What are your questions about the timeline?

We invited back ~80, were told quota was ~25, but other chapters were about to take ~30. The campus uses release figures.

Did you invite the maximum number of women that you could back to pref? If not, then yes, that would be a reason for you not to make quota. You, however, need to let your HQ know whether or not the number of women you chose not to invite that you could have were reasonable candidates for consideration. If they were not, then your real problem is that you are not connecting sufficiently with the girls you want for them to choose to attend your pref over other groups on campus. Having only one cut makes things much more difficult.

In other words, "why didn't you take all the leftovers, even if they are far below your or any group's standards - don't you know that's the smallest sorority's duty? Membership selection is for the largest group only, silly geese!"

Exactly. It would be much better for the PNMs and the sororities if there was one invitational round before pref.

HA - I hope this doesn't give my campus away, but this year we changed the way we do recruitment. In years past, recruitment's lasted Sunday-Saturday; with 2 nights of Open House, 2 Nights of Philanthropy, 1 Theme Night, 1 Pref Night, and Bid Day.
This year, it was cut in half; all 4 nights of Open House and Philanthropy were combined into 1 "Values Night", and we kept Theme, Pref and Bid Day the same.
PNMs have never had to choose which parties they come back for, as long as they're invited back. The only night they've ever had to make a cut is Pref Night.

This is exactly how I felt when RFM was explained to me the other day. Seems that since our sorority is the newest and smallest on campus, we HAVE to invite the number of PNMs back that we're told...
I don't WANT to have to take PNMs just because no one else wants them; I don't want to take the ones that aren't really into it! I want to be in competition with the best of the best PNMs!
Ok, don't get me wrong, we have gotten some GREAT ladies through formal recruitment! But it just seems that we're the chapter that takes the "leftovers". We have to COB more than the others, and it kinda gets me down sometimes.

It definitely should be "mutual" -- they should be asked to choose before pref round. That way, you have a more realistic view of who is interested coming back.

^^^ Ditto. I think that this is where my confusion came into play regarding your timeline. My experience has been that cuts are made 2-3 times prior to pref night. Sorry for my own personal confusion.
