warm watching tv and being a couch potato for a few hours a night.

Personally, I think the commercial hurts the product more than anything. The first time I saw it, I couldn't help from bursting out laughing. The old guy looks like a monk, and the one-size-fits-all concept is completely discredited when you see the kids practically drowning in them at the ball game. Oh, and the name.. yea, don't even get me started. |
I'm on dialysis and it's always freezing in the clinics. Dialysis patients tend to feel colder, too, because of the use of Coumadin/Heparin (blood thinners) and wear layers of clothing and blankets during treatment, even on the hottest summer days. I can see how the Snuggie could be useful, particularly for people who have an access in their arm. Not a consideration for everyone, I know, but if you're going through a treatment like that, you don't care if you look like a dork or a monk.

I'm an inch away from getting one now that I got my last heating bill!! And, the above posters who suggested it for scraping car windshields of snow/ice are on target. When I lived in MN I had a gorgeous long wool coat that got that horrible white salt (which really isn't salt, but a bunch of chemicals) on it every time I'd lean over the car.

My friend said on Facebook yesterday that she was buying the Snuggie.
I told her that if she did, we're not friends anymore. LOL |
Vandal, is that like those long skinny pillows you put at the bottom of doors? I really don't have any leaks it's just this darn big house with high ceilings. I could buy a designer purse every month for what I pay in the gas bill. grrrrrr.

http://www.amazon.com/Radiator-Weara...769978&sr=8-12 That with the Snuggie would be out of control. |
I'm still thinking on this snow removal apron idea. I think if we made them the shape/size of the Snuggie but made them plastic and disposable, like those $1 each rain ponchos, we could be on to something. You could sell them with a container that can easily fit in the car for disposal. If I had any business sense at all, I would make this, patent it and sell it via "As Seen On TV"
ETA: My thermostat for the house is programmable so it's set to go down to 64 during the day when I'm at work and when I'm sleeping. It bumps up to 72 for morning showers and stuff and I have it set to 68 from the time the kids get home from school til bed time. It saves me lots of money but then there are days like today, when I'm home on a weekday and at 9 am I'm sitting here freezing, wondering why it's so cold. Then it dawns on me... have to up the temp on weekdays when I'm home! |
My older brother just purchased a 'Snuggie.' It was supposed to be for a family member, but he decided to keep it for himself. Now he walks around the house with a burgundy blanket/robe. Seriously, I wish he would have just invested in a hoodie, instead of this broke-ass looking wizard's robe.
