I feel that way about "Emma"

I feel that way about all the kids (male and female) who have names that rhyme with "maiden."

Can you imagine the classrooms in a few years? Half the kids in there will be some version of Aiden, Jadyn, Braden, Caedan, etc. None of the poor kids will ever have their names spelled correctly, since there are a million spelling variations.

And the poor teachers who have to keep all that madness straight...

I'm not a teacher but there are definitely names I'd never used based on people I don't/didn't like growing up or just big trouble makers I went to school with who have forever ruined certain names.

Hopefully by the time I have kids none of those names will be popular and it wont be an issue.

It's already happening. My son's school had three kindergarten classes. Between the three there were:
Aedan
Aiden
Aadan (or maybe it was Aaden?)
Brayden
Braedyn

They put one Aedan in each class and kept the Braydens separate as well, but at some point in time they will have to put some combination together in the same class!

They also had three Taylors. 2 boys and one girl.

One year our daughters' pre-K had 4 Z names--I think it was 2 Zachs, a Zeke, and a Zechariah? Every time I'd hear their names, I'd think of the line from Disney's Country Bear Jamboree: "Zeke and Zach and Ted and Fred and a bear named Tennessee!"

The teachers almost lost their minds with those and I may lose my mind with the unisex names, like Taylor, Morgan, and Jordan. We're flooded with them, both boys and girls, although they're not the prime stinkers. The other names I've put in this thread are.:mad:

YES. Graydon is an old family name on my mom's side that I have long planned to use if I ever have a kid...not so much now.

There is a kid in my school named Cameron and you all would die if you saw the way it was spelled.

I also don't like parents who have 2 or more children and they have names that start with the same letter.

For example: Mia and Megan, Lucy and Lilly, Sierra, and Savannah, Eve, Eli,and Ethan

I hear you loud and clear on this one. Anytime I hear the name Cody, I think of some redneck woman screaming at the top of her lungs,

"CODY! DESTINY! (another hated name of mine) Y'ALL QUIT PLAYIN' ON THAT THAR SHEET METAL!"

Maybe it is because I have been out of school for a few weeks, but I can't really recall all of the names I wouldn't want to name my own children.

Cameron is definately one of them. I have worked with too many Camerons with Autism.

Connie- because she the most terrible girl ever and she was in my class from K to 7th grade. Now I swim on a team with a wonderful woman named Connie, but I still can't get over the scars of elementary school!

And everyone's been picked on by one. The Heathers should've been The Ashleys.

and my nickname (katie) nor my full name (katherine) has been on this list... i feel fabulous! lol :)

My cousin has picked out the name Dyllin for her boy who's due in October.

I immediately thought of this thread and "y" not being synonymous with "i", and other crazy spellings of names....lol

While I was working in a high school in Arizona, the biggest trouble makers for me were:

Girls:
Melissa
Amber

Boys:
Jeremiah
Luis

To be honest, I don't like unisex names, or some that people as unisex, I don't really see as being unisex: Aaron/Erin, Morgan, Jordan (I see this as a boy name and not a girl), Taylor

Other names that I just don't like, either just because or for personal reasons: Zoe, Alex, and Danielle

Sidenote: my co-workers and I (preschool assessment team for special education) absolutely *dread* any students coming through screening with "A" and "J" names - typically, these kiddos turn out to be the ones we assess for autism spectrum disorder (including Aiden, Anthony, Jessalyn, Alexander, Joshua, Jeffery...and it goes on and on!)

I don't know if there's many "normal" names I'd avoid (the off-the-wall spellings just make it more difficult!), but when I *do* have children, I have to be more conscientious of the names already taken in my family - there's a number of cousins and nieces/nephews that are using up names I thought I'd use! :)

Let's see names I would never use due to my teaching experience...

Now on the flip side, I wouldn't mind naming my kids the following names because these students were amazing little munchkins (I taught 1st and 3rd prior to this upcoming school year)....
